1. an active bass is the answer everyone of my basses are active my sandberg has a active passive push/pull knob, get the best of both worlds. i had a passive jazz for all of a week, can't deal with that tone anymore just sounds weak especially for slap and anything with that sparkley top end sound, sure one of the guys on here will point you in the right direction with your current kit tho. maybe back the bass off and boost the mids
 2.
I think if (like me) you can only afford one bass, versatility is a good thing. I really only use one sound from my streamer $$ most of the time as it's my sound and i like it, but it's nice to know that should i want something vaguely fenderish, then it's there. Versatility isn's everything, but it is nice.
I've been fortunate to have alot of basses, but i think i'll get what i've got sold and try some real quality stuff out im quite impulsive and thats been a downfall bought alot of gear on a whim one quality bass should be enough for anyone and the more i look at them the more the warwicks tempting, saying that linus has a beaut of a ray that if i had the cash would be on its way to me decisions decisions
 3. i used a line 6 tone port through my pc into a peavey guitar amp for ages before i got a bass amp best £30 i've spent on gear for sure never tried it through pc speakers tho
 4.
Some very good points here - Basically, to cut a long story short, the Stingray whether H or HH etc, will give you tone in spade-fulls. They're also a full on funk machine capable of the scooped sound or something more aggressive. The unfinished necks are the only real minus, but that's easily fixable with a good luthier and a little money. Pick up a good Corvette/Streamer $$ & you have all that, but with coil switching between series and parallel (also available on the HH Ray). The Warwick will perhaps be a little less soulful, but the sheer power of the things makes up for it in a myriad of ways! You could always buy a bolt-on Status-Graphite S2-Classic in a similar price range to these two. That would bury the pair of them in terms of clarity and definition & will certainly be a very adaptable bass for all situations. I use mine all the time. In fact, anyone wanna buy a piezo Stingray? It never leaves the house, LOL!
that piezo ray' sounds good don't think i could afford it though, probably couldn't do it justice either never heard of status till i started on this forum, if i'm honest i've stuck my sandberg up at a bargain price so hopefully i'll have cash to grab a ray or a warwick will be putting my esp up aswell which is very rare so might have a tasty bit of cash to play with soon fingers crossed

 6. some really good advice has been put out here, in the end i'll have to try both and see what suits best, if the warwick has a jazz like neck then i'll give it a miss. i got a jazz in a trade recently and it was traded the day after i got it, neck was far to thin, but saying that the warwick streamer i had before was great apart from the pickups and from the searching i've done so far, seems a little more reasonable price wise especially secondhand, seen one for £650, i think i'll keep the atk for now and punt my sandberg
 7. hi do you have any pics of the actual bass?
 8. at least the guitarist cares if he is actually in tune i jammed with a band that the guitarist/ singer refused to use the tuner i brought saying that he tuned the guitar before he came to practice, by ear i might add, i said fair enough, we then kicked into a tune and i stopped after 2 bars handed him the tuner which instantly was returned with a smarmey "its your bass and his les paul" what a tit!!
 9.
I've had two $$'s, one stingray HH and one musicman SUB single H, quite simply, i prefer the sound of the warwick, there's not really another way of saying it, either you like it or you don't. It's like a stingray but more aggress, but more versatile if you want it to be. It has more midrange too, i thought. Plus, i preferred the neck profile and the smaller body, more comfortable to me. Two very different basses though, i would advocate trying them both before coming to any conclusion.
going by what you've said i think i'll have a look a $$, as i said i had a streamer before and the pickups were the only let down, a side by side test is the answer just finding the two basses in the same shop will be the problem. if the ray is more one dimesional and i've only one bass the warwick looks better in that respect
 10.
definitely, or at least the $$ is, plays superbly, sounds amazing and very versatile, especially worth it if you buy used, they can easily be had for £150 less than your average used 'ray
i had a little look at your topics and you've had a hh ray which if im honest looks fecking awesome but you have the $$ now, what brought the change? think since you have had both you could give me the pros and cons on the basses if you don't mind thanks ian
 11.
Or a Bongo? (how many threads have I answered with these exact words?)
sure they sound good but ain't a looker thats for sure think i tried to get a bongo you had for sale if i remember right?
 12. i made a list on a post it stuck it to the pc desk specials - gangsters iron maiden - evil that men do ratm - take the power back after playing guitar for years i thought, aim high played along with youtube videos of bass players covering the tunes and slowly picked it up having a visual reference and a mate that plays bass quickend things up bigtime, learned to slap, gallop and get good timing with that little set. good times
 13.
warwick corvette $$, can't go wrong
think i'll try a $$ last time i was looking for a bass in a shop, an old guy who was checking out amps said to me if i could afford the ray i was playing at the time, i'd be better buying a warwick and i did get one a bit later a passive streamer but it was a cheap one, it was nice but are the high end ones really worth the price tag?
 14.
Slimming down to one bass, I'd think about something a bit more varied than a Stingray. I mean, I love mine, but today with my soul band, i was thinking sh*t i wish i'd brought my p bass! Are you not intersted in something with more pickups, eq, coil tapping etc, with more tones availiable? could be handy. just a thought. Or if youre set on a stingray, Id say 3EQ, maybe a HS or HH setup. Bit more vairiance with tone. They are great instruments.
i think a ray would cover most of the sound im after, i've had a few basses jazz, streamer and my esp that im gettin back has a pj pickup setup. but i always end up wanting a ray style bass the shape suits me, think thats why i've ended up with the atk and my sandberg basic they do a great tribute act but until i get a mm i'm gonna be gassing for one.
 15. hi all thought i'd throw this outhere see what i get back I've decided to drastically slim down my instruments i have done this with my guitars just got a strat now, i have been looking at gettin a stingray or a sterling but i've never owned one so looking for advice on which would be the most versatile and good value i really want to get down to just one bass cos' my dad is starting to get annoyed at the amount of gear in the spare room, thought i would be a little less self centred and get to a reasonable amount of gear i've got a handle on the other stuff but i think my basses will be the hardest to cut down thanks in advance
 16.
Can people please stop selling their 'rays? Seriously I'm GASsing like a mofo here and have no dough to back it up. (bump for a beautiful lookin geetar)
i'm on the same boat want a ray badly once my esp arrives it's goin' straight up for sale to fund a ray hopefully this one but i doubt it will be here that long
 17. are you interested in trades at all?

 19. edit bump got to go grab a bargain
 20. sounds to dodgy to risk it tbh i'd leave it well alone, customs can be murder to deal with buying or selling and if they already told you 200 is what they let in i'd leave it at that save yourself the hassle.
 21. just bought a genz benz cab from john. well packed, in great nick. very easy to deal with and willing to a deal top guy to deal with, highly reccomended cheers mate
