1.
I just checked that out and the playback sounds very impressive! At the moment I use guitar pro for everything, but now I'm considering getting this (I'll probably use them together then)
Sorry, how did you check it out? By the way, I got the sheet music for that Zep track we talked about earlier. It's a long way from the tab version -- and it's actually quite tricky, at least to an incompetent like me. Cheers Mark
 2. Hi, folks -- Can anybody recommend notation software to convert my random plunks into printed music? To be honest, I don't know where to start -- so any suggestions would be welcome. I was looking at something like Finale SongWriter. Thanks in advance. Mark
 3. Rock journalism is people who can't write interviewing people who can't talk for people who can't read -- Frank Zappa. Cheers Mark
 4. Maybe you could set up an experiment in a shop -- put a relic on display with an enormous price tag then ask potential buyers how much they think it's worth, before and after you reveal its true status. That's not very exciting but there must be a great psychological test you could run on the subject. Fascinating stuff Cheers Mark
 5.
Idk, would it best to have a bass head? I was looking at ampeg heads but I'm not sure what to look for in them since I never had a bass head. I have a Carvin amp right now, but I want to upgrade to something better. And yea, lol. I'm US. Forgot to mention that lol.
I use an SVT-3 Pro, which I also like despite its reputation as being under-powered. I believe Mr Hoppus also has a couple of them. Cheers Mark
 6. I use this cab and I get on with it. It's heavy but still reasonably portable and gives me the vintage tone I like. What amp are you thinking of using with it? Cheers Mark PS -- I take it, given the time of your post and the Guitar Center link, that you're in the US. You shouldn't have any trouble getting Ampeg gear at a good price -- we pay twice as much in England.
 7.
MB1. Traffic warden Roadkill?
Or Aaaagh, Watch Out For That Old Lady Crunch. Cheers Mark
 8.
...and what, pray tell, is a fimble?
A children's TV character. Here's the adult's guide: Fimbles guide Hope that helps Cheers Mark
 9.

Look, there's a Fimble on the back That's a stunning bass, though. Cheers Mark
 10. Lovely birds-eye board -- and lovely bass Cheers Mark
 11.
Cheers Mark. How was your fabulous bass working out?
Yours looks gorgeous, mate. Congratulations. It's amazing how the blue changes in different light -- it almost looks purple in some of those shots (probably due to the red case lining). Mine is lovely in terms of playability and build quality -- but I've had little chance to try it with a band. We're rehearsing in a few days' time so hopefully I can provide some sort of review after that. Enjoy yours! Cheers Mark
 12.
Nearly, but not quite. Stayed in all day today - no bass. Rang Jon about 10 times for a tracking number or something - no-one picking up the phone. I'm now at work tomorrow, and despairing.
I know how you feel. Fate always drags out the last few days and hours of these things. I hope it turns up pronto. Cheers Mark
 13. Thanks for the picture -- wow, that's nice. Cheers Mark
 14. Welcome, XT. That bass looks great. Now show us the rest ... Cheers Mark
 15.
So do any basses work the other way? Do any European basses command premium prices in the states? What would you take over in the battered flight case to sell over there?
Of course, Wals are very much in demand in the US. But if I had one, I'd just keep it Cheers Mark
 16.
Don't rule out FatBeams! They're good (but quite soft feeling- due to the round core) If they're good enough for Marcus Miller, they're good enough for me... (45,65,80,100)
Thanks, Lfalex. But two packs of Lo-Riders are in the air over Germany. Cheers Mark
 17. Thanks for that -- I've been looking for one of those. Not very hard, obviously Cheers Mark
 18.
Be careful because stainless is also bright of course. I've found that the combination of Lo-Rider Stainess, J-Retro, maple neck and Aero pick-ups seems to work rather well. Like all things it's a matter of experimentation until you find a combination that works for you. Problem with the cost of bass strings is that it tends to get a bit expensive.
Bright is also good. Mine will be Lo-Riders, maple neck and Nordstrands. Sunbeams sound pretty good but something just a touch brighter would be perfect. I'll let you know how it goes ... Cheers Mark
 19.
It was very late when I wrote that. The DJ5 has Stainless Lo-Riders whereas the DJ4 has Nickels. I'm really happy with the tension on both but find the Stainless are a bit growlier so I will put Stainless on the DJ4 as well next change.
Thanks again. Growly is good -- so I'll go for stainless. Cheers Mark
 20.
Try this place, very nearly half the UK price and you should get them within a few days, I tend to buy a couple of sets at a time to save on postage. http://saitenkatalog.de/shop1/product_info...de9fda121756b18
Thanks, 6string. That's exactly where I was going. Cheers Mark
 21.
Mark, I have LoRiders on my Lakland DJ5 and they are magic however I also have Lo-Riders on my DJ4 and they are also magic. Hmmm.
Thanks, obbm. I take it you like them, then? Cheers Mark
 22. Thanks, guys. Alex -- thanks for the link. I realise I can get them cheaper from the States but I need to get some within the next few days. I'll probably buy from Germany. And I don't want to be messing with buying two sets of everything. It looks like Lo-Riders might be worth a try. Cheers Mark
 23.
i used to use HiBeams30 but now use Status string, for me they seem about the same and are a lot cheaper!
Thanks -- but I'm really looking at the difference between those two DRs. Cheers Mark
 24.
i find lo riders to snap very very easily they are the only strings iv ever broke the E string on...
Hmm, thanks for that. I pretty much only play with a pick and usually give the E a good hammering. I'll bear that in mind. Cheers Mark
 25. Hi, folks -- I'm looking to replace my DR Sunbeams with something a little brighter. I understand that Lo-Riders are tighter versions of Hi-Beams, useful for slap and accurate harmonics. I'm not really into slap but I wouldn't mind tighter strings because I hit them rather hard at times -- and the E especially tends to flop about. Has anybody used both? Can you tell me how different the Lo-Riders are? Would they be suitable for a rock plodder like me? Normally, I'd just buy two packs and try them. But at £40 a shot ... Cheers Mark
