  1. The black 1979 Thunderbird was sold to Cliff Evan’s from the band Tank, who sold it to Steven James from Dogs D’Amour. It had had 3 headstock breaks and the control cavity was broken off and repaired. He also had it painted white. Steven later sold it to GAK in Brighton and they sold it to the Bass Centre. This was around 1995/95…that’s where the trail ends… the red refin on with the Badass is most likely the sunburst 1979 Thunderbird. Pictured below is the black (last seen as white) with Steven James playing it as it looked when it vanished. There currently is a refin white 1977 thunderbird bass for sale on Reverb from The Music Locker. I reached out to them and Jono connected me with the previous owner of the refin modded white Thunderbird. He told me he bought it from a guy named Steve Barker from Electric Ladyland, a music shop in the UK somewhere. He also told me that Steve guy was kind of an odd eccentric guy. Steve claimed that Pete way sold him the bass. I was told it was originally black and had head stock repair. The previous owner told me he had it painted white and changed all of the parts to gold. There’s also a photo below from the Reverb Auction. It’s not the famous 1979 black bird that Pete Way played and is shown in his book nor is it the one that I tracked down after speaking with Nigel Mogg, Cliff Evans and Stephen James so if anyone knows anybody that bought a refin white 79 Thunderbird with headstock and control cavity repairs around 1996 from the Base Center here in the UK, Let me know. I like to buy the bass and restore it to original.
