1. thanks for help guys i am ordering the brass nut now... Only thing is i have option of set left or set right nut... My bass is right handed but i get the feeling the nut i need is 'set left' is that correct? feel a bit stupid asking this http://shop.warwick....1322750299A8077 is what i'm looking at for right handed Thumb 4 string
2. I Vote Mac - a bit bias because i have only ever used cubase 5 on a rubbish laptop for PC - Mac use Logic so user friendly I spend my time making music rather than trying to get the DAW to do what I want. but tbh thats proberly down to me not the mac vrs PC things
3.
I wouldn't say criminal.... More unorthodox Would love to hear a whole song though
I think i'm going to have to buy a fret less for sure now because they want to add Hey You to the set list..
4.
Ok I'm done. This took a lot longer than I'd hoped, mainly because the idea of remixing my past 12 months' entries and creating a giant mashup of them all wasn't as easy at it first seemed. In fact, it was a gigantic pain in the ass… involving lots of pitching, time-stretching, re-sampling, etc, in order to make everything fit together with any degree of coherence. I ended up starting from scratch with a lot of it, including the drum track. But meh, it was fun. In a self-flagellating kind of way The soundtrack doesn't match the video transitions perfectly, but I had to sacrifice the timing in a few places to make the music work. Anyway, here you go… NB: this track contains one instance of swearing - a m***********, to be precise! - so it's not safe for work or family viewing (that's a heads-up for Lurks, who I know sometimes listens to these tracks with his children). That's me pretty much done until mid-September now (silly season at work), but I'll hopefully have time to sling something together for the start of the 'new season'. Cheers all
Quality mate! really impressive mix and composing
5.
My critism is, I would have rather heard a full song rather than this rather oddly compiled medley!! It didn't allow you to get a feel for any of the songs if I'm honest! But I guess I'm probably more interested than most basschatters in view of my band Out of interest, it didn't look like you were playing a fretless on High Hopes? Would have been interested to have heard how that would have sounded from start to finish as the bass has such an integral role.
I agree full song would perhaps be better as it does seem to jump about a bit we do have full footage of the gig but not sure what to do with it all, and no unfortunately I do not own a fretless bass which I know is a bit of a crime to play this song with out it!!
6. Pink floyd tribute band I played a few gigs with recently, Floyd was not really my thing but was fun to play with these guys and now quite enjoy a few pink floyd tracks, Not perfect note for note replication before anyone mentions and sorry that quality is not great. Let me hear your comments / critisim . Seen some really good vidoes in this thread inspireing stuff!
7. I am in dire need of a Midget but... I cant decide whether to order one of their new Super midgets soon to be released (and wait a million months for production) or get a second hand midget a bit cheaper.. I know what you'd prefer . But the compact ;] now there's a beaut I have not previously considered getting due to size, but the pair together.. I can only image. hmm.. decisions decision . Financially though I have to wait until September before I can commit to anything but I am interested!!
8.
When you're fretting a note, the nut material becomes irrelevant. If a brass nut did affect tone or sustain, it'd only be on open strings.
Yeah makes sense well im pretty sure i will get one of the from the warwick shop somtime soon, how do i remove the old nut? is it glued in place?
9. The nut on my Warwick thumb is damaged and altough it is sill usable i want to get another nut before it get worse, I have been looking at gettings one of the Warwick brass Just a nut lll. Other than durability does a brass nut provide benefits to the tone and/or sustain?? I will probably get a brass one either way so i dont end up having to replace it again but just interested to know.
10. Are you willin to sell them separately ?
11. Yeah get some pictures up
12. Nice one - I am always looking for fresh reading material! thanks.
13. It has fanned frets - I have seen a few basses like this before never played one. Or really understood the benefit if them? What difference does it make?
14. this thread is really not helping me save my money =[ - such beautiful basses
15. Love these basses.... one day I shall be a proud owner
16. Congrats low down, wicked track mate!
17. I have KRK 8400 headphones they sound great and are so comfy I can use them for hours at a time with no issues. However i do think they are a little bass heavy so maybe not ideal for mixing (so sorry if it kind of defeats purpose of this thread) but for listening and composing I love them they sound great, very wide freq response and can really pick out minute details within a record. check them out if you get a chance
18. I voted for discreet earlier in the week, really liked it and the production quality was very good. some really nice compositions were submitted was not easy to vote!
19. haha well it made me smile anyway - glad the post was of use ^^
20. For any piano players out there this website is great i been using it so much lately for learning classical piano, starting to really get my sight reading skills up - i have found reading for piano makes reading music for bass seem like a walk in the park lol, Just thought I would share this anyway as I found it a struggle previously to find full scores online with out paying. Even if you don't play piano I find it's very useful just to see how these great composers structured their music and how they used clever harmony to support melodies. Might not be every bodies cup of tea but I love it! Anyway enough talking here's the link: http://www.allpianoscores.com/index.php Just select a composer on the left, pick a PDF download it or print it or just view it on your screen. Have fun!
