Heads Up!!! Sennheiser G3 wireless released today
Finbar replied to crez5150's topic in Accessories and Misc
I still prefer the look of the digital units that are starting to peek through rather than the UHF ones. And this is pretty expensive, even if it does have a tuner. -
Uhm, if its a Schroeder cab, put it on its side, and then one of the speakers points up towards you. Taking it off the ground loses loads of bass from your sound anyway.
-
I can't currently afford one in the slightest, but I just had an email through saying that these are weighing in at £434 from the UK supplier in about 3-4 weeks time. And the first few orders seem to be going postage free. Just a heads up.

I know it is effects, but can we class that as a pedalboard in its own right?
-
Took them to Specsavers today and they got sent back no questions asked. Customer Service ++

Hmm. Toughie. I play alternative rock. Its kind of post hardcore, I guess? Maybe? These aren't necessarily the 4 most musical pedals I have, and there are things like my chorus pedal that I leave on all the time but I could play without. But if I was to say that our set would go badly without 4 of my pedals, I would probably go with: Clean boost - tapping needs moar to cut through sometimes Whammy pedal - we use the harmony functions a lot Distortion - chords sound poopty clean Looper - we make noise. Probably not what most people would go for.
Has Mr Shuker got anything better than that ratty old Trace Commando for his clients to try their new aquisitions out yet? It's been 18 months since I saw him and I said , tactfully , that folk coming for a trial of his stock basses are less likely to be impressed hearing the sound through that pretty inadequate practise amp.
In response to that - last time I was there he had a Neo Mark Bass 210 combo there. I seem to remember him saying it was Rob's though, so it may not live there permanently. That was when I picked up my bass though, when he was still in Sheffield.

Yeah. I just gave it another go after giving them a clean and one of the filters still pops out I'll take it back, but I don't have the receipt, so I may well be stuffed?

I'm really interested in this. My Sennheiser wireless has packed in, and I need a new one. It looks pretty small, so it will fit on my pedalboard nicely, and I can leave the transmitter plugged in to charge at practices where I use a normal lead, so I should never have to worry about batteries for it. The fact that it is outside the range of frequencies that are being sold off is also a huge plus, as is the fact it runs off 9v DC - I currently have an extra 12v power supply on my board just for my wireless and that's just no good. I'm not too fussed about this compander stuff - I was happy with the tone I was getting from the Sennheiser to be honest. But I guess that's a plus too. However, there must be downsides? Apart from the price, obviously - but I'll pay good money for good kit. I'm not keen on the bug design, but I'd be willing to employ my old friend gaffer tape to help out on that one. The main thing that's bugging me is the 'line of sight' it keeps mentioning. How extreme does that get? I don't want to have no signal when the transmitter and receiver can't 'see' each other. That would be a BAD thing. That's the main thing I want to know about really before it tentatively goes on my shopping list. Anyone got any clue on that?

The filters have started coming out of my ER15s. I'm not a happy bunny. They get very loose then pop out. I'm scared to even use them incase I lose a filter tbh

Sounds promising I'm hoping that I'll be okay with them I've had some that refuse just to mic the cab at all. We only have one guitar though, so I can't see why it would be more work than simply mic'ing a second guitar amp for a different band setup really. I'm getting quite giddy about this rig already though.

Photos can lie. The camera might not have picked the gloss up?
The 57 is nice too, although you won't get as much hefty low end out of it, you could have them blend it with a DI. You'll have to find a very friendly soundman who'll give up two whole channels just for the bassist though!!
That's my plan, haha. I'll be running my effects into one cab (mic'd), and a clean(ish) tone into a second cab (DI). They will hate me.

So I like to have my cab mic'd at gigs, but venues rarely have an appropriate microphone for the job really. With the rig I have planned, I'm going to want to be a little more insistent about the mic'ing situation, so I don't want to be met with 'we don't have enough mics for that' or anything else, so I'm really considering buying my own microphone for the job. Could also come in handy for home recording our stuff should we ever get to doing that. Soundguys will probably hate me. But what is the best type of mic to buy for this? I'll be running distortion and other effects through it, and I play a 7 string bass so there's quite a lot of highs going on, but I also don't want it to lose all the lows and make it sound tinny like some mics seem to do to the signal.

And the winner is gaffer tape.

With my old rack case, when I took the front and back off it, the catches came off with them. Now I'm using a smaller Gator one, and I think it is awful design that the catches remain attached to the amp when you remove the front and back of the rack case. When I play, they are vibrating and rattling, and it is really getting irritating. Is there a way to modify it? Or just stop it rattling? D: Dear me

I'm looking for something an awful lot like this actually. Looks pretty neat though, congrats
-
I'd recommend two separate amps too. Or at least a stereo power amp. Are you wanting to run both instruments through the same effects chain?
-
I have my LEDs on a dimmer switch. And for what its worth, I reckon I should have just gone for a simple on/off. I never use them at less than full brightness. And practically, would you really use them on pulse/flash settings?

Superglue is quite brittle though. Epoxy resin would do the job. But you have to be sure you've done it right, because there isn't much room for error with that stuff
