1. I anchor on the string below what I'm playing on. It feels a bit odd at first, but you'll soon be moving your thumb around without even thinking about it. I find it helps with string muting too. For what its worth, I play with my thumb in the 'controlling a puppet' style as you call it, and have no problems, but I don't know if that's typical either! Just feels more stable that way to me. It stays in line with my middle finger all the time. I think its a comfort thing - if you're going well with your thumb out in a hitchiker stylee, then just carry on like that
2. Ta Guy, I'll back that up - sales patter aside, 7 strings really aren't hard to play! And this one is no exception Sounds the part too. I just need to move this on to fund something else I really have my eye on, as this has never been my main bass since I've had it.

Holy Trinity

Cream Pie Memory Man (kills a few birds with one stone) Digitech Whammy There's stuff like a tuner, but that's not the same thing. I could tune up with a non-pedal tuner before playing if I had to.
4.
I never saw that - what channel was it on, and is it online?
Was on Calendar local news on ITV. Maybe getting on for a year ago? There was a link for it, but I reckon it will have expire by now. It was basically some woman pretending to build a bass XD
5. I think the Kaiser Chiefs bass is a fairly new development, and certainly more relevant to people who buy the Star than JJ Burnel I should think. But yeh, why need a reason like that to do an article about Jon? If he secures things like this and the TV interview he had before for a bit of extra publicity, I can't blame him At least they let him wear a Shuker t-shirt this time - the TV interview people said he had to take it off as it was too much advertising apparently!
6. I'll take offers on this by the way. Just don't take the weewee!
7. Caught a glimpse of a Jon Shuker article in the Sheffield Star the other day (so obviously the majority of you won't have seen it, not living in Sheffield), but I didn't have any pennies to pick it up with. Just wondering if anyone had a scan? Might have one or two interesting things in maybe?
8. Price drop. Need to sell
9. only a B!
10. It'll get a proper thread once I've finished it resplendent with pedals and all, but here you go for now Not a good photo though Roughly, it goes something like: Shuker Elite 7 NT Lehle P-Split splitter (Side A ) My pedalboard -> Ampeg SVP-Pro (Side B ) Aguilar Tonehammer Side A and B each get a separate channel on the QSC PLX1202 Each channel on the QSC feeds a separate Schroeder 1212L
11. Right, I was looking at the XDS+, but seeing as how the receiver looks massive and my pedalboard space is at a premium, I might just plump for the XDS95. Is the XDS+ THAT much better? Also, why do American stores not ship over here -_-
12. Yeah, I've been playing basses this weight for years now, I keep them on for hours at a time, and its fine with a decent strap. Just don't wear it round your knees!
13. Yeah, +1 on the bungee effect. I have one of those neoprene Comfort Strapps, and used it once before deciding I didn't like what it did when you throw your bass around a bit. As important as a good strap though, I'd say invest in some straplocks if you want to rock, but some people insist you really don't need them.
14. Would you sell the 18v adapter separate?
15.
my 20 meter one
o_O feet?
16. Might drop the bomb on an XDS-Plus. Any recommendations on who to buy from? They all seem to be about the same price.
17. I want the rack version, but my setup requires it on the pedalboard, not in my rack
18. Is the X2 cool with active basses/hot output basses and such too? It gets such great reviews, its just looking at me and begging me to get one. Whether its on slightly dodgy ground or not.
19. I wait months for a 1212L to come up, give up and order one new, then you put this up the very same day? You're a bad man
20. I've actually been given a postage address now. But I don't feel at all happy with it, so I think that's that!
21. I asked that exact question - what do you play currently - and it was ignored. That pretty much seals it for me. Oh, and the bass is 1200. I don't think 200 would cover it plus duties to America.
I'd check out the paypal t&c's as Im not sure if it's a fraudulent payment whether paypal can debit your account retrospectively if you have withdrawn the cash? Why not ask some bassy type questions of the buyer: it should become apparent quite quickly if they are kosher? How about "what type of bass do you currently play" or "what do you think of ...X?" On another note, how much is the Bass you are selling? From reading their reply it appears they are offering £200 postage on top of the purchase price. Is it rare, does really it warrant their interest? Where are they based? Sorry to sound negative but this does not sound kosher to me. They want you to send it to the USA where it will incur duty and the friend will then take it somewhere else when he gets back from Asia where it will incur duty....???
22. Yeah, I'm not liking this talk of 'the item'. Going to let it pass. Can wait for a proper sale
it sounds like a scam to me. I got a few of these when I advertised a bass on gumtree - the responses always talked about 'the item' rather than exactly what I was selling, leading me to think it was just spam spewed out to every ad to try and get personal details or whatever else it is spammers make loot from. I'd avoid unless you can check it out thoroughly, M
23. I sent a reply just now asking a few questions. I asked for a shipping address so I could work out postage costs, whether he would be happy paying by cheque, and a couple of bass related questions just to see if the buyer actually knows what he's buying. Response was:
Hi, I did got your mail. I want you to ask DHL, FEDEX or UPS for the shipping cost of the item to my friend in USA. I want you to send me the final price for the item and get back to me with Paypal money request, i will make payments to you today via paypal without any further delay. I'm presently on leave to Asia for now, i'm sending the item to my friend in USA.
Smells dodgier by the minute.
24. Okay, so I posted a bass for sale on another website, and received an email about it. Great, I thought. Here's how it went down:
Buyer: Is it still available? Me: Yes it is! Buyer: Thanks for your quick response, i will be offering you £200 for the postage cost via DHL, FEDEX, OR UPS, to my friend who has just been posted to INDIANA (USA) on a training course as i'm on leave to Asia soon and won't be able to receive the item here in UK. Do get back to me with the total cost and your Pay Pal e-mail so i can make payment straight away. I want you to send me Pay Pal Money Request as soon as you get this mail. Thanks you for your help and support.
Maybe I worry too much, and I hope this mail isn't from someone on here, or I'll feel like a douche. But it just doesn't sound quite right to me. I would just expect the buyer to sound a bit more interested in the bass. Not one mention of the bass itself at all. Can my ad be that good that no questions need to be asked about it or anything? And I don't expect everyone to have perfect English, and while its perfectly understandable, it seems almost like it has been run through a language converter or something in places. Actually, that wouldn't bother me, had I not had such a mountain of emails from wealthy Nigerian beneficiaries If I receive a paypal payment and then withdraw it to my bank before shipping the bass, nothing can go wrong, right?
