2.
What are my options for replacing my Markbass F500 that will output more than 300W at 8ohms? Not too bothered about form factor.
Genz-Benz Shuttle (6.0 or above) / Streamliner ?
  3. Live Music in Peterborough is sadly due to close, probably by the end of the month. It's a shame to see it go. I bought my first bass there when i were a nipper, although it was Stix drum centre at the time. some bargains to be had, so if you're a local, pop in and see if anything appeals. RIP.
  4.
Planet Earth or Girls on Film. Original and best.
and seconded. also 'notorious'. simple but great.,,oh and 'union of the snake'..
  5. no, but if i were on a march this would be the one.. funk those soldiers up.
  6. yeh, some people can't be bothered to be a gobsh*te like me. i don't have a problem with that as long as they are honest sellers/buyers.
  7.
Haha I knew someone would mention the ODB-3! I really loved mine for the 4 years I used it live, not one complaint - it does what it does very well, especially in a band situation and there is a horrible prejudice built up around it which I don't think it deserves - generally as a result of people not understanding how to the get the most out of the pedal and hating the fizzy, bee sound which it generates with gain maxed. Sorry I don't mean to rant on or be obnoxious - nice board PauBass!
cool, i've always been curious because of the negative comments, but never tried it myself. i may have to try one out and ignore the bad press.
  8.
Here is mine Still need to sort out a few labels for some sounds though. The VT is quite likely to leave the board and I'm still waiting for a fuzz pedal and possibly a Synth too. The Gigrig is an awesome bit of kit, it makes things so much easier when it comes to combine pedals and switch them on with just one click. GL Custom Case. The whole thing is powered via a Gigrig Generator and then Gigrig distributors. George L and Lava cables for all connections and Pedalboard tape to stick the pedals to the board.
awesome board. i've swapped my VT bass for the b3k too. although i am holding onto it as back-up. how come you're keeping the boss od (out of interest) ?
  9.
Hi guys Ok so I use a Mesa boogie M6 carbine and boogie 2x12, my bass is a stingray 5. I love this set up, loads of power and tone. I am looking to add a bit of valve grit to it, not mad distortion my bass xxl does that in spades. Anyone got any ideas for pedal recommendations, I've been reading up on the Tech 21 range of character pedals, mainly the VT bass. Perhaps I need to change my amp? Any ideas/ experiences would be welcome Cheers Thebassman
the VT bass is a great pedal, and adds huge character to a (relatively) clean amp like my genz. works great with my sterling 4 and ibby 5. also have a look at the darkglass b3k. more expensive, but also more versatile and capable of sounding more aggressive, if you like that type of thing. sorry. this is the 3rd thread i've recommended this pedal in, i promise i don't work for them, but i am totally besotted with mine. edit. btw.. what style of bass tone are you after (youtube examples etc..) ?
  10. that's sad news.. to brighten up your day i'll tell you of a guy i knew who once borrowed a double bass from a school where he'd done some teaching. he fancied giving it the stray cat strut, and tried to stand on it whilst playing, promptly reducing it to so many matchsticks. ..perhaps i shouldn't have laughed but it was impossible not to.
  11. some more opinions here.. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f36/seriousl...80-bddi-793348/
  12. aha ! there she lay.. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...&hl=mxr+m80 actually it's only me and a few others. scrap that, look on Tb ?
  13.
Just wondered if anyone has any opinions about these two units? I'm leaning toward the MXR at the moment, just because it looks more logical (to me), and seems to do exactly what I want. I know the Sansamp is very popular, but have any of you had chance to compare the two and could enlighten me further? Thanks.
personally, i preferred the mxr, but each to their own (and i'd guess that different basses would make a difference). the sans-amp was good but a little too scooped for my liking. but i ended up getting rid of both and using the Hartke VXL as a tone-shaper and the darkglass b3k for drive and grit on top. i'm sure others will have differing opinions depending on what style of music and instrument etc.. edit: come to think about it, i'm sure there's been threads on this very subject already, i'll have a squizz..
  14.
To my ears Darklass is rather modern sounding OD and I wouldn't call it warm and round. I'd suggest Crowther Audio Hot Cake!
that is definitely true of some settings on there, but believe me, it is capable on low-drive settings in fat mode (and some eq'ing) of rounding out the sound. i think it's just the demos you've seen so far tend to illustrate the more aggressive tones available.
I'm assuming that the Boss CS-3 isn't worth looking at? It seems to have all the controls you might need? If I get a compressor, will I be able to set it up and leave it on the same setting for all styles, or am I gonna have to keep tweaking it all the time?
therein lies the problem.. for me at least (not being of engineer stock). i used to have an mb compressore (one of the better pedal comprtessors) but..i faced much difficulty switching between fx and styles of playing. with no metering (except a single led) it was difficult to tell when and where it made any difference until it mushed my playing. .. although hopefully someone more experienced than me could explain how to set up a compressor to cope with such scenarios ?
  16.
can he? is that an urban myth?
and he can play xylophone at the same time with his feet.
  17.
He can suck himself off, too - but it's not on YouTube
now that's what i call talent. joking aside - a truly awesome musician, one of the best of our time.
  18. the slightly more expensive option (though similar in price to a tubescreamer..) is the Darkglass b3k. very versatile, blendable, and three distinct settings, two of which would qualify as 'warm' - just dial in how much drive you want. this is one pedal i will never sell.

live ? in my experience, no. slap can benefit from some compression, but otherwise you're just crushing dynamics. ..and the guitar will win.
  20. £740 ?? i think mine's heading for the 'bay..
  21.
I am sure this is a simple question with a simple answer but I wouldn't know where to start looking other than Basschat! I have a Zoom B2.1u multi-effect pedal that I use with it's AC adapter - with an output of 9v DC 300mv. I have a Boss LS-2 line selector that I currently use with batteries, which seems daft, given that I have an AC adapter on the go for the Zoom unit. According to the manual it uses a PSA series AC Adapter - I have no idea what this means. I just plugged the Zoom adapter into the Boss unit, and it seems to work (in that the lights came on when I stomped on it). Is this adapter ok to use? Then, hooking the two up, the Boss unit has an AC output for daisy chaining and, again, the manual says it needs to be a PCS-20A power cable. I Googled this and it seems an 8 way lead is all you can get - can you get a double only? Ta.
shouldn't be a problem. if the Zoom unit can run on batteries, then DC is o.k. i couldn't find a double connector cable either, so i'll keep ane eye on this for reference. i found a five-way on the johnnyshredfreak site.
  22. looks like the hot-hand controller could make for some onstage 'shape-throwing'. how cool.. edit : and being able to assign the footswitch to different parameters is a very useful feature.
  23. amazing set-up Shep. you probably dim half the lights in Nottingham with that thing. you should call it the 'sub-station'
  24. it's not dub that it starts out as..
