1. Okay, so I think I've hit a bit of a point with my pedalboard now that I'm just fed up of it. If anybody has seen the photos in the pedalboard thread, it is basically very full and has about 25 'things' on it of various persuasions, including a couple of things to split it into two signals to power two amps clean and dirty. It takes up loads of room, it's the heaviest thing I own, and if something comes loose, troubleshooting it is the worst job imaginable. I think I want to downsize it all to less than half that number of pedals really. It was fun while it lasted! So I was thinking... I currently have an OC-2, a gated fuzz and a saturated distortion, which are all used in various combinations to form the basis of my 'synth' sounds. Basically glitchy, spluttery fun. Would I be able to create patches similar enough to these on something like the Octavius Squeezer? I know we have a few people with them here. Does it do a decent job of just an octave down effect, for example? If it could replace a few pedal combinations, that would be great. Also, does it have a clean blend on it? I guess I've just picked out the Octavius Squeezer as it seems to be one of the pedals that will do just about everything by the looks of it, even if it is costly. So any similarly sized/priced pedals with the same functions and quality would also be good if anyone has suggestions?
2. FWIW I really like my SMM/H. Little bit noisy when it is on though.
3. I'm getting quiet fed up of my big board already. Might have a MASSIVE cull of effects from it and downsize a lot. So if you see anything on my board you want, drop me a line Haha.
4. Get a valve amp and crank it, and have something super clean and crisp, and get a switcher so you only have one engaged at once
5.
decent debut/YOT covering period or sh!te techno girl pants/funk/jazz + side project era?
Both albums. Side projects don't count as they are not Glassjaw. If I had to pick one 'era' though, EYEWTKAS everytime. Though I'm super stoked by their new song.
6. Northern Compact now in the hands of Monz.
7.
back - minor threat, gorilla biscuits
Are you straight edge by any chance? ;D
8.
They can but it's not as cool
If you can put it in a reasonably sized pedal, you can put it in a 1u rack
9.
What if it had 200 blue led's huh? then you'd want it in a pedal, huh? Man work is boring today.
Are you saying racks can't have 200 blue LEDs too?
10. I want to replace like for like with my SVP for another 1u preamp. Don't want to buy bigger rack! I'd far rather have it as a 1u than a pedal though.

MW FX

I know someone who is getting an endorsement from them, so if that comes through, I'll ask his opinions on them
12. If they made a 1u preamp that had awesome drive on it, I'd sell my SVP for one of them in a heartbeat.
I'm going to call Jeff today about making a Matamp preamp as now I have 2 Strategy 400's I think I could get a better tone out of Matamp in to 2 400w all tube power sections than the 400+ slaved into a strategy 400, gives me roughly the same power. So Matamp tone, Mesa power for those days when only 800w all tube will do
13.
True! But we are comparing the same cabs, Are there any parts of the sound that the Compact had that was definately a part of the schroeders sound and nothing else?
Well we were comparing different models of the same brand, so it wouldn't tell the whole story anyway. All I can say about the Schroeder is that it seemed more 'audible'. The Compact has much more rounded mids. More natural sounding. Infact, dare I say it, the thing I like about the Schroeder is how 'ugly' it sounds. The Compact was anything but ugly sounding. There is something about the Schroeders which actually sounds very brutish, while the Compact was more refined in comparison. That brutishness is probably what I was referring to in reference to 'punch'. Both of them sound great in their own ways. I plan to replace one of my cabs with a Barefaced one soon
14.
This is interesting as Chris (Finbar) a dedicated schroeder user said this was what was missing when he tried the compact.
As you say, with these non-technical terms, we could be talking about an entirely different completely subjective sound, but using the same word to describe it!
15. I'm pretty sure someone I know uses one with his MIDI controlled pedalboard for his wah pedal, so I'd assume so, but I'm not entirely certain :/
16. SOLD
17. I could really do with the money on this as soon as possible, really. If it's still around by then, then go for it. But I can't promise to keep it for you for that long, I'm sorry
18. Watch the for sale section here. Two or three SVP-Pros have been up for sale recently I seem to remember? They pop up regularly enough, just be patient metaltime's: (good price too) http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...ampeg&st=20
19. Yup. Eats batteries though.
20. So the BSP only has one input, but splits that signal to two channels (clean and OD), then blends them again before the single output? So to utilise the two outputs on the bass, you need two amps? In which case, I'd say don't get a second amp like an SVT4. Get another 1u preamp (The Ampeg SVP-Pro maybe? Ampeg seems to be your thing!), and run each preamp into a separate channel of the same stereo poweramp. It saves space, weight and money

Daisy Chain

The Line 6 stompboxes are notorious for that. They won't work in a standard daisychain setup.
22. I'm kind of unclear as to what you're looking for too. If you're looking to do a clean/dirty setup as Alex suggested, doesn't the BSP have a clean and a dirty output? So you'd just need one two channel poweramp to do that. Although it sounded from the first post, that you just wanted to have two amps in your rack, but I'm not sure why?
23. Being in a band of any kind makes you a better musicians. I've been in several bands, ranging from crap to awesome. And each one has given me a different perspective, and required different things of me. You pick that up and take that onto the next group of people you play with. But I'd never be at this stage with that accrued knowledge if I hadn't overcome that 'I'm too crap to be in a band' attitude which I did have when I started. Find a new band, even if it is people you've never met, not just friends
24. I no longer need this tuner, so someone else can benefit from it Everyone needs a tuner, and this is a pretty good one as far as these things go - just search out reviews. Handles a low B just fine. Had a few knocks at gigs, but generally good condition and perfect working order. I'll give it a clean before I send it off if you like. Plus it looks like a Cylon. What more excuse do you need? Searching the forum, £40 posted looks like a fair price. No trades please. Only want cash.
