  1. It has been asked before...and no one answered! Has anyone bought a bass guitar neck from Niche Guitars Blackpool? A few years ago a near neighbour of mine let me try out a guitar he had built himself. He had made the body but used a pre made neck which was very nice! He wasn't giving out where he got the neck but it didn't take too long to find out lol. This was maybe 3 or 4 years ago. I looked in and seen the neck he had bought plus other p and j type necks for not a lot of cash! I am now about to put a bass together using parts and as a starting point I had a look again at the necks from Niche....
  2. Great set and he has some songs! Check them out! Oh and the bass player has a nice custom Warmouth bass!
  3. What are folks take on paying by pay pal these days? Have done it in the past for low amount and everything was ok. I do a fair bit of face to face selling on facebook market place and it's usually cash when I turn up at someones house or when they buy from me. I nearly bought a bass on here last week but when contacting the seller he would not do pay pal but wanted bank transfer straight away and was sorting the bass out at the weekend about 4 days later. We spoke on here and that should have been enough but because of the recent scamming on here I decided not to pay and dropped out of the deal! On reflection I should have phoned the seller which I usually do and just transfered the money but took cold feet.
  4. After lockdown I joined a new band. Rock/pop covers. Was told before I got the gig that it may be loud and I should make sure i had a big enough amp!! (singers...what are they like!) Great band and do well on the circuit plus the guys are brand new....but at gigs..mega loud...at practise..mega loud! No amount of talking about it or moaning about it made any difference! The mixer was a sea of red lights!! I spoke to the guitarist in private about it and he went off on one saying that he had two expensive Les Pauls and a Marshall stack so he could be heard! I tried playing louder than the band which I could manage but that made it worse and my ears almost bleed! After a while though they seen sense and let me go as it''wasn't working out'' I believe it never ''Worked out'' with the last bass player either! Still friends with the guys as life is too short.......speak up!....I SAID LIFE IS TOO SHORT!!!....WHAT???????/
  5. Interested in this..message sent!
  6. Lol...if only! Then again, the last time we played one of the lady punters got a bit over the top with the drink and was asked to leave by the manageress. She kicked off and had to be escorted out the door and continued to kick off and kick some folk as well! The manageress phoned the cop hotline and within minutes there was two vans and a car outside the venue! By the way I continued to play but had a great view of it all through the window! The cop car came screaming round the corner blue lights going,up on to the kerb and the guys jumped out leaving the doors open and decked the whizzed punter! handbag went flying and everything spilled out on to the deck! Apart from that it was an ok night!
  7. Playing in local pub Bar Bliss Kirkintilloch, just outside Glasgow last night with my band. Small bar with large window in front of which the band play and TVs on the wall. Looked up at one point to notice the other 3 members of the band playing away whilst watching golf on the TV....I continued to look out the window at passing Police cars and buses!
  8. Such a shame.....I also bought one of his guitars years ago. Sad loss.
  9. He three at one point! The neck was just a tad too wide for me but great bass guitars! Had player series and it was ok! Bit like a Squier!
  10. Did you contact Bass Bros and offer up your bass? Because as far as I know it's the only way they would offer to buy your bass. I have sold two guitars to Will and bought one from him. 100% recommend. No issues, excellent communication, gave fair price both times and money transferred in to my bank straight away.
  11. Had one the exact same as this sold it to Bass Bros. It's still on their site. Also sold my Fender Vintera to them. Tried my best but could not get on with the neck. If I had maybe just played the two it would not have been an issue but I have been flitting between 4 other guitars with jazz type necks. But all in all fantastic guitars that's for sure!
  12. Not that sure...lol. Its thin bit like a jazz and flat a bit like my old Yamaha BB1100s
  13. Beenlooking at these as well and Glasgow is just down the road from me! At least you got to try them out and see a bit of the city! A wee day out as they say! Don't know if it's your thing but I recently got hold of a Godin Shifter Classic bass. Made In Canada and pretty rare in this country it seems! I love mine and it has a massive sound and great tones.passive but you would not think so going by the output! Check the reviews online .By the way there is one for sale in Absolute Music and on their e bay page! Well worth it I love mine! Here is a picture of what it looks like!
  14. Very nice words! As mentioned I have only discovered the music of Gentle Giant in the last few months! Heard the name over the years and never bothered to check them out. To be honest I wouldn't have been able to take it all in! But in my opinion they are up there with the greats!! Check them out if you can! RIP Ray. What a player indeed!
  15. Just heard that bass player from Gentle Giant,Ray Shulman has passed away. I have recently just started to listen to Gentle Giant. It's funny how some bands pass you by. But if you get a chance check out Gentle Giant. Ray was a brilliant all round musician as well as a fantastic bass player.
  16. They must be funky cats! That means our cat compares my bass playing to a hoover or hairdryer!!
  17. The cat seems to like the stuff the cover is made of. He likes to sit on the laptop bag! I tell you what he doesn't like....the bass! As soon as I plug it in he runs off! .....no comment!!
  18. This is the blurb....really close to keeping this and sticking it in our keyboard players studio! But then again where would the cat sit?
  19. 29kg 650mm H, 600 W ,400 D. Google Genz Benz Bass Amplification and a full spec appears on a Bass Direct page from when they sold them.
  20. He may die as every say's he is not loud enough! And do you know what? He isn't!!!
  21. Yes....it is! As mentioned I went to Scarborough to get it but my wife and I wanted a night away anyway! I think it's a buyers market at the moment with lot's of great stuff for not a lot of cash! I think this will be getting removed and stored in our keyboard players studio for a bit! Been thinking about getting a Barefaced 2 x10 after reading a few reviews and speaking to someone who owns one!
  22. Yip. I decided to try a 4 x 10 setup after using the Fender Rumble 1 x 15 's for a good few years. I always used 2 as it made it a bit easier to reach the amp!! Seen these on here a few weeks back and decided to tie in a wee road trip wife the wife which involved going to a place near Scarborough and staying over at a nice wee hotel! Had a nice chat with the chap who sold me these,Chris (SgtD) He told me he had more or less used two at most gigs. Anyway I bought two and tried one out at my next gig! Wow!! what a sound ! Clear, deep and punchy!. Used with my Ampeg PF500 it certainly sounds very loud! Anyway managed to sell the Fenders straight away and I am punting one of these as I really don't need two! We shall see what happens ! The cat loves to sit on it so it will be missed!
  23. Oh dear! I went to Scarborough for these! I had an idea one would be enough. Fancy a trip to Scotland hoots mon ye ken up yer kilt an all that mince!
