A black key off a dead piano would do as a blank, they are ebony and not far off the required size.I can send you one if you fancy the diy route
thats genius i'd love to try that out before paying for them?
-
seems a far bit of effort to make them tbh thanks for the offer tho might take you up on it i've found these things called bass buddy don't need to drill holes held on with some kind of adheisve waiting for an email back bout prices, if i could get a rest without marking up the basses thatd b ideal

anyone know where to get decent thumbrests im gonna stick some on my basses but i can only find plastic ones the wood one on my old jazz is great would love them on my sandberg and ibanez, any recommendations on good ones and where to get them would be appreciated. thanks in advance
-
i've got a weird thing about touching plastic, so i press my thumb against the guitar body for an anchor or on the string above like using a thumb rest though might buy a couple save me taking all the scratchplate off my basses, only bass i use the pickup was my peavey but i put a little tape on the edge of the j pickup dunno what the plastic things about just feels odd
Pretty in pink - Ibanez 2366b, pre-75: Bought this off a BCer (sorry - can't remember your name offhand!) about 4 years ago, gorgeous old thing in fine condition, plays like butter & thumps like a thumpy thing. I don't think the 'trays are original but I'm not complaining! The fretboard has a lovely flame which you can just see a hint of in these pics. 1980 RS924 Roadster: Rubbish pic I'm afraid - I'll have to take some more that do it better justice. Picked this up from ScumTree about 3 years ago, ridiculous bargain at £80, being a total gyppo scumbag I bought it to profiteer (I've seen these Ebayed for £300+) but once I cleaned it up & re-strung it, I couldn't put it down or part with it. This hasn't been out of its case much in the last 30 years, & it's practically spotless - I've gigged it a couple of times but it's a hefty beast & my back doesn't like it for more than half an hour without a lie down! For that reason it's on recording duty - an excellent-sounding bass that seems to be great in any context. Jon.
that roadster is by far one of thebest looking basses i've ever seen and i would love one if you get rid gimme a shout, looks a topper really like ibanez stuff especially the older stuff like this i've got an atk 300 thats not in this things leauge i know but going by how good that is think i'll try and track down one of these roadsters for myself, awesome collection man!!!
whoops, yes I forgot to add...yes totally agree you can really slap those Ernie Ball flatties too, you get a very bright pop from the G string...I just sold my RBX-374 with the EB's onboard...so my BB614 slap monster is gonna get a set of those Group III's too.....
i've been really interested in flats for a while aswell, heard theres nothing compares to the feel on the left hand, but if you can slap on them they sound ideal but im not a fan of ernie ball strings the rounds i had on my 5 felt rough are the flats smoother? any other flats that are good for slapping?

i'm on bc far to much myself, but i can't think of a better way of wasting time it's up there with a few jars with the bhoys, the term you never know how much it means till you lose it comes to mind, im a self confessed guitarist by trade but i come on here and 4 strings are better than 6 , canny beat it, only a fool would think they can scrub it from there daily routine, i've met and dealt with punters of the highest caliber on here buy, sell and talk sh*te it's brilliant it might get repetative for the long term members but i get great satisfaction in being able to help out ,guide and push fellow basschatters to do better and i'm suprised everyday how people i don't know personally can be so helpful and accomidating in the name of entwhistles fingersyle keep it going!!!!!! p.s this as close as i get to social networking as i get, facebook can sook ma bell end if you need an invatation to be a friend
Have you had it to bits? Is there something under the neck joint? Even if it was a 1965 Fender, I think you are going to struggle to worsen the value given the current choco-brown paint job. Get it stripped and paint it pink or something
i've never took it apart, but think i'll take the neck off to see if there is a serial number somewhere. any suggestions on how to strip it?
Crikey, who ever repainted that and repositioned the tuners was a mong.
before you say it im not guilty bought it looking like a melted mars bar
God knows, but the headstock shape looks strangely familiar. I know I would put the tuners back where they should be.
this was the first bass i bought £60 a few years ago dunno who changed the tuners but im not gonna change them back never done work like that would end up more battered than it already is probably break it if itried it

My unintentional Fender Precision Phil Lynott Tribute
hagguy replied to Delberthot's topic in Gear Gallery
I spent some time contemplating whther or not to sell this recently and realise that there is no way I am going to be parting with it so i decided to fit the FretFX LEDs that I've had for the last few weeks. Looks a bit untidy at the front so I may see if i can get some light coloured tape to cover the black The back is quite neat Side shot And the moment you've all been waiting for - LEDs on: Not as neat as Martin Sims would do but then again these cost £50 and came with 5 batteries. They go on and off by simply inserting the battery. If you don't want them on the just pull the battery out and insert it the wrong way so you don't lose it. Mine came set for a 21 fret bass but mine is only 20 so it had an extra LED - I just cut it short so that it didn;t disappear off the end of the neck at the body end
loving the leds was gonnae go for a set myself. what do you think so far, worth the cash? where did you order from? really want these but a bit worried i'd pull the wire off cheers ian -
