Yes.....and no! I won't be changing it as folk have read and commented on it and this is the end of the thread anyway! And it was a rhetorical title as I am sure you know this is a safe place to buy and sell!

Looks like it was a bank error after all! Got a phone call from our bank,Virgin after several weeks of phone calls and messages and making an official complaint we were told that the money that I sent to the person on this forum that I was buying a bass neck from had indeed went to someone else about 15 seconds after my wife pressed the pay button on the app! It,according to the bank went to someone I had sent money to...5 years ago with the reference ''bass''...The same reference we used for my latest purchase! As someone on this thread had pointed out it was some sort of computer glitch! That said the bank are still saying that it was something we had done wrong sending the money! Which with the app is not possible. I mean when the payee gave me his account details both my self and my wife checked and entered the details and according to what I read online, the bank app checks the details are correct ie proper spelling, correct account details then we press send and the transfer is away! Only after sending at around 10.30am it was marked pending all day and we checked with the seller only to check at around 4.30pm and find it had gone to someone else...someone I had bought something from 5 years ago! We have been told because we had pushed so hard to get to the bottom of this that they believe us and will refund our money whilst trying to get it back from where it ended up! So.....sort of result but as I suspected all along, the bank was at fault and won't admit it also customer service was shocking all the way through!

Beatles 'new' Single, Now and Then, thoughts?

It's pretty average...Not a good final song and I believe George Harrison said it was rubbish! Despite the tech used to put this together it does sound like it's been put together out of bits and bobs! Fans will love it but..... -
What a racket....it's total guff!!!

Still waiting on refund from the bank. They are dealing with it and have asked the bank that the money seems to have landed at for the cash back! Seems we have to wait 15 days for this to happen. Wife spoke to them last week and they can't tell us any more info at this stage. I know we won't get told why our money went to a different bank to the original one at the start of the transaction! By rights it should be sorted out any day soon. Will let you know the outcome!

Yes Dave that's them! When I joined them I told them about the Graeme Hotel and the singer wasn't interested. I explained that Emergency Exit had some decent nights before lockdown and I could speak up for us and get us in. I met him recently and he said that they got a booking and were looking forward to it! Hopefully they have a good night. They do have a following so should have a crowd but volume is going to be an issue that's a given!

Played there with Emergency Exit before lockdown and it was pretty mixed. Great feedback from local punk fans who turned out and punters in the room seemed to enjoy it! I was back in last December and it was as you described...punters in for the football and some stayed. Some others in for a meal and really did not want any music! In fact they got a bit whizzed off when we asked them to move away from the pa! Also folk dropping in for one drink on a pub crawl. I think although it has been one of the music venues in Falkirk from the old day's that still put music on it's trying to be a sports bar, restaurant and music venue and it isn't really working! The volume is an issue because of the layout. We were contacted about getting booked this year but I was a bit late in getting back to them and got hee haw! I think that was maybe for the best! One of my mates bands are playing there very shortly and I know for a fact that they will blow the roof off volume wise!!!

My current band play classic rock. We try and do things a wee bit different ie no Free,AC/DC,Bad Company....nothing wrong with those bands we just don't do them. Plenty of others do. I got the band a booking in a nearby town and the venue seemed to have bands doing the Mod/Ska thing. I explained we do ELO,McCartney,ManfredManns Earth Band,Supertramp ,Genesis as well as the usual Killers,Kings Of Leon,Bon Jovi,Fleetwood Mac etc. Good tight band with keyboards and harmonies. We did 2 gigs and went down well. In fact the booker was there on a night off and loved it! A couple more bookings got added and about a fortnight before we were due back I received a message to say that he had lost a diary and then found it again and discovered that he had double booked us! These things happen but I should have asked him to look at the flyer on the wall with all the events over the next 3 months marked clearly...and we were on it! Anyway the usual guff was given....I will sort you out with another booking! When I asked? Errm...Will have to check my diary..I will be in touch! Anyway months pass and the same thing happens! With a similar story. This time I e mail him back and thanked him kindly for booking us in his pub. We really enjoyed it but please don't book us again!! The bands they he did put on did...mod and ska! Ok I get that but why book us in the first place then blow us out twice when another band comes along!!

Yes it's that punk tag that puts folk off. In all fairness the music was the chart hits of punk and it all sounded like great pop music anyway!

