1. Always check feedback! Still, you can get the odd let-down. Maybe the seller changed his mind? After all, placing an advert does not place you under some sort of contract to sell... but if that is the case then the comms need to be very transparent, and it seems that yours weren't in this case Well, not yours, but the ones made with you!). It's disappointing, but it's life unfortunately. I still find BC to be the best place to buy, sell and trade gear
 2. Always check feedback! Did the seller have any? If so (or even if not!) make sure you leave some so that future buyers can be aware. Still, you can get the odd let-down. 3. Having just sold my Status bass, I find myself in the unusual position of having some cash to spend on gear! I don't need any more basses, so it's my backline that I am considering... First of all let me say that I love this cab. It is (for me) the perfect combination of lightness, portability, size and tone. The best thing about it (IMO) is the dispersion. You really can move around the room and hear the same bass sound wherever you go! Compare that to "normal" cabs, where you have to stand right next to your cab to hear the full range sound. This cab is amazing in that respect - a real game-changer! I would be very happy to keep it, but I have some money burning a hole in my pocket and have my next purchase in mind (TKS 2126), and that requires a bit more cash... These cabs were never particularly common, and now are pretty rare. They were the flagship of the Barefaced Generation 1 range, and for good reason. If you like it loud and clear - these cabs are just what you need (especially if weight is a consideration - but even if it isn't!). From the Barefaced website - "In January 2011 we sold the last example of the cab that started it all - the Big One. It remains an awesome piece of work, a tour-de-force that flattens most competitor's products if big clean sound is your goal... Thank you Big One, you did well, and may all those who gig with you enjoy your fatness, loudness and lightness for many years to come!" I hope Mr Discreet doesn't mind, but here is a link to his rather excellent for sale thread from a little while back. I can't match his incredible price, but, in my defence, my cab is newer than the one he was selling and doesn't have the issues that his did (i.e. the crack in the bottom and the relocated foot). Mine also has the metal corner protectors rather than the earlier plastic ones: http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 I removed the top handle as the screws had become loose. I never used it anyway, but I still have it and can refit it on request (or supply it separately). It is a bugger to refit as it involves removing the drivers, which I am loath to do. It doesn't affect the operation or portability of the cab. Condition is good for it's age, but this cab has been well-gigged by me and it's previous owner(s) and it shows some signs of wear. I got it from this very forum in trade for my Gen 2 Compact early last year. It also has a (slightly tatty now) Roqsolid cover. Trade-wise, I might be interested in other large (ish) but lightweight (ish) cabs (a limited field, I know!) - particularly Barefaced Big Twin, Vintage, Super 15, Super Twin; TKS, TecAmp and the like. Cash adjustments to be negotiated. The cab is located in Newcastle upon Tyne, but I am happy to drive around 60 miles in any direction (except East, or course!) to deliver or meet. That would be kind of be Berwick in the North, Carlisle to the West or North Yorkshire to the South. I also regularly stay in Dumfries and Galloway (Stranraer area), which makes a lot of the Borders and Western Scotland accessible. I have family in Edinburgh, so that is also a possibilty... You can't say I'm not accommodating! Any questions, drop me a PM!
 4. Pierre just bought my lovely old Status! Despite the best efforts of banks and shipping companies to make the deal difficult, it all actually went very smoothly in the end! Thanks Pierre - enjoy the bass mate! Highly recommended for a bullshit-free deal!
 5.
"Fish" was the only thing that Marillion stole that didn't come from Genesis....
Total bollocks, IMHO
 6.
I'm half French and therefore entitled to be an arse, too.
Half an arse surely? A buttock perhaps? I stooped to pick one up the other day... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgb7G9MPm-g
 7. If Thin Lizzy can continue (after a fashion) without Phil Lynott, then I think Yes should at least be allowed the option of going on without CS. I personally would find them a far less interesting band, but that's my problem - not theirs.
 8.
Nerves are natural, everyone gets them to a degree. Trick is getting to the point where they keep you sharp, rather than negatively affecting you. Gigging is like anything - the more you do it, the easier it gets...
Getting nervous shows that you give a damn and it matters to you. Everyone should get nervous - but for some people it can be horrific! Try to keep some sense of perspective - it may be your first gig, but most of the punters will have been to hundreds and understand what it is like when bands are starting off. Most punters will cut you some slack as long as you treat them with respect. Most important of all - try to look like you are enjoying yourselves - it's infectious! IME, audiences enjoy themselves far more when watching a lively band that make mistakes than a perfect band that look bored.
 9. Bass now sold and on its way to Belgium. Thanks for all the interest
 10. Listening to Fragile now as a tribute to one of my favourite bass players. RIP Fish
 11. But if you sell this, you'll be Gormless!!
 12. Good question! Having had all the "experts" convince us that lightweight Class D is the way to go, they are now all saying that the only way to get proper "heft/slam/thump/(insert adjective here)" is to go back to bulky, heavy amps with big manly transformers in them... I knew I should have kept my old Trace Elliot gear!
 13. Can't say I've noticed these issues - and the fan is quiet enough at rehearsal and gig volumes. The bloody control knobs are too close together though! I keep knocking the adjacent ones when I try to adjust anything!
If you can apply the words thick and chunky to it compared to anything other than a wafer, it"s probably not gonna suit me. I have gimpety hands. Thin, shallow necks all the way for me.....
Have you tried a Geddy Lee Jazz?
 15. Have a try at doing it yourself! For years I paid other people to do my tech work, then earlier this year I bought a soldering iron and a KiOgon wiring loom and swapped the pickups in my J&D jazz bass. I was shocked at how easy it was! You can get a decent soldering iron for about a tenner on Amazon. And you get the lovely smell of solder too... (or maybe that's just me ).
 16. On hold pending payment and arrangement of shipping
 17.
There was a guy call jack?
Jack?!?!? Oh....
They're not what you'd call chunky-ass by any means, but in my opinion you have slightly more wood in your hand (fnarr) than a standard Jazz. Nowhere near the size of a P-Bass neck though. The nut width is very similar to a J. If you're a committed J-man I don't think you'd be disappointed.
Sounds very similar to the neck on the J&D "1975 Vintage" J bass. Thick and chunky when compared to my Geddy Lee (unsurprisingly!) but still very comfortable and ergonomic. Those basses are well worth a try too... There's a modded, used one for sale at the moment - definitely great value! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/264661-upgraded-jack-and-danny-jazz-bass-pics-added/
 19.
I use www.interparcel.com This sends by UPS and costs about £11 plus insurance. A £300 bass would cost about £13 to send insured.
Read the insurance conditions and exclusions carefully though - you're often not as "covered" as you would like to think...
 20.
Would it be fair to say that ....... I'm at the start of my learning curve of playing bass. I need to do lots of homework.
Excellent attitude! You'll go far
