1. Ta duck, got them today
2. Slight rant... Hah. Bought 2 Duracells for my Conklin thinking they would last me a while... They didn't fit the battery cavity D: Was reight annoyed. So I tried using them in my wireless (not all wasted money) and they both lasted about 5 seconds. I was having a serious case of WTF, and I've had some cheapy no-name batteries in for 6 months now, going strong. Grr.
3. I like the way it looks, but not enough to buy it. I wouldn't play it live. To me, that's the point in a doubleneck - live use so you don't have to switch. I'd regard that as a work of art, but not something I'd pay Bill Conklin £5000 for.
4. Not sure exactly when I'm picking it up. Jon said he hopes to have it finished this weekend, but I'm just waiting for the word from him really. Could be anyday! Not sure what I'm doing next Weekend, but I do think I'll be away Sunday, and probably checking out Steff's new studio on the Saturday afternoon. I'm sure I can fit something in BTW, even if you rough up the plate and paint it, the paint will probably wear off... The white plate doesn't look too bad as it is IMO. I think i'd stay away from gold myself.
5. Excuse my stupidity... That scratchplate looks like it fits, where does the problem lie? Also, I do hope you have some knobs for it? Other than that, it is looking nice I was dubious about the paint, but it looks pretty groovy ^_^ Nice one!
6. Hah, oh dear. I feel like I have stuff that is better than I deserve... But it is just my treat for me, y'know? I enjoy doing it. And as long as I carry on not being snobbish about anyone else's gear, I hope nobody will think I'm a poser Apparently the old bassist from New Model Army (forgot his name - how bad is that!? Stuart Morrow?) plays a very cheap Tanglewood with one of those rubbish thin leads you get when you buy a beginner guitar. Weird for someone like him, I thought!
7. Ibanez bass is now sold. Conklin is still here and still fab
8. Thanks man - it really is underrated, I feel! But yes, another bumps.
9. Still waiting for mine in the post. It shipped yesterday, so shouldn't be too long. I know Be Water My Friend is on his myspace, but I don't want to listen to it until i have the CD. I've heard the first few seconds though and it is saweet.

Loopers...

Headrush for looping with an undo feature. Line 6 DL4 for the 'play once' feature. IMO. Depends what you want out of it. The play once isn't strictly necessary at all, in which case the Headrush is affordable and good.
11. Jon said end of this week, now he's said should be finished this weekend... Whenever it finally gets done, this thing is very nearly in my hands!
12. Shouldn't imagine he'd object if I take a snap on someone's request though. If you want to be surprised though, I might just not take any for you!
13.
What do you use the trem for that you can't do already without frets?
Having an assload of fun, is my guess
14. Yes, I heard that too - I thought he was fairly busy when he said he had about a dozen on, but he seems busier recently - the workshop is full of half finished things! Great news on the progress too I should be picking up my very own beast in the next few days I hope (anyone else due a baby Shuker?), so if I see the Diddle (or whatever it is ) lying around, I'll grab a couple of snaps for you
15. Sheffield is pretty central, it is like the perfect place for an amp to be ;p
16. Yeah, the mp3s aren't available yet. I went with the CD mostly for that reason, but also because I like hard copies I don't think his writing needs much development, but then (oddly for me listening to a bass player), I don't listen to his music for what he's doing bass-wise or composition-wise, I just enjoy the flow of his music. Definitely one of my 'heroes' of the instrument though. Can't wait to hear it!
17. Jean's solo CD 'Solace', which he's been promising for nearly as long as I've known of him, is actually out now. He seems to have kept it quite low key, so some of you who dig him might not have known. Just ordered me a copy anyway
18. Bumpizzle. You all love it, right?
19. That GTBD-7 is a looker! What is the top wood? Mine's curly maple I think... yours looks a lot more like a flame or something? And the knobs are different... I didn't know there were two different variations of the bass at all! And may I also say, that Squier looks absolutely pimped out. Love the massive trem bridge!
20. I'd be half tempted to buy the Hyperpak anyway if you don't end up finding a trade ;p
21. Mic stands. I hate them. I always end up hitting them with my bass. Pain in the bum. Grr.
22. Bump! Been quite a bit of interest in the Conklin, but nothing solid yet. There's always room for more offers But it isn't being held for anyone - first person to lay down a firm offer will get it!
23. Awesome. That's good to know. I'll be fine with my regular case for now, but if I ever find myself needing a flightcase for the bass, I'll keep them on my list of options
24. I've found these to cope quite badly with gigs or long periods of use in my experience. The volume hasn't coped, and the sound has compromised as a result. Lots of other people have had much better experiences with them though, so maybe it was just the ones I've used. I'd imagine an extension cab would help it out a lot.
25. That looks great I take it you had to go down to where they're based for them to get the shape of the foam cutout right?
