1.
Hey, I'm selling a brand new Fender Squier Precision Bass in white with black pickguard. It's a solid, chunky bass that delivers excellent tone. Its got a smooth, straight neck and the build quality is excellent, the thing feels indestructible!! Perfect for rock, indie and punk music, with the classic white/black punk look. The bass is brand new, I recently bought it at PMT Music in Leeds and it has no marks or fret wear and has certainly never been gigged - its never left the house. I bought this bass recently as a back up but i can't get used to the neck (my hands are a little too small !) This bass would be ideal for a either a beginner or a regular player. It would also be a solid back up bass. Cash on Collection is preferred but local delivery might be possible. The bass is advertised elsewhere, but images can be seen through this link. Precision Bass I'm looking for £190 for the guitar and no trades. Any questions, drop me a line. Cheers. Sean. Edit: Secondhand may be a more accurate description. I bought this guitar on 03/07/10 and its never left the house. Like brand new i'd say.
humbuckers?
2. Hi, how new is 'new'..as in when purchased? cheers
3. thanks for the info' guys
4. I eat last nights takeaway so I'm no snob either I have a Squier VMJ, but seems to be sat idle most of the time due to my BB414 love affair....a year ago I loved Jazz bass's, now I'm not so sure... Anyway...so being a Fender virgin I'm assuming the MIM is the same specification components and built to same pattern as a MIA but with lower cost chilli eating labour...or is that being too simple? As an aside...strange thing is a mexican built Jeep XJ is usually a better built Jeep than the US ones ever were! What was it Avis used to say..."we know we are number 2 so we try harder!" thanks for your patience....I'm a Yamaha man!
5. cheers guys... again, forgive my ignorance here, so £429 gets you a Fender from Mexico...with some 'so so' comments, some brilliant and £260 + PP gets you Squier CV P bass which no one seems to berate... whats the general feeling regarding MIM v CV P's...or has this been done to death?
6. Just been sniffing around and find that there are lots of shops selling MIM P bass's for £429 new, with bag...one shop are calling them 2009 'upgrade'...any reason for this? Are they a year to avoid or something? Or Maybe I thought they would be a lot more money? Fender's aren't my monkey so not up to speed on them...but this seems like good value to me for a new MIM? Lake Placid with Maple neck looks peachy...
7. thanks guys
8. thanks
9. thanks for the reply, guys wanting close to £275....sounds about right then cheers guys
10. Sold my Aria for a BB1200 which is no longer arriving.... but that's another another story..... Have seen a Yamaha BB1000 for sale, this is the original split reverse P pup model, not the BB1000S with the J rear.....anyone know anything about them, are they fat Fender necks, or thinner as Yamaha nornally are, I think it's a late '70s one early 80's.... what would a nice one be worth, more a curio' I suppose? I know they are a bolt on as opposed to the thru neck BB1200....that's about it but this BB1000 has my attention at the moment. any thoughts welcome gentlemen...it would be the one on the left
11. Sold John an Aria SB, super quick payment, easy guy to deal with, enjoy the SB! cheers
12. Yes, I know Matt isn't known for his humour but these two gems put a smile on my boat! and this is...well, perfect... maybe it's other peoples suffering.....anyway ........................I'm so happy I'm off to the pub now!
13. sold pending the usual, sorry for any dissapointments gentlemen but had to go with 1st BC'er to contact me as is only proper.
14.
Best places to get big boxes is Halfords. Their adult bikes (Carrera etc) come part built in sturdy boxes. They're too tall to use as they are, but if several inches are cut from the height (and a flap constructed) they are ideal. Any time I've asked for a shipping box from one of the local music shops they've wanted to charge for it, whereas my local Halfords is only to happy to get rid of them.
many thanks
15. wow, this thing attracts attention, just sold a Fiesta to a real nice guy, turns out he sings in 3 bands up here and nearly wet his gusset over the SB....he had a SB-600 years ago but gave up bass to concentrate on singing....he told me never to sell any guitar you own..you will only regret it, so far I always have!
