  1. Mine from NYE, I was giving the MarkBass a shakedown as I use that as my back up amp to my DB750, the MB has been super reliable but a couple of months back it stopped working mid gig, I finished that gig by DI'ing from my Darkglass Alpha Omega straight to the PA (it sounded pretty good tbh), hence the Trace Elliott on standby. I'd had the MB amp checked by a tech who could find nothing wrong, so that got me to thinking that maybe the power strip on the back of the rack case was faulty, swapped that out for a new one and thankfully problem solved.
  2. We picked up a gig last minute as the pub had been let down by another band due to sickness, a bit of a slow start but eventually the punters were suitably lubricated enough to take to the dance floor, so all turned out well in the end. The pub rebooked us, we had an enquiry about a private party also and we were fed and watered, so all was good, although not quite The Maldives….I think mrtcat won the Internet with that gig😊🤘👍🏻
  3. As you mention, it’s all very subjective, it never ceases to amaze how one combination of amp and cab can be loved and hated in equal measure, depending on what the users ears tell them. For many years I used a Trace AH300SMX and 2 Peavey 4x10Tx’s and loved the sound you could dial from a Fender Jazz, I reproduced that fairly recently, as a friend has my old rig, I plugged in the same Jazz and just couldn’t settle with it (my back would’ve been thankful)🤷‍♂️
  4. The DB750 is definitely, and shall remain number one - you're right it is heavy but just sounds immense, I've got a Trace RAH600SMX that I'm thinking of moving on, it's been a back up to my back up🤣 for a while now, incidentally the back up is a MarkBass F1 with a Sansamp GED2112 used for tone shaping - the back up sounds great and there's nothing wrong it. It's weird, I've been completely GAS free in respect of amps until I joined the rock band, the DB has that covered completely, but somehow the GAS has returned? Maybe I'll try the Tonehammer, but sometimes it's nice to have a bit of a change. My head says stop gassing but that's easier said than done🤣
  5. I have to admit that Fusion was posted up last night and I was semi interested, The EBS I’ve heard lots of positives about as well and that had caught my eye also - there’s a couple of EBS amps at The Bass Gallery that I’d looked at but again, I’ve never tried one and don’t know anyone locally that’s used one either. I may have to do a bit of research and try a few I think😊
  6. Thanks again for the reply, I do appreciate the input🙂 Think I might take a trip to Bass Direct and try the Mesa - I've always wanted something Boogie and think this might do me well🙂👍
  7. Thanks for the reply🙂 I'm playing in a Jukebox band (party type band/popular covers) and also have recently joined a classic rock covers band (AC/DC, Whitesnake, Black Sabbath etc) and was thinking of possibly getting my hands on an Ampeg of some sort (there's one at The Bass Gallery and Bass Direct also have an SVT) although then I got to thinking that may be a bit much as a back up? Bass Direct have also just got a used Mesa into stock, I've never tried anything Mesa but was thinking that may be more suitable? Hmm, what to do.....
  8. Hi All, I'm considering buying one of these as a back up to my DB750 (for use at rehearsals/smaller gigs), anyone had any experience of them? Good or bad? I'd be keen to hear your thoughts 🙂
  9. An absolute bargain and a very noble gesture, well done that man 🙂
  10. I’ve tried a couple of times too but seem to call when the relevant person is either really busy or unavailable, I’ve heard it's a good venue and always nice to try and find different places to play 👍🏻😊
  11. We played at Brown Street in Salisbury last night, I really like this venue - it’s nice to see a venue invest when so many seem to be closing, particularly the case in Salisbury. We rolled out 5 new songs and all seemed well received by the crowd - I rarely used to gig Fridays as found it was always a bit of a rush, but now feel it a good way to kick off the weekend 😊
  12. Thanks for the recommendation, had a chat last night, dropped off the amp today, seems like a lovely guy and had a good chat about all sorts of bass related stuff, fingers crossed he can sort it out🙂👍
  13. Let me mull that over - thanks for the speedy response 🙂
  14. Purely out of curiosity how much do you want for both cabs? I'm near Marlborough...
  15. We had a gig in Portsmouth last night, bit of a schlep in pouring rain, but thankfully the rain had stopped in time for load in, we played a working men’s club and during soundcheck their was a table of oldies sat with fingers in ears complaining that we were too loud. By the second song the oldies that were complaining were in full flow, singing and dancing and it carried on that way all night😁 i was using my Trace Elliot RAH600 back up amp as my DB750 started banging and popping during rehearsal last Tuesday, heard something rattling in the case so thought I’d take the lid off and found a loose capacitor!? Guess I need to find an amp shop around Wiltshire or Bristol….☹️
  16. We played at The Huntsman Tavern in Salisbury last night, arrived to a fairly quiet bar watching the ladies football and then the darts… Once we’d set up and sound checked what a difference, the pub started to fill up with a lot of friendly faces that (I’m told) follow the band from pub to pub - apparently they were out to see the new bass player….🤣 Lots of singing and dancing from the off had me settled in in no time, it’s my 4th gig with the band and things are nice and tight now, so I’m finding I’m starting to relax and enjoy gigging with them, we did an off the cuff rendition of Radar Love which seemed to go down well. All told a great night and lots of positive feedback ref the new boy - long may it continue 😊
  17. Thanks for thinking of me - I already have one of these and love it, but since joining a classic rock covers band, and then wanting me to learn NIB, I was fairly keen to try a Geezer. Anyone tried one? Not wanting to hijack this thread though😊
  18. Hmmm, I get like that just having a weekend off, that itch just needs scratching! Hence I’ve joined a second band and am hoping that 2023 will be busy, already have 28 gigs confirmed😊👍🏻
  19. We are a fickle bunch aren't we? 🙂 I have a dislike of Blue basses🙄
  20. It was a proper luxury having that much room to play in, often some of the pub gigs we do my backside is literally touching my cab and I don’t get to here very much, do tend to feel it though🙃🤓
  21. I love it, as I get older though it is becoming a struggle to manhandle it, I also use a Tech 21 Leeds pedal on some Who tracks we cover - that really sounds epic to my ears, and you know it’s sounding good when the rhythm guitarist turns and looks with an approving nod👍🏻
  22. I’m using a Barefaced Big Twin 2 and Aguilar DB750 - the PA perched on top also if that’s what you’ve spotted😊
  23. I think this is a first for me, I somehow seemed to have missed this thread? We were out celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Waltham Chase Trials Motorcycle Club - a gig I landed by chance whilst talking to someone at a corporate do in Bournemouth. A great night had by all, bonus was they fed and watered us as well😊
