Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!
Salt on your Bass? replied to dudewheresmybass's topic in Effects
Rationalised a touch following an atom upgrade to include the tuner capability. Bit lighter, fewer pedals and everything fits on a pt2 now...see how long this lasts I guess... I do like the h9...but I also really like the MERIS mercury 7... -
You still got the matamp? How's the head of doom?

My gigrig atom is in for an upgrade, so just went with this simple set up at rehearsal tonight instead of fuzzes and delays and verbs.... I've only just recently reacquired the XXL. I absolutely love it. Wonderfully filthy distortion. Don't see many around these days...shame. I love it. -

Thanks for all the thoughts and recommendations. For the interim, I've landed on an iLoud MTM which I picked up for £120. I'll be adding a second in the future but initially for low volume practice, it's ace. Need the second before I de headphone when mixing etc obviously. As a result I've quite got into preamps which I haven't really taken much notice of before -

Final pre recording update to my board. Been after a chorus and took a flyer on the TC 3rd dimension. I like it a lot and think it works pretty well, so chucked it on. Pretty out of space now so need to stop again but really happy with the sounds I'm getting -
Latest Incarnation - Big & YES Heavy Board..

Nice set up. What loops are you using? I've just run out on my atom I think. Im pretty new to midi but found it reasonably straight forward with the g3. Just have to cross reference pedal manual with gigrig set up. I'm better at pc than cc though and I also have to write down patches and presets or I forget -

I've taken to running a head, plus a head as a boost as my standard rehearsal rig lately. Just getting into stereo on my delay as well. Heavy but very, very enjoyable.... And it crushes -
Sold a twonotes cabm to PG - really smooth transaction. Would definitely transact again.

I really should try a passive at some point....

We're a one guitar band as well. More trad end with some more modern passages. I've always used a fuzz as a result to cover space, together with volume. I'm the same with pbasses but can't say I have a recommendation from your list I'm afraid. Lakeland sticks out to me with the Geezer connection. I've always just gone for whatever I personally liked the look of/ playability. If it doesn't 'fit' the genre but you make it sound ace and enjoy playing it then it'll become a genre popular off the back of you

Pretty much as thodrik said tbh. It depends what type of doom you're playing as well. I'd be surprised if the orange didn't cut it in any sub genre (amp worship through to trad) - pretty sure Boris use one as a part of their set up somewhere. What sort of style are you going for? What's the band set up? If you're thinking of changing i always go for big iron (abm type amp, Peavy as you're looking, or full valve) just my preference as it feels like they hit harder and are a 'better' aesthetic. Pbass should be a good place to start if you like it. I now use a Spector in my band (active 5). Had a thunderbird prior (active). Maybe try a fuzz or wider type drive with the orange to get you into whatever territory you're aiming at. Muff is a good starter.... I've always used fuzzes in doom projects. Cab wise, I use a barefaced retro 210 (X3). Vintage vibe, lightweight, but not a cheap option. Used 6 or 810s go for silly money these days if you can handle the weight and load. A lot of bands we play with though still end up using house gear on heavy rotation gigs....so cab isn't necessarily a key factor/ consideration depending on what you're going for. If you have loads of power, you'll never get to crank it if you have too much cab. Bit of a balance these days on a standard stage....big cab, lower wattage head will do it, as will smaller cab with high wattage head in most circumstances. Hope there's a useful thought in there somewhere 😂

Bought a pedal from Dean. Excellent condition, as described, great transaction and very helpful. Wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again. Cheers! ✌️

Hi, I replaced my 210 grill with a black version sometime ago. Had this kicking around still so figured I'd list it. Not sure if post is viable in terms of cost etc. I'm just north of Wellingborough and I rehearse in Stevenage so can meet/ drop between the two. Happy to provide more pics if needed. Any questions drop me a line. Cheers

This has rapidly become bass of preference in my collection of 2. Euro5LX - My first Spector, but what an instrument. Looking forward to recording with it in a few months time. Been writing our latest album for over two years with it. Shot from Fridays gig

Did a guest appearance at our local metal to the masses final last night. Not gigged since desertfest and whilst it was only a 30min set, nice to blow the cobwebs off. Matamp and barefaced combo with the Spector sounded great and got to crank stage volume a bit. Gigs on hold for a while now until we've finished the next album ✌️

Hey, I'm looking at a 500 at the moment as a potential back up/ home piece of kit. Is the gain and drive on the amp volume pot responsive? E.g. Can you dial it in overdriven and clean it up to pristine by backing off the input? Thanks very much, ✌️

Good luck with the final dude ✌️

Home studio monitors & practice speakers

Thanks both - will they provide enough headroom to handle bass practice through them without distorting in your experience? They look a reasonable set to take a punt on as my first venture. Appreciate the thoughts. Cheers -

Thanks, they're some really helpful considerations. I'm unfortunately not likely to get a chance to listen and compare to be honest so will end up buying without listening. It is a small space, however I want to make sure I have enough head room to get a bit of volume out of them before they hit distortion. Ill have a think about budget but really wanted to keep under the £400 threshold. I'd be prepared to go to £600 though if there really is significant difference. In the meantime I'll have a trawl through more threads and take a look at some online retailers. ✌️ -
Hi all, I'm looking at purchasing some active monitors for a light bit of mixing and home recording/ band demo work and wondered what recommendations anyone could offer for a set that are towards the budget end of the market but represent good value. Secondly, I want to be able to use them for home practice when not using headphones. Does anyone do this? Does it work? I'm intending on using cab IRs as part of the preamp/ set up I'm putting together. My chain would be: Bass > effects board > preamp > cab sim > interface > monitors / laptop / headphones Thanks for any help, greatly appreciate any experience and recommendations.
