1.
Very cool, very professional, impressive. Usually I don't comment on clips because I don't have anything positive to say. Thus was very enjoyable. Blue
Praise indeed! Thanks a lot man
 2.
lots of guys are using a GKmb500, which gets really good reviews on line - any thoughts on this?
Just be careful if, like me, you have big fat fingers! I found it very frustrating to use the GK MB800 (big brother to the 500) as the controls are very close together and easily knocked while trying to adjust an adjacent one. In the end it got so annoying I sold it, although I quite liked the tone from the amp through my Barefaced cab...
 3. This is great... And I always loved the bass part to this song... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbxyH8WjWw0
 4.
The phrase "clutching at straws" comes to mind.
I thought that was Marillion? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFQwkm_xbF0
 5. Typical bedroom player. That animal needs to get out and gig more - and do it for a living. Not because it has to, but because it chooses to. I've been doing this for 65 years and I know what I'm talking about. The Beetles are great - but a bit crunchy... Blah, blah, etc, etc.... snore.
 6.
My bass amp (Acoustic Image) has reverb
Oh! That's the first time I've heard of it on a bass amp
 7.
Coolio! I shall watch this later...
Not while eating your dinner...
 8.
Has to be a good band if they let the bass player say more than two words.
Ha ha! Yes, I usually have plenty to say
 9.
That is very cool! Congratulations.
Cheers! I'd love to say that since it aired, we have been deluged with offers of gigs, recording contracts and requests for personal appearances.... but I'd be lying if I did Still - it was an interesting experience. It is always weird to watch yourself on video...
 10.
I had a number of lessons with Jodie a few years ago, amazing player and a thoroughly decent bloke to boot. Not sure about now, but he used to teach here...http://academyofmusic.ac.uk/courses/scotland-only/
Cool! Was he playing with a particular band then? I'm not sure how long he's been with Skerryvore...
 11.
Aaaah, OK. I lived in the North East for many years and the room looked familiar...just couldn't place it. Thought it might have been somewhere I knew.
It is the old drawing office, upstairs in the old Morley Coachworks building in Byker, if that helps!
 12.
Where was it shot ?
In our rehearsal room. When I say "our" I mean we pay for the use of it every wednesday, not that we own it or anything...
 13. A very "local" channel, but still...! http://www.madeintyneandwear.tv/player/?playercat=76693&vid=wzx6qtwi
 14. Just noticed he's using a Barefaced cab as well.... Now people will likely have an opinion of him!
 15.
What year was this bass made?
As one of the previous owners of this lovely bass (it's had a few owners!), I have to admit that I don't know when it was made. However, this seems to be (as far as I can tell) the original sale ad - so maybe you could contact the original owner? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/227566-soldmayones-jabba-classic-4-with-j-retro-deluxe-preamp/page__p__2376691__hl__jabba__fromsearch__1#entry2376691
 16.
Some band info here. They do a lot of work in Europe. http://skerryvore.com/
Yeah, it's through his work with Skerryvore that he came to my attention - although I believe he is a Glasgow-based session musician and teacher too. I just wondered if anyone on here knew him or knew of him. He's given me serious GAS for a G&L L2000...
 17.
If you want more life in your sound - get some new strings!
I always use new strings! That's not the kind of "life" I mean.... Never mind. Maybe it's only me
 18. Interesting... I guess what I'm talking about is the flat, dead sound one can get in some heavily carpeted and furnished rooms. A bit of reverb would, to my mind, just lift that a bit and add a bit of "life". I am not talking about using lots of reverb as an effect.
 19. Sometimes I find my bass sound a bit on the "dry" side, and it got me to wondering... Why do all guitar amps have reverb, but (to my knowledge) no bass amps do? Is reverb considered "bad" on bass? If so, why?
 20. Great player with a lovely tone and groove (IMO)... Anyone know much about him? Is he a member of Basschat?
 21.
I mainly use Youtube these days. But to be honest I think I would struggle to learn 20 songs in a week. Many years ago I would have found it a breeze but in my old age I'm a much slower learner.
Depends on the genre and band I suppose. Learning 20 Ramones songs would be less of a challenge than getting to grips with one Dream Theater track (IMO of course).
 22. Learn to read music. Understand chord theory, structure and all the possible inversions. Become a jazz master Then you will never have to "learn" another "song" again and the world of music will all be clear to you and your descendants. A week should be long enough for all that. Just thought I'd say it before someone else does...
 23.
This is also very true. We bassists obsess about tone, but almost nobody else can hear any difference between bass x and bass y (or amp x and amp y) at all! The rest of my family and my bandmates are utterly bemused by the idea that I would ever need more than one bass - after all, they all sound the same, don't they?
True - but lay people don't expect a surgeon to only use one type of knife or scalpel do they? Not that I'm comparing the job of a bass player to that of a surgeon, but you could stretch the analogy to cover plumbers, joiners, electricians or tradespeople of your own choice. They have different tools to do different tasks - even though we (as non-experts) may not understand the difference. If you are happy with your own gear choices, you are more likely to enjoy playing. This means you are more likely to play well and look like you are enjoying yourself - and these are things that punters DO pick up on!
