1. I think it is easier if the drummer and bass player get along on a personal level, but its by no means essential! I've played with drummers who I have had no personal time for, but we have gelled well - and another guy who is a great mate, but I just can't get into the way he plays! It's really frustrating, and maybe it just needs more practice - but I do believe that there is a "compatability" thing here sometimes. Maybe he's just not "my type"!!
 2. Lots of good, sound advice above! Without knowing the people involved its hard to be specific but what you need to ask yourself is "am I enjoying this"? If the answer is no, and you can see no way forward then it seems to me that life is just too short and precious (think about Tim Kennelly!) to waste your time in a voluntary situation that you have outgrown! On the other hand, if they are your mates and there are positives - speak to them and see if you can turn the situation to your advantage. "Better the devil you know" and all that... Just my opinion of course!
 3. Trades welcomed. let me know what you've got!!
 4.
This would have been a lot simpler if he'd just spent £40 on travel insurance.
I think that lesson is there for us all to learn. How exactly do I donate by PayPal? I've never done it like this before...
 5. Hi guys and gals! I'm still here.... still sitting under the bed gathering dust when one of you could be lovingly carressing my smooth neck and curvy body... Oh - and the Ibanez is still for sale too!!
 6.
Think Strong Be Strong
I am strong! I'm just bloody lazy!
 7.
Never heard Ged's, must check that out.
"My favourite Headache". Its a good album IMO!
 8. Oooooo, this is seriously tempting.... and I would be doing Del a favour too as the cab would be moving north much closer to him! In fact, Del, you could probably HEAR it from Falkirk!!! But would my back love me? That's even heavier than the old TE 1048, and I moved that on because it was too heavy!!
 9. In case this deal doesn't work out, would you be interested in a fretless at all?
 10. Thanks for the tips guys! A few things for me to look into there...
 11. Recently bought one of these basses, and I'm really chuffed with it - especially for £320!! Problem I have is that I have lowered the action as far as possible, and its still on the high side! Now I usually like my action slightly high as I play very hard most of the time, but it is frustrating that I cannot lower it any further due to the curvature of the body. I have the saddles down as low as they will go!!! I suppose I could use lighter gauge strings, but this is not a route I would like to go down. Back in the 80s and 90s I used to use the Superwound strings that had a "piano wire" design whereby the part of the string that went over the saddle was not wound - just the core. This might solve the problem, but I don't know if those strings are still available. And I seem to recall that they were only available in very light gauges... Has anyone else experienced this, and is there an obvious solution that I am missing?!
 12.
- What is this Red Dog of which you speak? It sounds like a good dog, I mean, option.
Red Dog Music is at the bottom of Grassmarket in Edinburgh city centre - or at the bottom of Kings Stables Road if you are coming down the hill from the Lothian Road end. Good music shop. Not the cheapest maybe, but good service!
 13.
Their record label have started an appeal to raise some money to help. More information here Tragic loss..
Thanks for bumping this. I missed it the first time. Utterly, utterly devastating news. I'm in shock and almost in tears here... My own teenagers play guitars and want to tour the world with bands when they get a bit older. Christ. Tim should have been doing this - living his dream - for years to come. It's so sad and so unfair. Might I suggest that people help in a small way by donating or buying a copy of their CD by following the above link... Terrible tragedy. RIP.
 14.
Guitar Guitar or Red dog and fluttering your eye lids might work...!
Good call. I've always found Red Dog to be really friendly and helpful.
 15. I'm tempted by the Big One, but if I had to come and collect it from Newcastle the cost of petrol would make it nearly £675! Almost as cheap to buy a new one!! Anyway - good luck!
 16.
if I was going to sell a faulty bass to someone I think I would pick the most laidback person I could find, in the hope that they would just 'accept it' and get it sorted themselves without informing anyone
Eeek! That's bordering on the libellous surely?! None of my business of course, but....
 17.
I also doubt that it was £549 new.
Where does it say that?
 18.
I played for 20+ years with very little 'knowledge' of 'how' I got my sound.... and it was none the worse for it. Over the past 12 months it has almost become an obsession.
Ditto. It's interesting, but it doesn't make me feel good, I have to admit!
 19.
I think it's a Horner.
21. "As preview copies of the new Ann Summers catalogue are released, concerns are raised about portability and discretion..."
 22. Wasn't someone on here using that first one as their avatar until recently? Or they may still be. I rarely notice pictures of naked ladies myself....
 23.
Tbh, to me, that sounds like a guitar :/
To me too! Sounds like the Chuckle Brothers now!! That clip does nothing for me. I can see that it is technically challenging, but I wouldn't want to listen to it and I have no desire to be able to play like that. Horses for courses!!
