1.
Thanks for the real good advices. Maybe I got a good offer for G5...
if you do go for a G5, make sure to get an expression pedal that works well with it like the Korg kvp 001. .. it opens up this pedal SO much !
 2. sansamp a bit 'scooped' for my liking. fuzzrocious also do their version of the 'rat' sound (rat-tail)
 3. yo ! you may be better off re-posting this in the Effects forum, that's where most of us pedal junkies check first .. check out the offerings from 'Fuzzrocious'. they'll have something to fit your bill. http://www.fuzzrociouspedals.com/
 4. thanks for the bump !
 5.
Real bass players don't use picks because they use a bow instead.
a 'dickie bow' ? bwahaha
 6.
Would a dead spot on a bass fretboard affect the triggered sound in any way. Am i right in assuming the pickup (Roland GK3B or whatever ) would detect the drop off in sustain and the midi signal react accordingly? Hope I am making myself clear here. Have a nice old Overwater which has dead spots around the 7th on the D string but don't want to get rid of it as it is a rare old bird but have plenty of keyboards/racks. BB
yes, you're correct. speak to Shep about this. it's why he bothers with a decent bass as a trigger for synth.
 7.
I'm of the opinion that the very best players would be competent at fingers, pick and slap. I play fingers and slap 99% of the time. But if a tune needs a pick, then it gets a pick. Funnily enough I play with fingers for a very simple reason... I kept losing picks!
that was me too ! lol.

 9.
It's not just that bass players that use picks are inferior - it's that bass players in general are inferior. I mean, come on - don't we all secretly wish we could play lead guitar (as opposed to rhythm guitar, which is almost as inferior as bass) ? Sometimes I feel so inferior playing behind a guitar solo, swooning over every flourish of wildly exaggerated notes, that I crumble inside and forget to play - but then the song falls apart and the guitarist screams at me to keep playing because now, all of a sudden, HIS playing is irrelevant and he actually seems to NEED me to keep playing. Can we really be worthless and irreplaceable at the same time? As a closet guitarist, I am so confused as to what to do with the bass - do I play? When do I play? What do I play? Less is more? Pick or fingers? Lock in with the kick drum? Don't lock in with the kick drum? Meticulously plot the cruel and agonising death of everyone not in the rhythm section whilst playing a repetitive bass line ad nauseum between yet another heart breaking guitar solo? Oh, cruel life - why can't I be as fluid as Jeff Beck? And as irony would have, Jeff Beck plays guitar with his fingers.............
man, i thought i was insecure.. get a grip. bass is everything.
 10. up for sale, Boss FT-2, bought recently. fantastic condition, boxed, instructions, a good one for funk, has expresssion pedal socket for 'wah', aswell as up/down auto function. £[s]50[/s] £45 posted. i have too many filters, and not enough money.
 11. this thread is useless without picks.
 12. weird how people's cars go to their heads anyway, back on topic, this should have been posted in the Effects forum, as i would like to see other users post their settings/experiences, (other than the pure frustration of the interface, of course ..)
 13. good man ! i block 'em better than any F1 driver.
 14.
Yep that's their normal facial expression, "how dare another car be on the road".
or, "i've got LED lights, move along peasant .."
 15.
... a Chunk Systems Octavius Squeezer. I bought one of these off of ebay a couple of months ago, and it's crying out for a PC interface. Having said that hours, no make that weeks worth of patience and trial and error with all the various settings in the interface, and I've finally started to configure some of the synth, filter and fuzz tones that I need. It took me long enough to learn how to save your changes due to hidden parameters and permissions. Anyone else had experience of this pedal? Btw, I'm not slagging the Squeezer off, now I've finally got to grips with it, it is a wonderful and (eventually) very versatile pedal, but, why oh why, does it have to be so complicated !!
i wouldn't part with mine for anything. it's an enigma in a box, wrapped in another enigma .. basically only used for fuzz / filter for me, i'd love to use it for synth, but it's more unpredictable than the global economy or the weather.
 16.
Rush were and are beautiful. Put your dukes up if you disagree.
no disagreement at all, but my dukes trump Wayne's ..
 17.
transphobe? (Not trying to be ranty here! I was a big Pumpkins fan in my teens but hearing about his spat with Devi Ever put me off the guy somewhat.)
yeh, it was yours truly who started that thread..
 18. damn ! have to agree with him on some of those points.. but i'm glad i don't share his enthusiasm for watching men in shorts rolling around on canvas. oh, but at around 14 mins onwards he contradicts massively
 19.
You should hear what he has to say about how the RUSH song Entre Nous affected him. He's a huge RUSH fan.
he's also a ... (no i can't say it)
 20. i've still got a Hartke Bass attack and use it as my main tone-shaper. can't fault it, except for the footprint.
 21. i was searching for the Neville brothers version on YT, but found this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=At-YPyVW9R8 starts a bit mellow, but rocks it perfect.
 22.
Checked out some videos of the xciter and impressed by what it does - now on an ebay saved search
good move. in fact, the only problem i forsee, is that once you switch it on, you'll want that as your main sound, and then something extra when the guitarist goes AWOL, .. (i would decript the letters AWOL, but i'm on best behaviour at the mo .. )
 23. like i said. PM me.
 24. liked his approach to the set-up, and the Kaos pad looks like a fantastic device .. in the right hands (probably not mine )
