Managed to get hold of a cracker of a Sub bass. Picked it up in Edinburgh from a really nice chap,Jose, who had sellers remorse right away! I really felt sorry for him as I have had that 3 times before when selling my Sub bass guitars. I originally had a white one about 7 years ago. Sold it when skint! Bought another in grey, sold it to fund another guitar and finally got hold of another gre 10000000_2416171728701068_1584912735974150124_n.mp4 y one last year, which I sold to fund a very needed holiday! Anyway, this one is a keeper! (I hope!) Here is a recent video of me playing it in Glasgow. Get the earphones on for this!!

Do you actually gig with this?

Cheap option, works for me at the moment, Adagio Flatwounds 45 -100, E bay price £14.99. Nice bright sound,no issues so far. Fitted to my Spector NS-2000/4 and Yamaha BB1100s. Using in classic punk rock covers band and rock covers band.

This guy should have his own show on channel 5.

Finding this a lot! Playing with a classic punk covers band at the moment. We are very good if I say so myself, wherever we play,we go down a storm, even with folk who think they don't like punk. I say punk,it's the lighter stuff,Undertones,Blondie,Ramones..pop really! Anyway, being semi retired,I have more time than most of the band to phone pubs,or facebook folk for gigs.I have manged to get a handful of decent pubs to take us on,but more or less the same after every gig,the original booker is no where to be seen, you phone during the week, they are not in,you get them on facebook, they promise to check their book, after another couple of goes, they say they are full to the end of the year, phone back in 3 months,or if they do offer something,it clashes with other gigs we have! I chased a certain gig up last year for weeks, managed to get hold of the person who claimed to book the bands,on facebook, they suggested I drop by t some point,I did and they seemed to forget who I was.I suspect the person on facebook was not actually who booked the bands...anyway,landed a date that suited the rest of the band, thats another story, getting folk to use the online calender, the gig is in 3 months....We do the gig in Feb of this year,go down a storm, the person who booked us,the owner of the pub is not in that night and I have to start over again with the phone calls and facebook messages, finaly get offered a gig, which we can't do,cause we are already playing, get offered one for this December, which we take. I know what will happen,as the whole thing will go on,with us being told, thats us booked up for the year, give us a phone next July.......flip!!!!

Looks like someone will be paying over the odds for an old Encore p bass....

His mum did look a bit odd as well.....I never hung around!

I expected some damage, maybe a scratch or even cracked. For the price,I thought it would do a turn, just for bashing about the house. The guy put one picture up,which was out of focus. When I got the guitar, his mum was cooking something horrid in the kitchen and I didn't hang about. I think it might have been his dad....

So it's nearly bed time and I am browsing Gumtree,as you do. I spot a bargain bass, about 20 minutes from my house. Its a short scale Squier Jaguar,in black, Quick as a shot I phone the lad who is selling and arrange to pick up the bass straight away! There was one picture up and some sort of tape, the electrical type black tape over the headstock, but hey, maybe that's what ''the kids'' do to their guitars these days. I think, well it may be something for messing around the house with or even a cheap backup bass to keep in the car.As you can see,the lad had decided to do some mods on it.....What the actual f**k!!!!!

Bought the one on the right, off here! The one on the left came to me as a part ex yesterday,It came from here,I believe originally. Seems to have passed trough a few owners since then. It's a Basslines Musicman type pickup. I think the p bass one is as well,I know it's not the original. Both play and sound great! Didn't know until the bloke arrived at my door what colour it would be,I forgot to ask. Will put it through it's paces at next practise and see what's what!

You can never have too many. Meet the twins.

Has anyone noticed it's all going a bit slow these days? Loads of stuff on E bay,not much selling. Gone are the £10 starting prices right enough, everyone coming on with buy now,or best offers. Not much in the way of bargains. In saying that,I tried in vain to sell my Tokai Hardpuncher bass recently. Bought it for £400 about 5 years ago,not interest at £450 I was asking. Dropped to £399,but nothing so far. I guess that's what they call a keeper now...

Ditto....The nearest I get is to play in Emergency Exit, doing classic punk covers by the likes of Blondie,Ramones,Sex Pistols,Rezillos, etc Oh to be 17 again!

Seen another bass, can't mind what it was. The matt finished looked as if it marked very easily, fingerprints, etc and the chips show up a lot.
