1.
..with today's technology has come impatience along with dwindling ability and desire to puzzle-solve.
and that is our mission. ffs. you only get old once.
2. nice post Rachel, although i do feel the need to point out that music does not necessarily have to have popularity as it's destination point. .. in fact that is what depresses me about (some) music.
3.
I think part of the problem is that ... we're still using the same 12 notes ... There's still a lot of great music to be written.
post edited and reassembled. i've always been interested in the subject of scales, and how they relate to language and environment. there are some great books on this subject. musical scales can be influenced by something as natural as bird-song etc.. the digital age is where we start to substitute animal influence for artificial (machine) influence, a reflection of how we are putting our mark on the planet. this is perhaps a bit deep for a monday. sorry.
4. yes. music is a reflection of life. if there were no new music, life would be even less worth living.
5. Nige, please post a photo of your bag. i hope it gets returned.
6. he's one of those who either inspires or makes you want to give up.

8.
Disposable Penis has to be the best band name ever!
perhaps it should also be the collective noun for a group of bassists (see other thread)
9.
Right!....so we're back to talking about cocks! This is more my area!
how about one of these ? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-21431678
10. just got one of these on here. it's a versatile, robust pedal, with very little bottom end loss. the ability to switch on and off just by placing foot on pedal is a total revelation. BUMP for you. anyone on the lookout for a wah should definitely check this out.
11.
?
cheap dirt. i see what you did there.
12.
You knew that didn't you? http://en.wikipedia....ollective_nouns
great link ! i like 'a drunkenship of cobblers'.
13. a chatter.
14. 'dirt cheap' - iswydt
15.
One of the things I adore about Basschat is the sometimes heated discussions about divisive subject matter, that are almost always civil despite heated exchanges. Only once in a while do they become exothermic, sometimes with new members, sometimes with old members having a bad day. Very occasionally it becomes like watching a fracas outside the pub, morbidly fascinating while being rather distasteful. But I doubt the participants feel bad for more than a day or two, and when the bruises have gone, all is usually well. I believe we learn a lot from people arguing strongly held beliefs, it's only when they descend to petty name calling and general lack of respect that they can make Basschat look partly puerile, and get uncomfortable to be a part of. But the umpires always step in. I have to say though that I hate to see threads locked unless there is a good legal reason, or if it looks like someone may get bloodied. Other than that, I rarely see 'bad' threads, I think those who say they do are a being a bit oversensitive.
excellent. 10/10.
16. she's trying to keep you sober for later on. pros: the wedding budget, a sustainable post-gig performance. cons: having to deal with relatives relatively sober. i'm planning to play at my funeral.
17. excellent interview. i like the way he takes a feed from the snare into the echo pedal for the dub parts. great tip ... !
18. Led Zep's D-yer Maker has it's very own unique tuning too..
19. bought Derrick's g-labs bass wah. very efficient, posted next day, all good. cheers Derrick !

23. oooohhh ! but, how about that for a bargain ! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/197695-3leaf-audio-groove-regulator-i-75l-posted/
24.
As the title says, I've been looking at getting an envelope filter to fill up my pedalboard and give that funk into my tone. The problem is, there's so many! Janek is swearing by the DOD FX25 (older version without blend) but I'd like to see what you guys think. I'd like to spend less than £100 in the preowned market, and another notable point is that I use flatwounds on my bass, anyone here used that with a funk box?
were you willing to up the price point, an Iron Ether Xerograph deluxe would be the darkest and funkiest of choices.
25. genres etc.. but i'd say .. use the fretboard like a painter uses a pallette. stick to just a few colours (notes) and manipulate them in different orders/times the expression comes from the strokes. sheeeeittt ! how poxy am i ?
