1. Have a try at doing it yourself! For years I paid other people to do my tech work, then earlier this year I bought a soldering iron and a KiOgon wiring loom and swapped the pickups in my J&D jazz bass. I was shocked at how easy it was! You can get a decent soldering iron for about a tenner on Amazon. And you get the lovely smell of solder too... (or maybe that's just me ).
2. On hold pending payment and arrangement of shipping
They're not what you'd call chunky-ass by any means, but in my opinion you have slightly more wood in your hand (fnarr) than a standard Jazz. Nowhere near the size of a P-Bass neck though. The nut width is very similar to a J. If you're a committed J-man I don't think you'd be disappointed.
Sounds very similar to the neck on the J&D "1975 Vintage" J bass. Thick and chunky when compared to my Geddy Lee (unsurprisingly!) but still very comfortable and ergonomic. Those basses are well worth a try too... There's a modded, used one for sale at the moment - definitely great value! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/264661-upgraded-jack-and-danny-jazz-bass-pics-added/
5.
I use www.interparcel.com This sends by UPS and costs about £11 plus insurance. A £300 bass would cost about £13 to send insured.
Read the insurance conditions and exclusions carefully though - you're often not as "covered" as you would like to think...
6.
Would it be fair to say that ....... I'm at the start of my learning curve of playing bass. I need to do lots of homework.
Excellent attitude! You'll go far

Lovely! Why is it that whenever I come on here with the intention of selling a bass, I spot all these great instruments that tempt me to buy them?
8.
MONSTER PLAYER.
Yes, it is! Oh, you mean CW?
9. Mmmmm - I like that!
10. Careful with the bumps there bonny lad! (Says he who has also just bumped it!)
11. Lovely bass Chris Wolstenholme is using there (very similar to mine!). I wish I could hear the lovely Status tone coming through the wall of effects... but I can't
12. Great ad and a lovely bass!
13.
It's only been up a couple of days, but very little interest sadly. So, it's either; A Dusty Hill tribute , even this light, is too out there for folk,
Could be the reverse headstock mate. That would put quite a few more reserved buyers off... not sure about it meself!
14. He is still investigating quotes... So this is now back to first come, first served. Lots of interest but still nothing firm. Anyone offering trades needs to bear in mind that the trade value of my Status is £1200, so unless yours is worth exactly the same there will have to be a cash adjustment in either direction... I know its obvious, but not everyone seems to be aware of that! I would also be interested in amp or cab trades.
15. South Tyneside Festival this Saturday. We're opening up (at lunchtime) so there might not be too many people around, but as someone else said - plenty of time to sample the food and drink!
16. Great price for an MIA Jazz!
17. These are great basses even in their standard/stock form - but with sympathetic upgrades they are as good as many Fenders. Lovely necks and bodies. Mine is my go to bass at the moment!
18.
Oh hello…no introduction, then?
19. Tentatively on hold until Wednesday 4pm while a prospective buyer investigates shipping quotes... Feel free to still express interest until then, but any subsequent offers will be put on the back burner for the next 30 hours or so.
20.
Thanks. Any 4 string status out there?
Have you seen my ad?
21. Gorgeous!! I saw one of these many years ago and have always lusted after them...
22. Bump for the new week! Plenty of interest, but mainly from the States. Shipping to the US seems to be very expensive (in the order of $400!!) so you'd have to be a pretty serious buyer to consider that! In the UK and EU it will be far more reasonable, but the bass in it's original flightcase weighs over 14.5kg - so a local collection would be far more sensible. I am happy to drive a reasonable distance (up to around 100 miles for a fuel consideration) to meet up with a buyer, but it will depend on the logistics... I also took loads more photos this weekend, showing every little tiny scratch and ding and the condition of the foam in the original flightcase. I won't bore you all by posting them here, but if you are interested just drop me a PM or enquire via this thread Still open to trades, so let me know what you have!
23. Dunno about the P, but I put a set of their J pickups in my J&D 1975. Very pleased with the result! Very authoritative without being shouty, rich without being thick, middy without being honky. Louder than standard pickups, but not silly loud and causing distortion... I like 'em!
24. That finish is just awesome. Why aren't there more purple basses?
