If I had £1500 I would play every used and new bass I could in my prices range. Have a think about 2nd hand, sorry, pre-loved, from a music shop as there is slightly more come back if something goes wrong. But play....if possible thru a similar amp to what you will use. I always smile a wee bit when Guitar shop dudes plug an economy bass thru their best amp or Markbass rig when the customer plays.
Only stated this because many Squiers are close to the £500 price point and to be frank, these new standards seem to be Squiers with a decal. I wonder what price these will gather second hand and if that will affect Squier sales?
I got back into playing because a school I worked in got two cheap Westfield P-Basses for the music department. They asked me to check them out. One was reasonably playable, the other was immense! Immediately my bassoon was tickled and I was back in the game!
Initially I bought an electric guitar but pretty soon had a purple squire P-bass bought off a colleague and away I went!
17 years later - Fender Precision MIM, Fender Cabronita Thinline and a Martin D10E.
Young 16 year old lad called Sam McLeod carried off the whole gig with aplomb. Info here...it was brilliant!

Orchestration of the horns was redolent of Word of Mouth material.
Anyway - £11 for this excellence?
Wow!
