    Hmm, not to rock the boat too much, but I'd say just stick with an electric. When you see live acoustic sets of your favourite musicians, the bass player is still normally plugged in. The acoustic bass can't project the same volumes acoustic guitars can from the same sized body. This is why double basses are big. So I don't think they work for 100% unplugged sessions very well either. And the tones often aren't that great IMO. YMMV, of course.

    Is it any more expensive/troublesome to go through the process of talking to and buying from Jorg direct, as opposed to dealing with Shaun at SHX (who incidentally, I have also found to be superb to deal with)?

    I actually wouldn't mind trying one of these, haha. Infact, I wouldn't mind trying a Deep Impact either. But I never will, because I don't want my wallet to be completely raped over it. I refuse to be ripped off :/

    I actually find 4s hard to play because everything is too BIG compared to a 7. Maybe that's how guitarists feel when they try and play bass? ;p

    I agree with you There's no magic to it, the instruments are designed to be played! Plus, people's hands are always bigger than they think!

    So I'm just getting into some of the Nerve stuff on Youtube. Anyone know where I can get some CDs or something? I'm aware I could google it, but I just want to see if there's anyone on here who's up for a bit of discussion about it too

    I can't slap. I wouldn't mind some proper lessons on it. I hate it because I can't do it, and consequently never use it or think 'some slap would be nice here'. But I'd probably think differently if I was a master of it ;p

    Yeah, but I don't want to carry round more bulk than I have to. I didn't think it'd bug me before I bought the 4u, but if I get rid of that PD, I won't want to have to carry round the extra empty 1u space. Plus even with a blanking plate, the empty space (and therefore temptation to fill it) is still there

    I have a custom 7, and I don't tap out piano music... 95% of what I do with my 7 is in the context of a band. If the band is clear about that, then there should be no problems. Its just that there aren't many bands with 7+ strings to act as a yardstick for what to expect. Element of Surprise did it very nicely IMO. If they start asking you to do guitar solos in the middle of the song, you've probably got guitarists with the wrong end of the stick ¬_¬

    Drum machine. Can play more than any drummer can, and never effs up. Means you have to be up to scratch though

    And give me the 9? Sure Hah, maybe you should just try and find one good drummer, and do a drum/bass duo That could be pretty awesome! If my band ever splits up, I'd be really tempted. It would REALLY push me, but it could be great fun Much easier band dynamic, better money split, less petrol spent... Its quite appealing!

    And IME, don't shy away from the fact you play an ERB in auditions. Be honest about it. I've found its a selling point more often than not. It'll set you apart from any other people auditioning. Sometimes for the wrong reasons, sometimes for the right ones.

    Yeah, I have one of these sitting in my cupboard, and it is absolutely stunning for the size! Surprisingly loud and has some very nice sounds, for a huge variety of styles. With all this glowing endorsement from people here, you should be getting plenty of biters! This amp is a steal at £150 guys!

    Okay, so I recently put together my rack - it has a lovely Ampeg/QSC setup in it, and I'm happy as pie with it. I bought a 4u rack case from someone on here, thinking it would give me room to grow (the pre/poweramp only takes up 3u). But really... why do I need to grow? I don't need any fancy rack gadgets - all my tuners, compressors and effects are in pedal form, and if I ever change pre/power amp in this setup, I'd be looking to downsize to a 1u power amp, if anything. True to form, I bought something basically just to fill in the extra space! So yeah, I bought a Samson PB11 Powerbrite Power Conditioner off Dan_Nailed on this forum about 3 weeks ago. To be honest, I haven't even plugged it in or even racked it! It is a bit overkill having 10 IEC sockets and a light when I only have two things in my rack tbh. It was GAS for a light basically! £50 posted? Justabout gets back what I paid for it, and then I can buy some new pedals instead! Chuck in the leads Dan gave me as well. And as already mentioned, I have a 4u Boschma rack case. No pictures at the moment, but looks like this... To stop me hulking round a case that I don't need, and to reduce the future buying of rack gadgets (it is always so tempting to fill up the space!), I'm looking to do a straight swap for any other 3u rack case. Not looking for a flightcase, or a rack bag, just an ABS plastic one. Gator/Boschma etc. Alternatively, I'll sell for what I paid for it - £70. So if there's anyone out there with a large-ish rack which needs powering/illuminating or has a 2/3u rack that needs enlarging to fit more stuff into, then drop me a line! Cheers, Chris
