1.
Agree that this is not so much a really useful test as it seems like the chassis were just fitted into a box that may have been designed for a 12 or 15.
That's a good point. All the amplification "boffins" are always telling us that the cab needs to be specifically designed (tuned?) to the specific driver (or combination of drivers) that will be placed inside it. So surely putting different speakers into the same box negates that?
 2.
Even more confident after seeing others replies.
Yep! That's how things tend to go on here... I wanna know the answers NOW!!!!
 3.
I haven't voted...
Ah, come on! What are you afraid of?
 4. While I don't doubt the experiences of the respondents so far, I do think that a lot of us hear with our eyes and muscles. If we heft in a heavy piece of gear, we expect it to sound "heavyweight" too... Maybe another blind test is called for (like the one relating to cone diameters)?
 5.
Cab A 10 Cab B 15. Cab C 12
I am really interested to see if you are correct JTUK! You've said a number of times that you would be able to tell the difference...
 6.
I liked cab A best, didn't mind cab C but found cab B a little too dark sounding for my tastes.
I felt exactly the same! And although I am not naive enough to believe that speaker diameter is the only factor that affects tone, there were definite differences audible here. In fact, I am surprised how different B sounds to the other two, which are more similar. My guess is that A was the fifteen, B was the twelve and C was the tens. But I won't be upset in the least if I am totally wrong!
A test of this sort will only tell you how the speakers you're listening to it on sound. Even listened to on a good system the test is of dubious value...
Maybe so, but there were clear audible differences. So surely if everything else was kept constant (as it was in the test protocol) and I always listen using the same speakers in the same position - the test is "fair" and the results (whatever they are!) valid? What else could account for the sonic differences I heard (or thought I heard)?
 7.
What is the issue? Seems good to me.
Who said there was an issue?
 8.
My bass is a solid body and easily loud enough for practicing unplugged.... then again I have a somewhat agricultural technique...
Me too...
 9.
Great cabs these! To help your sale, try and get recent photos of the cab itself, including the back plate. Also, is it 4 ohms or 8 ohms? And good luck
Agreed. A location would be useful too... It's a tough market at the moment so sellers have to make an effort if they want a sale
 10. Apart from the colour, is this amp any different to the Mark King Signature model? And where are you in Durham?
 11. If you don't mind me asking, what is the difference between this head and the Jean-Jacques Burnel model?
 12.
2 Barefaced 112 cabs will easily replace any 410.
Agreed, but the OP is talking about getting one. Buying two new BF cabs is a significant investment...
 13.
you need a headphone amp of sorts, then plug the send into the input of the headphone amp (sounds like you plugged the headphones straight into the send?!)
I did... because I don't own a headphone amp (and have never needed one before!). Hopefully tomorrow's rehearsal will clarify a few points, but I will bring my cab home with me too so that I can do some more investigation in comfort should I need to.
 14.
At the moment there are only a tiny fraction of our customers on the map - and the discontinued models are just as important to players discovering us as our current range. Sign up!
I intend to! But the site is blocked at work...
 15.
Try splitting at your next gig's sound check though & see How it sounds.
Just what I was about to say! No substitute for experience!
 16.
i have no possibility to test the Barefaced, so i thought about getting YOUR advice!

is there a barefaced owner near you? http://barefacedbass...refaced-map.htm
I've just looked at that map, and there are a lot of BC members who own BF cabs but are not on it (myself and Matt P included). To the OP: Where are you based?
 17.
Just 'voting' with my ears rather than measured responses. I don't particularly dislike mids but when over-compensated for they can sound very harsh and brittle
True - which is why most new BF owners have to spend a while re-EQing their amps to allow for the suddenly-present midrange! The first time I used a Compact I found it "shouty" in the midrange. It was only after I changed my amp settings that it all made sense...
 18.
...which was very mid-forward
It's not that BF cabs accentuate the mids, its more that they don't hide them like so many other big brand cabs do...
 19.
Big baby2 might be a better option. Big baby 2 is probably as loud as your 2x 2x 10's.
Yes - that sounds like a better idea... But as Marvin suggests - contact Alex at Barefaced for advice.
 20. You're asking a 1x12 to do the job of 2 2x10s? That's a pretty tall order if you play at high volumes... The SCs are great cabs, but I have serious doubts whether they could produce as much "sound" as your current set-up. Is there any particular reason (other than portability) that you want to change?
 21. MK recorded a great version of "I feel free" on his Influences album a while back, and he has been a big Cream/Bruce fan for ever IIRC. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoEC4j6VW44
 22. How long will you hold the bridge for? I'd like it... And I'll pay straight away!
 23.
Ki0gon is the man for such things
Indeed! http://basschat.co.uk/user/7835-kiogon/
 24.
What I've never been able to figure out is, if the traditional given is smaller speakers for high and top end, why do guitarists use 12's?
So they can set really bassy tones and compete with us bassists for sonic space!
