1. I don't really know what's going on with Sean to be honest. Is it worth me getting in touch with the person after Sean on the list instead, Alex? Just to keep the ball rolling...
2. Yup, actually checked that out yesterday - it's been canceled
3. Am I missing something? If you are looking for something to fill the place of the Blackstar, why not get one of them?
4. Just got back from a practice. It was totally worth doing all that to my board. Combined with a slight shuffle round with my amp, my bass sound has never been so epic ^_^
5. To be honest, I've no idea. I haven't been involved in booking any of these shows! I'm hoping there'll be someone local playing with us. Surprising how many promoters don't realise that putting an out of town band on with no local bands is a bad idea. Or that putting a non-local band on first or last is usually a bad idea. Such is the way of the world though! If its a small place, we won't need a PA for the instruments anyway We can pump out volume I prefer small places to massive places though. Is there a stage? I like playing on the floor D:
6. The little bypass loops were made for me by umph. I used to use more traditionally sized ones, but I didn't have the space, so I downsized I prefer the larger ones for stomping, but these are great for space saving. I can't remember the exact details of the show we're playing to be honest, but if you go to www.myspace.com/maeslostempire, it has all our tour dates listed in the usual place I get to try the new board out tonight I hope. Maybe with a band, maybe not. I only just realised how heavy it has become
7. Still waiting on Sean to get back to me about what day he can come and get it!
8. I would say yes to anybody using more than to pedals - you would benefit from a board. Until you've done it, you just can't appreciate how much simpler it is turning up to a practice or gig and plugging two cables and one plug in, and then every pedal is working, the right spacing away from each other, with all your settings intact and minimal travel/breakages on your patch leads. Not all pedalboards have to be big, and if you go the DIY route, you can get something exactly the size you need. As for powering them, the TU-2 uses a 9v supply, as does the BDDI (I assume!). The Tonehammer runs off 18v, but you can get a voltage doubler to plug into a 9v plug (I do this on my board), and the DL4 will also run off the same 9v supply if you have the correct adapter (again, I do this with no problems). So you only need one power supply with a single daisy chain cable and a couple of adapters. .
9. It goes in the back of the car with the other identically sized board that our guitarist has, along with the rest of our gear... And I have very little signal loss. Certainly nothing I'd find objectionable.
10. Not even plugged it in through my amp in this incarnation yet, so I don't have anywhere it can be heard except at shows... for now We're playing Stoke on Trent on the 25th November though Although there's a fair amount of stuff on it, I don't really have many crazy sounds. I have a lot of things like bypass loops which take up space but don't make interesting sounds, so to speak. Its designed to be functional over everything else. What are you using for your distortion on your band's tracks? I have a pretty full on distortion, and a more subtle overdrive, but nothing like what you have going on inbetween. The clean blend makes it work - very Showbiz-era Muse! Was an absolute pain actually putting it all together though, getting all the cables cut to length, plugging all the 9v things in, and even arranging everything so it fit at all o_O Judicious use of cable ties (some things are tied into the board itself, and a lot fo cables are tied together) and bits of wood to raise certain pedals helped a lot though. Shame about your band, it was nice stuff. Are the mp3s available from your myspace? I'll have a gander in a bit
11. PS, I just listened to your band cheddatom, and I really like it (Y)
12. Really wanted a 3102, but couldn't quite stretch to that. Just taken delivery of an 1804 about 10 minutes ago though - should be more than enough for my nefarious purposes I think I have a sale, pending payment
13. No, the SVP-Pro came from steve-soar via dood! Unless it came from you even before that D: And MORE POWER!!!! is somewhat appropriate, but doesn't tell the whole story. Just getting something that puts more power out per side in stereo than this amp rather than having all the eggs in one basket (er... cab) with 1200W. When running one cab I'll have less power, but I don't think I ever reached the limits of the 1200W on tap with this thing, so I'm not worrying
14. Hmm. That's what I was thinking too. If you're not doing it properly though, noise reduction seems kind of pointless to me. The only workaround I can see for using the ProRack would be using my wireless as a rackmount rather than on my pedalboard. That would plug into the channel one input of the ProRack, then a lead would have to go from the output to my pedals, then two back from my pedalboard to my two preamps. Then the noisier one would go through the second channel of the ProRack. That would be workable. But I'd need an even larger rack in order to rackmount the wireless (not sure I fancy a 5u rack right now tbh), and then I'd have 3 leads going from my pedalboard to amp one way or another. Could happily cable tie them all together or something for quicker setup though. Hmm.
15. Did you get my message?
16. I was planning on it being posted both ways and/or paying people for petrol, I'm not that tight about it! Haha ^_^ But no, there's no polystyrene corners left, just the half box. Shouldn't be too hard to rustle something up though.
17. The Whammy is a better pedal, I own both. But it depends what you want it for really. The PS-5 sounds more 'metallic' sounding, maybe a bit more brittle if that makes sense. I originally bought the PS-5 and an expression pedal to save some space instead of a Whammy, but if you want what a Whammy does, only a Whammy does it. The big thing that the PS-5 has that the Whammy doesn't is the intelligent harmony function, and I think some of the tracking is a little better, but there's not much in it.
18.
whats with george l's at the moment? Everybody wants 'em! Had people beating down my, erm, inbox when i sold mine last month.
Worst bit is I found a bag of about 20 I didn't know I had after buying masses to build up the number I needed -_-
19. Bump. Definitely selling this now. £250 + postage. Royal Mail parcel post insured is around £17. Different postage arrangements/couriers on request.
20. Sean's picking it up from me I think, so no need to post it yet. That problem then falls on his shoulders
21. So the "Double Midget Bottom" (hereby referred to as DMB ) is the subbiest thing I'd need for the sub 350Hz solution, although it is still not a true sub? The PLX 1804 looks like a good amp actually, and lighter than what I'm using now. If that would happily push the DMB for some louder bigger lows than the standard DM, then I'd consider it. I always liked that my current QSC has the filtering option on it, but couldn't tell you if it made an audible difference to the sound, just thought it would be more efficient for the amp? I suppose with the extra power, the filtering becomes less important? In other news, still waiting for a reply from Sean about picking the Compact up, just to keep people updated on progress! By the way, what the hell did casapete do to the box I received the cab in? There's only half of it o_O
22. Cheers, I'd really appreciate it I don't think its really intended for use with rackmounted effects, so it may not work too well :/
23. Okay, so I've been looking at the ISP Decimator ProRack or ProRack G for my rack setup. Reason being I drive my preamp really hard, and it seems to bring up some background noise. Wouldn't bother me too much, but I mic my cab at gigs and when recording, so the noise can be quite apparent sometimes. A couple of my effects (distortions mostly) also can be a little noisy. I have most of them in bypass loops for when they're not on, but it'd be nice to cut some of that out for short staccato bits and the like when the pedal is actually on and in the signal path. I also have an empty space in my rack at the moment, and no space on my pedalboard whatsoever, so when looking at noise reduction units, the ProRack looked pretty much just what I wanted to be looking at. The ProRack G actually looks really good for this as it monitors the input signal direct from the guitar as well as your preamp stage. But I really won't want one lead running from my bass to the amp, then another one out to the pedalboard at the front of the stage as my effects aren't rackmounted, and a third one back to the amp, as well as the two already going from the board to my amp. That is a LOT of dicking about. Also messes with my wireless setup a bit. I could run the whole pedalboard into the guitar input of the ProRack G, but that wouldn't really help clean up the noise from my pedalboard at all. Is there a clever way around this?
