1. Hmm, yes you may wince at the thought, but this olde does have a great bassline (well it is the song ) and Mr Beggs must have dined out on this riff for many years and for years to come, and I thought, well after a bit of KC and the Sunshine band and Edwin Starr noodling this would make a change for me. He published the original master bass tab in 'bass guitar' magazine some years back, I know he did 'cos I saw a copy of it. ...but this 'master' tab it never seems right to my ears, it's the verse mainly, although not limited to it, just doesn't sound right to my admitedly very tone deaf ear's...I'm sure I have been here before with this tune....I can play it acceptably (to a low standard!) by ear, but if I use the tab well, you know... here ya go, try it for yaself and report back....maybe me? http://tabs.ultimate...y_ver2_btab.htm cheers
2. Weren't older yamaha combo/heads fitted with parametric, B100 series?

4. If you don't need the money, my advice for what it's worth is don't sell it.... .... I have only ever regretted selling a bass, and with something like a Stingray, it's always money in the bank, far cheaper to hang the wall than a painting....and to my mind far more appealing
5. a certain Mr Edwards on these two disco tooones http://youtu.be/d354lcTGvCc http://youtu.be/0DmwR9zuDsQ
6. and strangly the 1st time I heard this track it was played by Froggy at the Central...I can't stop playing bass over this one at the moment. erm, I never quite sure about this 'guy'

8. Brilliant, what's even better is that a few month's ago it wouldn't of struck a chord with me.... Was all Greek back then....
9. Just a simple question , if you know the answer! My Trace GP7 SM300 7210H has an output for an additional speaker at 8 ohms to compliment the 2x 10" and horn. ....can I take this feed to my Peavey 15" black widow which is a 4 ohm speaker.....obviously I'll disconnect the Peavey amp from the BW speaker 1st! as you may know I don't jack about ohms and I keep reading conflicting info'. I'm not too sure if I like the sound of 2x10" having had the lovely deep, warm, creamy sound of 15"'s for so long, my Hartke was a 15" too. This Trace is new to me (had it for a few days now), bloody loud, built like a tank but a little (cliche alert!) hi-fi for my tastes.... unless I have a lot of bass EQ'd up....sounds spectacular with the Stingray though. cheers guys
10. Thanks, I'll give that a go
11. For this money I'd buy it blind, great basses bump!
12. Location? Thanks
13. Good thread:- 1st was an Orange Crush 20 watt bought new, I so wanted to love this little amp, I thought being Orange it would be super cool, well built and sound OK for a practice amp, I was so wrong on every count! After 30 mins playing the speaker would cut in and out, for a while I thought it was my Yamaha RBX-374 batteries going flat, then I had the amp replaced, the replacement still did the exact same thing but after 40 mins, then I was told "they all do that sir".....! Buzzed like a wasp's nest in a biscuit tin after a heavy dose of Rentokil Wasp Killer. 2nd Hartke B900, bought new, really good little amp, bit too clean sounding for me so sold it on after playing a Fender Bassman, but a nice bit of kit none the less...wish I'd kept it to be honest. Ashdown EVO-12-180, bought second-hand, sound old amp, good, rich, cuddly warm sound...currently 'down the site' Peavey TNT-115BW, 1 previous owner from new, still looks unused, does everything I want, amazing build, not a crackle nor a squeak to be heard and it's now getting on for 14 years old I think, simply excellent...currently 'in the office'. Fender Rumble 15 watt beater amp, OK for what it is....better than my Orange Crush (did I say that Orange was crap), sound's really good with my phone going thru it, good feature the DI playalong input....currently 'under my desk'. Trace GP7-SM300-7210H, I let you know.
14. Hmm, tractor....I'd suffer a nice old massey 35.....we luv an ole tractor up ere boy. Anyone know what speakers these come with, celestions?
15. Being as I only really listern to funky guys, zender, mark Adams, Bernard, tubbs etc........I'm amazed at myself by saying macca......it started last week when goodbye tonight and silly love songs was played on beeb 2.....there I said it!
16. Sad news. Alphavillie.....as in big in japan?
17. I bought a Trace combo last night off Fleabay, here she is, decribed as a :- Trace Elliot GP7-SM 300 watt 2x10" Bass Combo serial number is T0451/00424...does make it a GP7 SM 300 7210H? Always wanted a Trace as I'm so shallow I simply like the colours and I'm old enough to remember seeing Mark King with Trace back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and hey they were the 1st bass amp I ever took notice of. This combo was a 'buy it now' and I thought, now that looks like a bit of value, it had only been on Fleabay a few minutes.....for this money I could use it as a shelf for my beer! anyway, what can I expect......pile of tinny overheating rattling crap or sublime bassness, I should add I have very low standards that I fail to live up to but really like my Peavey TNT115 BW! Anyway, I'm guesing it's a.... GP7 (7 band graphic), SM 300 (Sound Management) with watts 300 RMS, with 2 x 10" driver's and the H means it has a horn to boot, ohh and the red stripe means it must be a fast one cheers guys
18. Look in the theory post section, I just posted a very helpful cheat sheet!
19. For me playing a bass and theory is a bit like moving to Spain, sure you can enjoy yaself without learning the lingo, many expats dont speak a word, but learning the language makes things a lot easier and even more fun in every possible way! For example you would be surprised how many really good bass lines are just scales......good times, rasputin, dance to the beat and so on. I'm still learning modes, I actually find it all interesting now I can relate these to songs, bass book for dummies covers it very simply, good book in general. I find the best way of learning theory is in the bath or on the throne....or in bed at the moment laid up with man cold!

21. I found on the bass guitar for dummies site, I wish I had found this a year or so back, may be of help to someone?
22. Looks like trans Orange finish.....sweet. I gotta say I'd like to ask the previous owner why the mod was done, I'm guessing he wanted a warmer tone than a single humbucker could give.....if it had been mine....
23. Pah rich boy with deep pockets.....my westfield p bass was 75 delivered new......spent an hour on set up, most of which was setting the nut height and I kid you not a very nice playable bass indeed. Super low buzz free action, and don't know why but real sweet slap tone, better than my bb414....I find that puzzling.
24. Bb414/5 and active 6 series have to be, for my money, the most underated bass's out there, enjoy.
