  1. Interesting! I see what you mean now. Here’s a few more better photos of mine as well. As far as I can tell from the pots and the pickups soldering. It looks untampered with from what I can see too.
  2. I’m not 100% sure if the tape was always there. Was that a normal thing? I thought it was just to hold it together
  3. Any way how mine were Identified as USA or JPN? Trying to learn a thing or two for myself too as to what you guys were looking out for when ID’ing this sort of thing
  4. Very cool we were able to find so many different models from the same year. So it seems american pickups typically have the cloth wiring, and japanese pickups such as mine tended to have the plastic (at least we think mine are japanese). Of course there’s always the chance that they used what parts they had on hand regardless on what pickups? Still not totally sure.
  5. https://reverb.com/en-fi/item/56402857-1982-fender-jv-jb62-115-jazz-bass-1982-nitro-finish-mij-japan found this old listing. Not the same model, Has very similar wiring, slightly different wiring color, but other than that it looks pretty close.
  6. Interesting. I think it was mentioned that mine were japanese not american, so maybe that might have to do with the inconsistency with the electronics. I’ll try to see if I can find some more examples of 1982’s with japanese pots/pickups and see if we can compare. If you find anything please feel free to post and let me know
  7. Gone ahead and translated the page, looks like the 3 models were the standard, 62 reissue, and the stacked knob version. I texted my buddy who has an 82 JV pbass reissue and here’s a look at his electronics as well. Mine appears to be the middle model being the reissue but maybe I am still missing some specific info on each model
  8. Oh this completely passed my mind as a possibility! Sorry still rather new and unfamiliar to all this research and verification
  9. I’ve never seen this before, do you have any place i can find more info to see which ones i have?
  10. Appreciate the confirmation. Was there ever an explanation for some having different wiring than others? despite being made the same day?
  11. Thank you for the reply. I read somewhere that only the first few months of 1982 production had full plastic wires. Not sure how true that is, but yes mine is also a JV serial as well. I just found it strange that I found another with the exact same day as mine with different wiring. But I am told that mine looks more period correct/legit now, which is reassuring.
  12. you are very correct. take that phrase with a grain of salt haha
  13. also forgot to mention I also found some that had a mix of both plastic wires and cloth that also were apparently original according to the sellers listing
  14. Thank you for the insight, will keep this in mind. Curious to see what others may say as well.
