Turning a valve preamp circuit into a standalone preamp?

I also love, and play, vintage gear, but due to re- occurring back problems, I have tried to shed some weight. I've found some pics of my earlier attempts. Cases ,( yet to be covered ) are poplar ply, replacing manufacturers boxes made of lead. Pre-amps ( SVT,s ) are Ebay purchases, with added power supplies, built by myself. Power amp to taste, depending on gig, but I've often used a B&O 500 watt module, bought from Bigwan, or Hypex modules. I've also cloned some speaker cabs in poplar ply, but often the easy way to lose weight is to go for neo's. Certainly work in my Ampeg and Mesa 2 x15's. I'll try to list recent, more finished photo's, when I can work out how to get them off my phone . -

Joking aside, just in case Mark King finds this thread, all credit to the guy. He played , and sang, some great songs. I can't even sneeze , and play at the same time,. BTW original Mark King combo had celestion speakers, they weren't using the blue speakers 'till later.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that the original Mark King combo was an 8x10 combo, with a 400 watt Klystron ( early ABM ) amp.. That was the version Mark King used when he was playing a Bernie Goodfellow bass His roadie did all the lugging, when I saw him playin it. Sound was s..., but that might have been the acoustics of Portsmouth guildhall .

Need to concentrate on my full scale fretless, so I'm putting my Kala u-bass up for sale. I've gigged it a couple of times, and the rest if the time, it's just been used at home. If you haven't tried one of these yet, then you should, they create an enormous sound when amplified. it comes with the semi hard case, which protects the instrument really well. Would prefer collection from South Coast ( Chichester, Worthing, even Southampton Brighton, occasionally ) thanks mike.

Just had a brilliant and easy transaction with Matt, for his Taylor mini bass. Matt was very helpful in making collection possible, despite his busy travel plans ! Thanks Matt !

Well, there's a pattern developing here ! I can only concur with the feedback left in previous posts. i have just bought the P bass of my dreams from Si ! I was drawn in by his honestly worded advert, and when I arrived to view the bass, it was even better than described. He answered my questions clearly, made a cuppa while I noodled, but I knew within 10 seconds that the bass was for me ! Si knows his basses , and certainly makes the transaction a pleasant one . Thanks Si .

ACOUSTIC CONTROL CORPORATION MODEL 126 COMBO-QUESTIONS
Chimike replied to rocker19's topic in Amps and Cabs
Hi Jan, beautiful example, congratulations. often the problem with these amps is the eq inductors failing. While there are workarounds, , your combo is so pristine, better to leave it as it is,, if you are happy with the sound, 'till you can find an original replacement inductor. oh, and Hi Frank, 408, not often you see those, now ! Love mine . 370's , brilliant, my main gigging amp, at the mo' best Wishes mike.- 20 replies
