1. Extra information added to listing for those whom have kindly text'd, called and PM'd, many thanks for your interest and kind words PS Andy in Wales...I have included Stingray battery information but a temporary lack of time with work commitments precludes actual taking of pictures of said currently fitted power source... It's been a while since Marcus posted this but my offer of help still stands. I've have my own car sales business, 25 years in automotive research and development so what maybe a wallet drama for some could be mitigated by some professional advice? Having to sell your dream bass hurts, I really do understand this 1st hand Marcus. Please post back.
3. That's quite a difference between bass price ranges! The VMJ should and could be all the bass you need for the moment, plenty of players gig them. If you know you are into bass time and can afford the US jazz I'd have that one though in a flash!
4. wow, 4 year old threadoerection! I always thought those were a lovely looking body, they went over to the later rbx shape around '97 I think? Cool looking bass.
5. Great storey, thanks for sharing that. .....Yamaha RBX374, cracking 1st bass sir!
6. Ric's..... they just look so, I don't know, dysfunctional...I really did think the top horn was a carrying handle when i first saw one. Appolgies to Ric owners!
7. I don't know, if he has the same spec' 'n combo, he is a man of taste!
8. Yes, a top tune and this guy does great job.....the bass is 129 quid new aria STB-JB! http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2YcwygMUGjM#
9. Never come across this chord before, wonderful slippery thing has F#alt chord.....? Cheers
10. I thought yamaha OE strings were D'addario? Mine had tag saying as much when i bought my Bb414....although yours is a 425?
11. I've a little rumble 15, its not bad really, surprisingly good slap tone! I also play my phone thru it, very handy.
12. I Like jazzes too but I prefer a fatter neck, I posted about jazzes with p type necks but got nothing back, jazz necks on p's is more common it seems? Bizzarely the only bass I've found is a cheap entry level aria STB-JB, only 150 new, I'm scanning eBay to see what pops up, be cheap way to find if the idea works, and I've nothing against a cheap WELL set up bass!
13. I couldn't find anything a year or so back but there are a few guys playing it on YouTube, may help? Durandassi is the best I found to pick up from...he sings and plays too, talent!
14. I've been trying to noodle along to hot water and found it very hard, its a very busy line, then I saw a video of mark king....and glen dyver, both using their thumb to fret the A and G notes on the E string, it does make it easier, feels strange and my finger muscle memory needs fighting! So is this quite a common technique with regards slap bass?
15. Since I started this topic I wished I'd worded this better with more info understanding I agree chord tones/arppegios are a great way to go walking. On modes what I meant to say but didn't realise was playing the appropriate mode over the appropriate scale degree can help...so if its a c major and the chord is dm, picking notes from the dorian mode frees up more notes to play about with, or maybe highlights more notes would be more correct? It made sense of mode being a useful tool.
16. In my book a classic bass would have been attainable and rightly popular when new, whilst offering something different. ..... I would add yamaha's BB5000 to the list.
17. ...thanks guys, but the um err 1153....I'm guessing that is a 1x15"...so what does the 3 mean?
18.
Some comments on flats for Stingrays - http://www.talkbass....y-flats-586719/ YouTube vid demoing Galli, Chromes and LaBella flats on a Stingray - YouTube vid comparing D'Addario rounds and flats on a Stingray - Status half-wound strings are also worth a try, very similar feel to flats, slightly brighter to start with but play in very nicely.
Wow, that stingray sings, I never thought of flats on my stingray before, food for thought, great post
19. Thanks guys, anyone know off their head what 15" would usually compliment my SM300-7210H combo? I'm sure I can run an extension off this? Cheers again
20. I'm glad its not just me!
21. Everytime I think I understand trace's cab nomenclature I find I don't, can anyone post a 'ladybird' guide? For example: I think these are all single 15" cabs 1518, 1153, 115? Cheers
22. Another vote for a stingray.
23.
We do a medley of Rio and Hungry Like a Wolf. Both great tunes and I'm a big fan of the basslines
Didnt they do that on glee, very catchy mix! .... some old grey whistle test stuff on YouTube, worth watching.
