1. Pretty much my thoughts - I'm very happy with my QSC. I was just hoping I could get away with having a smaller rack No such thing as a free lunch.
If you're expecting to push your rig hard then I'd look at amps with decent limiting and high pass filtering and I'd be more reassured by having something designed to handle subwoofer duty in a big PA, not something that DJs will use to push cheap 'mains'. Crown Xti aren't much more expensive and are light and well specced. QSC are more pricey but still great. Yamaha have some similar ranges too. It is more expensive to design an amp to fit in 1U than 2U and what's the point if it ends up twice as deep front to back? Alex
2. but why isn't the X2 legal here?
3. Okay, so I really need a new wireless. Mine gave up the ghost. I'm thinking long term here - I don't want one which interferes with all this switching off of radio frequencies in 2012. So digital it is, right? I've tried the Stageclix and it isn't for me, so I'm looking at the X2. All the reviews look great. Just looks like a new lead for it might be useful, but that's a problem easily solved. But I also know they aren't legal here in the UK? Why exactly is that, if the Stageclix is?
4. I've only ever played in bands with one/two guitarists and a drummer. But its only in this band that I've started using effects. Me and the guitarist kind of encourage each other to make the silliest noises possible really, and its about knowing when to use your effects. If its a massive chorus with every instrument playing loud, then yeah, it might get a bit lost. But if your keyboard player drops out and its a much more sparse affair, then effect your signal to the max Think it also depends if you're doing originals or covers. You have a lot more space to shoehorn a particular effect in if you are writing the song yourself!
5. So I had a quick look and there seem to be a few things counting against the T Amp as far as I can see. Can't be bridged/run parallel. No filters for the lower frequencies. No limiter. No lighter than my current 2u amp (not a fault, but still important to me). Depth is 50cm apparently. Wouldn't fit in my rack or come anywhere close. From the reviews I've seen (there aren't many), it looks like the amps aren't that strong on 2 ohm loads. Not a big deal for me. Think I'll probably hold on to what I have for now.
6. Just bought a different power amp more suited to my needs. So I'm selling this one. Excellent amp, very reliable, racked all its life. Condition is great, just a few marks and scratches on the top of the amp where a preamp has sat on top of it, and scraped when being pulled in and out when moving the setup between racks. 1200W bridged into a single 4ohm cab. Can also be used in stereo or parallel configurations for adding more cabs. Sub 30 and 50Hz filters as well as clip limiting. 2u, 21lbs, 13 inches total depth. Front Back Not my finest photos, and the rear one is next to useless, but they're the best I can do at the moment Would like £250 for this.
7. Surely if you just lower the dirty level and the clean level both, the overall volume will go down?
8. To get twice as much power as I have now, I'd still have to pay more, even if I sold my current amp. That T-Amp 3400 looks good too, but then we're getting over 500 quid! I'm looking for what it can put out into 2 x 4 ohms by the way, not bridging it
9. Doesn't seem to have anything in the way of being able to filter out sub 20 or 50 Hz frequencies like me QSC does at the moment. I've always told myself this is better for my cabs, and a more efficient use of power, but will it make a big difference?
10. Looking for something to give me a more compact rack, and saving 1u on a power amp with this would be great. Also pumps out more power than I use currently too!
11. No but that looks great!
12. How cheaply..? I would seriously consider a second set if it was cheap enough
13. Phew. They were found rolling round the boot of our guitarist's car. I'm relieved.
14. I went from the exact same rig as you to a lightweight one with a 1212L and you're pretty much spot on. It doesn't have as much low end as the Marshall stuff did, but I don't miss it TOO much.
15. I think it would. I removed mine and put them in twice, and they didn't go back in quite how they were when I got them. If I was really serious about using some for iPod/IEM purposes, I would get a set specifically for that purpose.
16. Haven't put it on the scales, but at a guess I'd say it comes in around 12lbs? I've been playing heavy basses long enough for it to not bother me though. You just man up and get used to it Has a comfy leather strap too. Edit: Scales say 12 and a quarter ;p
17. I keep coming back to this and considering the Barber. What would you say it sounds similar to? I'm really looking for something with a bit more of an edge than my cream pie.
18. I think my ER15s got lost at a gig on Saturday night I'm fuming :/
19. soundguy doesn't listen tone is bad, onstage monitoring volume is bad (not my cab) DI signal sounds weak crowd left nonplussed by our (unusually, if I'm honest) bad show
20. If its a good price, do it. Could do awesome things with that
21.
digging the new tune chris whos doing the backing vocals?
Ta duck The backing in that bit is Luke, but we're all on the new tracks at one point or another!
22. 1212L. Smaller and same footprint as the cab I already have. The only soundclip I have at the moment is the 'sneaky peek' track on www.myspace.com/maeslostempire. The others weren't recorded through the Schroeder. However, it is a slightly misleading clip. There is actually a clean DI'd signal blended with the Schroeder pumping out full on distortion. So not the best way to judge it perhaps. I don't have any clips of it solo'd. The amp head makes more of a difference on the sound of it than the cab itself anyway.
23. Actually, by then, chances are I'll have two.
24. Depends how long you can wait, but we're coming back through Grimsby in July if you want a closer to listen to my 1212L.
