Ped, you need to do that 'point to the horizon' thing that they do in bad catalogues. oh, and a matching female model would be good too.

i use one mainly for practising along to, although will probably use it in the 3-piece instrumental band, so the drummer can switch to guitar occasionally. it's an Alesis SR-16. great sounds and plenty of scope, although step editing can be tiresome. they go for £40-£50 used. otherwise, use software if you've got a convenient laptop as a less limiting portable solution.

i'm also having some luck with my octavius squeezer at this type of thing, by using the same sound on different patches running at different lfo rates,but the user interface can drive you bloody insane. edit : and of course, it can't be controlled by an expression pedal. also awaiting the source audio b.e.f.pro, i'll see what that can do.
