It seems the problems that have gone on this weekend in London and Paris got me thinking about some companys that see to be moving there productions to China..and it seems that some bass companys like I understand Ampeg and others seem to be going this way. If you were buying an amp that was made in the USA or China would it make a difference to you I see adverts on ebay amp made in the USA or made in China just a view

  7. I have a 1977 Musicman maple neck that I got a few weeks ago...the frets seem worn and low but not worn out What are the first signs sound wise and in playing that they will need to be replaced... the guitars I have had in the past have always been fairly new... any help Stewart
  8. I have been the last year in the front room playing through either a Ampeg PR 4 X10 or head phones through a Boss GT6B playing alone th CDS or what evers on. Got the chance to join a band playing covers of 60s and 70s stuff. On saturday was the first gig and after weeks gettin to grips with the 35 songs needed for the night it came as a shock as on stage it was hard to make out what I was playing.I use a old musicman late 70s a friend lent me to be getting on with ,Ampeg pr 4 10s and a Ampeg SVT 2 pro the band was in my view loud on stage for the music they were playing but it felt I need to turn the bass up on the guitar more to feel the sound rather than to hear it. Also due to the position on stage cab was right behind me and being on the floor was low down, some one did say that the bass was very bassey off stage... any help other than tell them all to turn down Stewart If this subject is in the wrong area then sorry.

  12. Thanks to all who replied to this topic...moving from Fender Stat to MM Stingray in a short time due to band needs was hard going at first ...All i can say is 20 odd years of playing guitar it was so different to be thrown in at the deep end to play bass in a few months....I seem to be overplaying on everthing... Basic 3 cord rock and roll numbers so easy on guirtar seemed so busy on bass. A year later and with the help of other bass player friends to guide me along my thoughts on trying a 5 string was would it be like going from guitar to bass .....going from 4 string to 5 thanks for the info Stewart

The main Question is it better to stay on 4 string and soldier on or move to a 5 and go in at the deep end.....and what may sound a stupid question and having never played one ....advice any one