The trouble with this bar is trying to track the owners down to be rebooked! When I was with Emergency Exit it was the very same! When I got the original booking it was a nightmare! I phoned several times and finally had to go to the venue and speak with the owner who told me her husband delt with the bands and she had no interest! Anyway we got booked 2 or 3 times then Covid came! The band I am in now did the gig last summer just before I joined! As usual on the night the owner praised them and said phone me during the week I don't have my diary. They could not get hold of him and gave up! I came onboard and tried on Facebook and phone to contact them. Managed to get the barmaid to give me both the owners mobile numbers...which just rung out! I gave up. Recently messaged them on Facebook and was told that the book wasn't open for next year and they will be in touch! Not heard anything yet! They still have live bands. As for the money...If you ask £300 and get it that's fine. If someone else comes in and say's £250....guess what!! A solo performer will get between £150 and £200 for a night so now that things are very tight that's a saving for the pub and in some pubs that's what they want! I play more or less every week. The band has 50 gigs this year but we have had to chase every single one and every follow up gig. One of the venues we play we go down great. Just got rebooked for next year and given 3 bookings same money as this year. Solo guitar player is in as well and has 4 booking to do...before the end of this year! Yes it's a bummer and it's not always good enough just to be a great band, good price and floor filler! Did a cracking gig in Stirling with Emergency Exit punk covers!. Won't mention the pub (Think Sherlock Holmes lol)Before lockdown. The place was packed and everyone enjoyed it! Local folk, tourists and the usual punk fans! We contacted the pub during the week to get another booking or bookings only to be fobbed off. I managed to speak to the manager only to be told that the person that booked us did not work there anymore. No one seemed to know who we were and what we did. Also she had never seen us so would we send some clips of the band.....I gave up!

Just to be clear this is still ongoing and as far as it looks it's some sort of glitch in the banking system as they say that there is nothing to suggest we have been scammed. The seller is on here and I am sure if he had seen this thread and wanted to comment he would have. But at the end of the day he has done nothing wrong. Some of the info we have received from the bank has been pretty confusing but today my wife spoke with someone who told us not to worry it will be resolved. They have to try and recover the money from the bank that it has ended up in. And I suppose the person has no idea why he is £95 up! You hear of folk getting thousands in their bank...and they start spending it!.....Or was that some film I seen! Anyway thanks to everyone who has commented and I will let you know when we get the money! And let's never mention this again!....Scam or safe to buy?...That depends lol.
-
A couple of points...its still ongoing we don't have the money back and the bank know which account it has gone to as they are trying to get it back from said account. It's all documented on their system though the choose not to tell us how it happened as you can imagine. The banks have a system in place to refund the cash if everything stacks up...and even if they don't get the money from the account that it goes to! I think I mentioned erlier in the thread about losing over £200 at one point to some sort of scam...it just came out our account and purchased goods from Argos at the other end of the country! Who knows how that happened! We got our money back through the bank in about 4 or 5 days..
-
Agreed but for whatever reason some folk don't use it...
-
We bank with Virgin. The payment was sent to a Santander account and ended up in a Nationwide Building Society account!!
-
We contacted the bank again after getting a bit of an odd e mail in which the bank said that nobody was subjected to a scam and went on to say that we were in dispute with the seller!! So we can't take your claim further so we are raising a payment recall...which means they will contact the receiving bank and ask for the cash back. That as we know points to a bank error! As mentioned by some folk. The lady said not to be worried about it but contact them again next week if we don't hear anything. She also said she had never seen anything like this before!!.....
-
Another thing and nobody has pointed it out...why did it take about 5 or 6 hours to show as payment sent or complete? I have received money from folk straight away in a bank transfer. Speaking to my wife who usually does the banking it say's on the bank app that transfers can take up to 5 hours. Is this normal?
-
I was with her. I read out the private message from here with details. She has telephone banking on her phone although it is a joint account. We both checked the details and as folk have pointed out the bank automatic check sends the cash if all details are correct. Also we both checked during the day as I was in contact with the seller re the money coming through. He had parceled it up and was waiting for funds so he could nip out and post it to us. At 4.30pm I got a private message from him saying still no money in his bank....that's when we checked the app and found it had been marked as received...only it was a totally different person and bank details!
-
I wouldn't say they don't have to believe as all the process including original details and account it ended up will be on record and we confirmed all this with them. They asked us if we knew the person that the money ended up going to.....But yes if it is indeed a fault in their system as some folk have said or a fraud we won't ever know. And when we do get the money back that's the end of it!
-
Yes!
-
Neither do we...and we are not saying that or thinking that at all. Its as I described and as some folk have pointed out. Its a scam of sorts with the money being diverted at some point to a totally different account whilst starting out with us and indeed the bank with the proper and correct details. And again as for the message from the bank saying it's an APP......It's doesn't by definition actually seem to be that as we set out at the start with the proper bank details going to a trusted seller. We have screenshots if needed of all conversations as it was done through this site and I agree it's a bank issue and we won't ever know what happened that's for sure. I put this up here to find out if it had happened to anyone on here selling and it seems by and large it has not!
-
Yes..everything as above. At the end of the transfer which took about 6 hours it was marked as received to a totally different person, and both the sort code and account number was totally different. We had checked at least two times during the process and it was showing on the banking app the original name and details of seller and marked pending. We went out late afternoon and I received message from seller to say he had received nothing so we checked the app and that is what we found. I agree with what folk are saying re APP. But as mentioned we have been told in e mail from bank that they calling it an APP. We are still waiting on payment .They say they are looking in to our fraud case and will update us within 15 days.

Its lucky we did check. This was the Thursday night and we were off to Spain later on the Friday night. It could have been a nightmare trying to report it and then having the card stopped.
