1. Congrats on the pending sale. Hope it goes through, I was weakening myself!
2. Have a bump on me in the hope it sells and I am not tempted (and my marriage is preserved)
3. Sold Gareth some strings - great communications and prompt payment.
4. I have a set of Rotosound Swing Bass stainless steel roundwound, long scale - standard gauge (RS 66LD: 45.65.80.105) Brand new in box, unused. £12 posted to mainland UK (bought without thinking a while ago and decided to go GHS Bass Boomers now) Anyone interested?
5. Time to check last Saturday's lottery ticket ....
6. Bought a cover for my Schroeder 1212 from Richard. Very smooth and efficient - item as described, good communications, prompt delivery. I could not ask for better service.
7. Bought Karl's LMII. Throughout the deal Karl maintained great communication and it was closed out efficiently and quickly. He arranged the delivery and packed the cab well. Karl is highly recommended by me. A really good guy to do business with and a credit to this forum.
8. Bought John's Schroeder 1212L. Having been patient enough to put up with my tentative approach to this deal he never failed to maintain communication and everything was closed out efficiently and quickly once I had got my act together. He arranged the delivery and packed the cab well. John is highly recommended by me. A really good guy to do business with and a credit to this forum.
9.
This: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=78800 or this: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=79721 and this: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=79940 or this http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=79653 Should do your job.
You are absolutely right I have looked at both - the frustrating thing is I can't organise the logistics of picking either of the cabs up! (a combination of distance and size). Picking up the heads is not an issue.
10. I posted last week end to get some advice regarding whether to go with 2x10 or 1x15. I had some great feedback, the consensus being try 2x12. Notwithstanding the Eden 212 in the for sale thread which, to my great disappointment, the logistics of collection are too challenging I think 2x12 is out of my price range. I have thrashed about in the for sale thread, ebay, gumtree etc. over the last 2 months looking at any and all options open to me but I think a more focused approach may yield better results, so once again I am asking for advice. . My preferred budget is £500 (if 2x12 I might be able to go to £600 but am not optimistic this is realistic) - second hand . We play small gigs, pubs, rooms with up to 200 people (if we are lucky) . Our drummer is loud! . The solution must be portable, thus 4x10 is a definite no - so either a combo or small cab & head . Music is mainstream rock or rock/pop with some Gary Moore blues, Brian Adams, Santana thrown in (depending on the audience) If I can get any recommendations that might end my frustrating search I will be so grateful. Thanks in anticipation, Peter
11. Taking the feedback on board then, it looks like 2x12 is the way to go. However browsing around, 2x12 isn't anywhere near as common as 2x10 ..... SO ... the next question is any recommendations what I should be looking at. I want around 300w. If it is going to be a challenge I would be OK with a separate amp into a 2x12 cab. Doesn't look likely I can get anything 2nd hand for this within my collection area so may need to look at new. Thanks again
12.
I guess it very much depends on what sound you are trying to achieve and style/genre of music that you are playing. Do you need an all rounder that would be comfortable in any situation. Give us a few more details. All the best Gary
I like to hear my my G&L L2000 growl and punch out the sound which fits the sort of music we are playing at the moment so that is what I am trying to achieve. That said in the future I also want to get another bass for jazz which may mean a second combo. I also take on board the comments about weight & portability so I guess it is down to 1 or 2. Thanks for the replies to date.
13. This may have been asked before and I apologise if I am dragging something up that searching threads may answer! I am looking for a combo and have a basic question ... should I go for 1, 2 or 4 speakers. Are there relative merits to each of these? Any guidance from more experienced players would be most appreciated. If I get an answer that relates I can then narrow down the search. (A second question is why does nothing come up in amps & cabs marketplace in the East Midlands ... but that is just frustration on my part!)
14.
would it be too predictable for me to say Sadowsky??? Thought so..... I'll get my coat
Arrggggghhh! I knew this would be ananswer .... may have to start serious saving. Problem though is being able to try before I buy as per previous recommendations .... how do I get to experience all these wonderful options so I get to know what is right for me?
15. I am the proud owner of a USA G&L L2000 which I bought in from the US a year ago (via Talkbass forum). It was great value and I love the bass, however I am getting a GAS attack and the L2000 looks lonely on its own so something else to hang next to it is the solution. With a forthcoming visit over to the States soon (I have family over there), I am thinking of once again using the Talkbass extensive source of good value pre-loved bass guitars so I will start looking soon. My challenge is what to look at. I love the characteristics of the L2000 - it can really growl and thump. My new bass needs to have different characteristics .. something sharper, more precise and laid back (and be a looker). I don't have vast experience so would appreciate a bit of advice what to start considering that addresses my aspirations, so I am hoping the knowledge of my fellow Basschatters can be of assistance here - any suggestions and advice will be most welcome. Peter (BTW - not looking to buy at the moment so no offers thanks)
16. Sold subject to payment (thanks Nik for setting this up for me)
17. PM sent to Adam M
18.
Hi, a friend of mine is after a bass for her son for Xmas and this would fit the bill perfectly. PM about to be sent. Nik
Thanks .... PM back to you with details
19. Bump .....
20. For sale is my Ibanez BTB200, price £90 plus carriage at cost (to be determined and agreed based on location but should be no more than £12, possibly less as I use a very reasonable carrier) - I live between Nottingham and Derby and would be happy to meet within a reasonable distance to deliver. This has been my practice guitar for three years and has never been gigged. The bass is in dark pewter, almost black. It has no knocks or dings. These guitars have a reputation for a high action but this one has been brilliantly set up by a noted Nottingham based technician. The twin pick-ups are DX-4’s at the neck and bridge combined with a PHAT II EQ control and Master Volume plus Balance knobs. You should note that there are some Ibanez fakes around but this has been verified as genuine by Headstock (UK Distributors) as a genuine serial number and I have the email specifying this. Picture is about the best I can get from my digital camera (the sale of this Bass will hopefully fund the purchase of a better one!). However if you want specific shots, PM me and I will do my best - same channel for any questions Although my post score is low, I am a regular lurker around this forum. I have some feedback on Talkbass following a purchase from the USA earlier this year which I can link you to. Peter
