1. It looks like they are an updated/repackaged Korg AX1 series, but if they do contain the same sounds as the tonelab series then they should be better than the AX1s.
2. Not if you MUST have the effect now. If it's being bought as 'something interesting' then yes, it's probably worth waiting a month +.
3. Just re-read my post - I must have been tired last night!
4. I've had a few, and they've ranged from excellent (tremolo pedal is a permanent fixture on my board) through fine (EQ, Compressor - for sale ) to just plain bad (acoustic modeller, DC9 compressor).
5. Dood - about 11 days in my case. Ordered on a Sunday afternoon and the post office had tried to delivery a week on Wednesday. I suspect they pool ordered and do a mass shipment once or twice a week.
6. Your first link doesn't work and there are no pix. Should be nice guitars, especially if you can get on with that boat neck.
7. WTFacessories.com also have a discount code that works, and they have some (not all) of the newer pedals.
8. From the chorus I wanted something that would widen the sound and add sparkle, just like my Rocktron Deep Blue does, but in a smaller, more pedal-board friendly size. The Mooer chorus does a different version of chorus (much more like a Boss) with a narrower, more focused tone and a different kind of modulation (I might try to do a demo if I have them for a few more days). It will do the 'Time after time' sound of the Prymeaxe video very well, but not the wider, more open sound I wanted. The Shimverb is OK, and I'd be happy to use it, but it doesn't do something that I want I can't do already (my PB&J will do a decent 'sort of' room reverb on a short repeat at low level) and I'd like to try a couple more. The shimmer aspect isn't great, and I'd be inclined to ignore it, also like the chorus, it focuses the sound down a bit and I often play as the sole instrument, so more rather than less sonic width is useful. I've got a music practice tomorrow night, and might take them along to see how well they work in a band context. There's nothing wrong with them, but just don't fit for me.
9. You're welcome. Mine are up in the for sale thread now - a couple of quid more than if ordered direct, but you know they will arrive within a day or 2.
10. Mooer Ensemble King chorus and Shimverb reverb pedals: Both as new, in box with all packaging etc. £35 each or £65 the pair posted. Trade for Elec Lady, Trelicopter, Ana Echo, Blue Chorus, Hustledrive or Ultradrive. Trade both for a mint MXR Carbon Copy. Now sold. Various bargain pedals. Cactus Crunch is a versatile clean/dirty boost pedal, handmade in the US, mint condition. I just don't use this one - £40 shipped. Bad Monkey - well known overdrive pedal, a bit chipped from travelling in the gig bag. £22 shipped Behringer compressor sustainer, 1 small scratch in side, in packaging etc £14 shipped GLX bass lmiter - Boss clone, does just what it says but now surplus to requirements since buying a Zoom B2.1 £19 shipped.
11. Mine arrived Wednesday, and I've given them a decent go now. I'm sorry to say there isn't even a honeymoon period, and I think they will both be up for grabs in the for sale section shortly. Neither are bad, but neither will make the tones that I would like, though I could use both if I needed to; it's just that I prefer the pedals I have already more than I want the extra space on the board. My favourite chorus is a Rocktron Deep Blue, and I was looking for that kind of tonally expanded sound, where as the Ensemble King makes the tone more focussed, lacking the depth and transparency I want. The Shimverb is OK, but again, doesn't quite hit the spot for me. I tried a couple of different guitars and a couple of amps (1 valve, 1 SS). Nothing wrong with these - just not my cup of tea. I'll probably try a couple more (the Eleclady and maybe a compressor, phaser,r the hustledrive or Green Mile).
12. The back of a BB is (usually, though not always - anyone remember Hiscox?) a curved resin bowl, rather than the classic tea-chest style. Advantages are that the guitar is lighter and often projects better than the box type, but tends to be a bit middly-nasal. The originals were made by Ovation, and they had a very characteristic sound.
13. Avoid the cheap ny,lon guitars unless you're a masochist with a tin ear - they sound horrible and don't stay in tune (IMO). Actually that's true of most acoustic guitars, but you already knew that, right? If you're over near J10 of the M40 then I have a bowlback acoustic you can have for £20 - plays OK, and I've used it playing out. These aren't bad: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Electric-Acoustic-Guitar-/190746079003 This looks OK http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Encore-EN165EA-electro-semi-electric-Acoustic-Guitar-w-cutaway-ex-display-demo-/360501139738 As does this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Electro-Acoustic-/110969487268
14. They made acoustic guitar useful for rock bands, although a few people picked up on the alternative looks along the way. They are still excellent stage instruments provided the bowl is shaped right (early ovations were terrible at rolling away) I have a Melody bowlback that I bought for £25 on ebay, and it sounds ever so similar to an early 80s Ovation.
15. When you say rust, do you mean a greenish corrosion/verdigris? It *sounds* like it's been in storage for some time and needs restringing. I'd be inclined to try that first before sending it back, unless you've done so already. Also polish the frets (all of them) wityh a soft cloth and if you have some, oil the fingerboard too.
16. Pete's right, though you may find the formulation is different, both tonally and in terms of stiffness. FWIW I've used a full electric set on acoustic, and TBH it sounds no worse than 'official' acoustic strings and significantly better than some acoustic sets (Takamine did some terrible strings a few years back).
17.
how about the worst guitar solo ever? kicks in about 1.20
About par for the course for some 'progressive' bands of the time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMzoqpyUbhg I can tell you've never heard a Beastie Boys song.
18. This is the present board - guitar rather than bass, but some effects are dual purpose. It will change when the mooer effects arrive (the PB&J will go) and I recable it. Current order J&H>Cool Cat fuzz>PB&J>Tremelo>volume pedal>Carbon Copy>pitchblack. Running like this lets me do synthy volume swells with the pedal (I actually had a keyboard player check the patch he was using because he thought the sound came from him!). 19. Really glad this is working otu well for everyone. Credit goes to Renula on Harmony Central effects forum.
20. Very good. I like Korg processors.
21. I note that the Reecho that was out of stock has reappeared for $99 instead of $88 as they were before (they actually started off at $44 back in August before I found out about them).
22. I'm trying hard not to order a couple more (the Elec lady and Trelicopter have a VERY strong appeal).
23. Maybe you should try the for sale section?
24. Much always wants mooer. I keep thinking about how I'd like to redo most of the pedal board with those. A set of 6 or 7 would allow me to replace everything else I have on the board and add a wah alongside the volume pedal. Slightly wishing I'd gone for the electric mistress clone instead of the shimverb, although I didn't have a reverb, and also fancy the Hustledrive/OCD pedal.