16. just noticed the neck pups are reversed too?
17. Not too sure what the 'form' is here... To those who wish the Aria to be posted, I'm wondering if I should send in a hard case and ask for the case to be returned, I don't mind posting it's just, well you know I have this concern, worry, image of a knuckle dragging disinterested, spotty, hooded young punk stepping on the Aria in the back of a delivery van... PC Statement: I should add not all spotty young punks do this...some aren't spotty at all ....I don't have anything substantial to wrap this bass in, I sometimes have some old cardboard cases from when I bought my new Yamaha's but have none I haven't binned. so what what is the usual form?
18. All PM's replied, I need to get a price for posting!
19.
That looks like my old bass . I sold it to a guy in Watton about 20 yrs ago , and he still owes me £100 of the installments - lesson learnt there I think . Did you find an old Bartolini active boost in the control cavity , wired by some numpty 20yr old I always thought that these were SB700's - the passive version of the SB1000 . I know you say cash only , but are up for a trade of a boxed up Korg G5 plus £100 to you . I'm in Norfolk .
had a look, not active, japanese script on wiring n stuff, thanks for the offer of the Korg but not for me, sorry.
20.
That's a cracking price for a really nice bass. Interesting that its a 1982 model from your part of the world. I used to play guitar in a band in deepest Norfolk in the early 80s, and the bass player bought a bass identical to this from what was then John Savage music in King's Lynn. It must have been around 1982, as I was taking my A levels at the time! Unlikely to be the same one, I guess, but a blast from the past nevertheless!
He must of been a well off student, they were nearly £300 new back then....around £1300+ in todays money using earnings related!
21. 18mm at bridge....so I'm told
22. ohh, forgot to mention I had the pup out and there is still the inspection identification in the pocket...wiring all good too still.
23. Gentlemen, nice bit of nostalgia and a lovely bit of kit in very nice unrestored condition. ....not had this long at all, but as is often the case I have been offered a 1980's BB Yamaha, strangely enough thru a business customer whom bought a Focus from me 4 days after I bought this SB! I can't pass this up old Yamaha as it's a very, very good price, but now have 4 bass's sitting here so it's last in first out... The guy I bought this from has had it 20 years and he purchased it from the original owner, it has a set of Rotosounds on it, that to be honest I don't really like too much, but she plays A1 now it has been set up to my tastes. She has no drama's or unwanted surprises, super low action, no hum, no pot noises and quite a original tone as is the way with old Aria SB's. It now has black Marvel locks but original strap eyes are with it. The 'R' has a slightly wider neck but that is relative for a SB, it has a very racey neck indeed, more like a jazz bass so if you like big necked P basses this may not be for you, ohh isn't at all heavy....but come have a go if you like. It is totally original, not molested in any way and is finished in a lovely Paduak red, with what looks like rosewood fretboard? It doesn't seem to have been used very much over the years, according to the last owner it was used mainly for studio recording, the head hasn't any gigging digs or knocks so sounds plausable, also the frets are in very good used condition (my year old BB414 and VMJ have more wear!) and there are only few small marks on the body, one rear, one bottom...see photos. I paid £280, so asking for money back, no bids please it isn't dear....rather than price it higher and haggle. Any questions, PM me, I'm on Suffolk Norfolk border near Snetterton/Diss/Attleborough.....would rather not post, but willing too if a deal breaker at cost to buyer but will insist on insurance, its not like posting a VMJ that could be replaced tomorrow! I would rather it goes to someone who has a passion for these old SB's, she is a bit special. link to Aria SB site for more info' http://www.prog.rockers.co.uk/aria.htm there is a fair bit on the SB-R60 model.
24. what, no one knows
25. what no A-Ha....bloody 'ell everything I like is 70's 'n '80s...I suddenly feel old...
