Replacement Toroidal Transformer EVOii 500
Chimike replied to oldslapper's topic in Repairs and Technical
It may be worth contacting Demeter Windings , in Chelmsford. Very reasonable, I've had very good service from them in the past to repair my Trace Elliot valve amp. -
Just bought 2 polytune clip tuners from Tony.sent very quickly, beautifully packed, and in brilliant condition, new batteries, even ! When Farcelpass got their nickers in a twist, he was on the case immediately, making absolutely sure that I got th package. Magic ! Thanks Tony .

Hi Chris, you've got a great amp there ! are you anywhere near Worthing ? I have a Hexavalve ( and a few other TE valve amps ). Happy to check your valves on my Orange valve tester, and I'll dig out my copy of the T/E service bulletin regarding the fan issue, however, simple solution in a hot environment is to raise the case lid, to let the air flow around the valves more freely. Best Wishes Mike.

Anything from the effects out, or headphone socket ?

Micky Feat, his playing with Van Morrison was simply beautiful !

Great option would be an old diesel ( Mesa ) cab, as long as it still has it's original ( very efficient ) electrovoice speaker .

I have a silver glitter Charger , used it last month on an outdoor acoustic gig, Magic ! would love to find a red, or blue, tuck'n roll head box mike.

There is, or was, a very detailed drawing of the Ampeg Heritage B15 cab, put up by the guy who built the repro cabs. Try google . If no luck, PM me, and I'll hunt out my copy. mike.

Don't think there's a proper filter in there, maybe a coupla caps, back to back. either way, not difficult to lower the filter pass frequency, they are nice-ish 5" speakers, so could be quite effective, with a little effort. Mmmmmm.... I've an 18"" trace cab, I could try that with !
-
But which of you actually have one ? You Gotta try one ,to find out , he he . mines for sale !

Just finished building my Vong, simply great instructions, makes for an easy assembly of what is quite a fully featured little pedal. only tried through headphones, so far, but certainly silent in use.

Trace Elliot SMX amp head - Shredded Allen bolt heads!
Chimike replied to Davy's topic in Repairs and Technical
Which model trace Elliot is this. On most trace amps, these would not be the chassis retaining screws . However, if they are , preferred method is to drill the heads off with a very sharp, good quality, stubby drill bit, using a slow speed, bit of oil might help. Drill size bit larger than bolt shank , but fair bit smaller than head diameter. Head will come off when you reach the shank. After disassembly, usually possible to remove remaining bolt stub with mole grips. take care when starting, as drill will tend to snatch when you first start ! Don't use a long, cheap, drill, as will snap, for this reason. Good Luck mike. -

Trying to talk Bumnote into coming to this with me. Interested in the 12 cab shootout. As long as he doesn't want to come in his go kart, will try and bring something old ! mike. -
Yep, bad back , so, been doing this for awhile. Started with a B&O module, then experimented with ( the fabulous ) Hypex parts, and now I've bought a 1000w Sumo power amp. preamps I've used range from the front end of SVT's, for which I've had to build power supplies, and pre's from Trace Elliot, Ashdown, Alembic, Ashly, SWR, etc. be aware, it's not just plug and play ! The different combinations don't all match. Some pre's don't drive the modules to full output, and in some cases I've had to use a Sansamp , or micro amp, to get enough signal. However, it's great fun, and as I can't lift my SVT's anymore, love walking in with ( what looks like ) my SVT in one hand ! be warned, you won't save money doing it the way I have ! mike.

You seem to have the hard work behind you, everything you do now will make it better, and better ! I have several, one with a Guass speaker like yours in it, great sound.

No Slacking now, we need to see this finished. Great cabs, BTW,

Important to realise that the talk bass link was referring to a solid state amp, not valve , so does not apply in this case . Could try Yampeg service dept, they've been very helpful in the past.
