1. not this! this! I may have to get a bass collected from a seller by courier...wouldn't know where to start!?! ..one thing troubles me, if it turns up damaged, how to know if the damage was present before collection or during transit....barring snapped necks any help most welcome PS a polite and formal dining education thread too!
2. I mailed the seller..."....no serial number"
3. That piccy of the headstock, should you be able to see the 'decal' outline under the laquer....not being a Fender buff I wouldn't know for sure....I like the colour combo though! http://cgi.ebay.co.u...ue#ht_64wt_1330

5. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morgan_(singer)....turns out this guy is a judge on Italy's version of the X factor!
6. As an aside I once met a guy who worked for a music shop here in Norfolk, the shop bought a batch of 'no-name-so-put-ya-own-name-on-it' chinese bass's. When they started unpacking them they had all had a bad case of
7. I've always thought you wouldn't want to keave your bass near a radiator, out in the rain etc, but in a hot car wouldn't worry me too much. .....I mean, once a mass produced bass is built it's off from Asia, Mexico, US etc via various poorly controlled environments as regards temp' and humidty.... .... such as first cardboard box, then back of lorries, storage warehouses, metal containers used for shipping, metal container then goes on top of ship across hostile, stormy salty seas, container sits around in port docks, container goes off to central warehouse where basses are removed from the container, back into another warehouse via lorry, off to a dealer, shipped via Royal Fail into your home....they (basses) seem to be able to handle it OK.
8. There's a Peavey Grind BXP near me for sale, but it's a 35" scale. Always fancied having a go on a Peavey, they seem to get a fair bit of love by those whom have played one. But, having never tried anything other than 34" are 35" incher's they that different to play?
9. Yawn, yet another CV v VMJ thread.......but bare with it..... ..... I've got one of each and the CV is a far warmer tone, with the VMJ being quite bright 'in ya face'....I found took a look under the hood on both and also found some Fender schematic/service diagrams which covers pretty much everything Fender (Squier) have built.....from Affinity's upwards. .....the CV runs 250K pots with .047uf cap, the VM runs 500K pots with the same cap, I'm guessing this could go some way to explain the difference?
10. Is that a peavey grind?

12. New to me, i'd never heard of one until today? anyone had a fiddle with one? i like the idea. In case its not just me..mexican p bass with rear mounted active big humbucker .....like a stingray p bass! i think they were only around in the mid noughties?
13. Fitted the .1uf cap with existing 500k pots....didnt really make much difference....im going to fit the 250k pots and report back. my tone pots seem to only wind off tone when at 95% setting....should i swop the pot type from linear to log'?
14. Just been re-reading my bass history t'over the years book....good toilet bumpf. ...if you take a cynical view the bass deluxe (jazz) was an early exercise by Leo's marketing man 'genious par excellence' Don Randall, who thought customers may pay extra for a more racy model...he was right! .... so maybe Leo got right with the P bass in the 1st place, it does the job and that's what counts, the jazz the icing on the cake.
15.
This one is going to run and run and when it's finally on it's last legs we can always rely on someone mentioning either Jaco or The Beatles and hey presto! we'll be off and running again! 16. ....the later set neck one ('81 onwards?), not the earlier '79 both-ons, ....so it's a passive single pup and with the thin 'parallel' neck profile? ....and by thin I mean not the SBR neck and string spacing cheers
17. A Fender P or J (or clone!) is all I need..took me a while to realise though!

I bought a squier classic vibe 60's jazz off a guy recently north of norwich....it came with a set of strings that i adore....the problem is he didnt fit them as they came fitted on the bass when he bought it....off the bass player for a suffolk/norfolk group called 'Atlas and I'...google didnt turn anything up....? 23.
I bought a cheap Behringer USB audio interface I use to plug my bass in to my laptop to play along with tracks, works great as it doesn't need another power source. I use free versions of AmpliTube and Guitar Rig to make it sound a bit nicer. http://www.behringer...cts/UCG102.aspx I also do a lot of practicing unplugged though, sometimes firing the laptop on etc. is just far too much effort
I've never been able to make my UCG work, even after loading the driver's..sits in my spares box unloved now!
24. I do like a busy JT bassline. Heard this on the radio of all things..took a while to track down, I think it was a B side to an early one, great bassline and quite interesting playing over an Am....seems to know his way around a fretboard! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iy0vHaaRh4 http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/d/duran_duran/late_bar_btab.htm another one found on youtube...guy's a tidy player..not me I should add! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FN5OTT1NVI http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/d/duran_duran/last_chance_on_the_stairway_btab.htm any others lurking about?
