1.
Whether or not you can take your bass onto the plane with you is entirely down to whim of the check-in/flight staff and no amount of arguing on your behalf will change their mind. Anything other than a heavy-duty flight case will not be happy with airport baggage handling.
+1. Best go with the idea that it'll end up in the hold. I've even had trouble getting guitars onboard trans-Atlantic flights. Cheers Mark
2. I interviewed Squire last week (great guy) and was offered tickets to Hammersmith yesterday -- but it clashed with my covers band's only rehearsal before a charity gig I'd like to have seen them, even without Anderson. Cheers Mark
3.
They had used the chord sequence of "message in a bottle" to announce a Belgian cook ("cock" Rodman joked) earlier in the show (he wrote a book about cooking "SOS Cooking") so they only new the verse. They were surprised since the soundmix normally is a bit better and they would have known the structure better (I know the musicians too so I'm pretty sure) http://www.kookeiland.be/kookeiland.asp?fi...VD-SOS-Piet.htm
Fair enough. The band must have loved it Cheers Mark
4. They weren't that surprised -- they had the music on the stands in front of them, as Sting pointed out. Good effort, though, under pressure Cheers Mark
5. Learn the stuff well, learn slightly more than they're expecting, turn up on time in a chilled frame of mind and remember that you're auditioning them just as much as they are you. At my last one, I got the job because one bloke didn't turn up and the other hadn't learned enough material. So I was sh*t but the best available Cheers Mark
6. I've had dealings with them on the drum side of things (my son's starting) and they've been wonderful. But the bass stuff is lost in the basement. I'd probably insist on them dragging an amp upstairs to the sound-proof booths at the back -- then they'd know where I am. They're too guitar-orientated, I'd say. Cheers Mark
7.
Well Eddy Grundy has a hat with horns like that so are you in an Archers Tribute band? Fallon and the Lost Dads maybe? Alt. Borchester Country?
Damn, you've outed me Cheers Mark
8.
I've got the 'Xtra Clef' on this page - http://www.eyelandenterprises.com/html/straps.html Mine's done with a black strap, burgundy pad and gold clef. It's very comfortable and beautifully made - well worth the wait....
I've got an Eyeland Straposaurus -- they're pricey but very nicely made. Bet you can't spot the musical genre Cheers Mark

Yup, what Les says is right. I've used the line out on mine straight into a desk and it worked fine. Here's the manual, in case you don't have it. SVT 3 Pro manual Cheers Mark
12. Do you know a bassist who would go along with you to try stuff out? I'm sure somebody in your area on here would help -- most of them probably jump at any excuse to visit a music store As to value, I'm in the 'buy the best you can afford' camp. You'll enjoy playing a decent bass and if you prefer a different brand a few years down the line at least you'll have something good to sell on. I took up classical guitar about ten years ago, bought a stunning guitar and I loved the tone every time I picked it up. It made learning a pleasure. Cheers Mark
13. Cheers, Stu. My first Basschat purchase. Thanks for making it such a pleasure Cheers Mark
14. I bought Stu's Mesa Boogie 400+. His description was honest and in-depth, the comms were great and he's a really nice guy. I'd recommend him to anyone. Buy and sell with confidence. Cheers Mark
15. Like it -- it reminds me a bit of The Fixx (hope that's not an insult -- they're one of my favourites of the Eighties) Cheers Mark
16. Link he no work. Cheers Mark

Just bought another cable from Dave -- 2m jack to Speakon -- which arrived in super-fast time, as usual. I ordered it Monday night, it was on my doormat Wednesday morning. Amazing service, lovely cables, great bloke. Cheers Mark

21. Good to meet you too, mate -- and thanks for the guided amp tour and coffee. I've handed your bank details to the missus who will work her magic as soon as possible. And a bassic bits speaker cable is on its way. I'll be in touch about Saturday. Cheers Mark

23. Anyone lend me a tenner? Oh, and a public thank you to tayste for his advice. *huge applause noise* Cheers Mark
24. Hi, Stu -- Just a couple of questions, if I may. Do you know when it was last re-valved? And when was it first sold? (I guess the receipt will tell you that). Cheers Mark
25. I've had dealings with a guy called Chris Hewlett [[email protected]]email here who's worked for Quo and Deep Purple. He's a nice guy, seems honest and has good contacts in the national press. Not sure how much he charges, though. Cheers Mark
