1. Okay, bumping this. Ibanez has now been fixed so that the mid frequency/mid stacked knob doesn't wobble anymore. Also put the mid knob back on the Conklin
2. Justin Chancellor on 10000 Days. Jambi has sexy tone. And Josh, good call on Sam Rivers and Tye Zamora ^_^
3. Bumps If only this was an Ampeg so everyone creamed over it unnecessarily...
4. Le bumple. Had a few trade offers on both basses, but I'm really not wanting to go down that route.
5. I guess I'm lucky in that the guitarist in my band is actually a 7 string bassist himself! We met coincidentally, and he said he preferred guitar, so off we went! Although yes, I'm still holding down 'regular' bass parts most of the time, because a lot of the time I think it sounds better!
6. The piece was an Element of Surprise song I was learning, bit of the old Jean Baudin... But yes, I also have free range in my band Don't go too mental, but I'm free to should I wish it Are you using your ERBs in a band situation?
7. I know what you mean on the leap from 7 to 9... I have only ever thought I could do with a 9 once. For learning one song which used the very top and bottom notes on my 7. I really don't think I could do it justice enough. I wish you the best of luck with it
8. You are barking mad, but I look forward to seeing this evolve Bit special this one, ain't it!
9. Sorry to disappoint you, it went quite a while ago Soundcontrol in Sheffield used to have Rays now and then, and the one on City Road has them on occassion. But maybe not for much longer... Electro may not have put the prices up, but I've found them really good for pricematching. And they actually have an interesting range of stuff. I can go in and go 'wow, didn't expect that' when I see a Marcus Miller sig, or a Sandberg or something, as opposed to going to most shops and knowing I'll see the usual Squiers and Schecters.
10. I've had expensive things sneak through, and cheap things get hit. There's no hard and fast rule as far as I can tell, despite what people have said to me. Just depends how lucky you are I think.
11. You do have Electromusic though :/ Sheffield is rubbish for guitar shops.
12. I do see what you're saying. I was very much of the same opinion. I want the Stingray look, but I don't want to cover the wood up. It would be for aesthetics, rather than protection - no bass needs a scratchplate for protection nowadays ¬_¬ I'm really undecided on it :/
13. If you're down in Sheffield on Monday, we're playing at the Grapes www.myspace.com/maeslostempire You said you knew Existend.. Not in the same band, but you might know Rob?
14. Just like the Conklin bass, I'm wanting to sell this off to get a different head now, so all sensible offers are considered. Still no trades, and still pickup only Also considering selling the VBC412 cab with it. The cosmetic condition isn't great, and there are no wheels. But it sounds just as it should. £730 for the lot? Okay, so you know the score with these things, I'm sure. 400w, all valve. Runs at 4 ohms, or 2 ohms. This amp does phat sounds very well, and if you crank the gain up, you will have more power than you will ever need probably. All results in a pretty brutal beast. Selling this so that I can afford a smaller amp basically... I look after my amp head. It has live in a flight case ALL of its life, even at gigs - its one of the cases you can take the top off and use with the amp still in the bottom tray. I am almost OCD about letting it warm up before turning it on, and leaving it to cool before putting it back in the case and transporting it. Due to the excessive volumes it can reach, I've never had to push it past about 3 with the gain at 12 o clock. Basically, it is in tip top nick, except the dust you can see on front on the picture - the fan at the back causes this. Will vaccuum off if it bothers you, I'm sure. The vinyl is all in excellent condition, and it is a happy amp. On the photos, you might notice that there is a strip of velcro on top. This is to secure a DI box. I will remove this for the buyer and make sure there is no sticky residue Selling the amp with the full flightcase. That's worth £150-200 alone depending on where you buy it from. I'll chuck in a kettle lead and speaker lead too ;p Oh, and go on, you can also have the manual Sorry about picture quality :/ They looked good on a 1"x2" screen, but not so much when you blow them up Looking for £600 for this. Collection only from Sheffield. Really not looking for trades, sorry. Ta Couple more here: http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j120/Dis...nd/DSC00222.jpg http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j120/Dis...nd/DSC00224.jpg
15. Those castle cases look quite cheap for the amp cases! Mighy have to look into them for when I get my Hiwatt
16. Yeh, I can hardly wait Monday would be awesome, as I have a gig that night. I have a feeling we'll mis that date though. Especally seeing as I've just been talking to Jon and he's said he'll knock a scratchplate up. So that'll put it back a bit. Ah well
17. Right, well Jon said apparently it will be 'case style' on the front, and he's going to sign it on the back. So there you go! Anyway, here's my latest thoughts. Jon has maintained through the rest of the build that the scratchplate is a possibility, and we wouldn't commit to it, but would do a mock up near the end of the build, and if all went well we'd use some flame maple for it. However, I had gone off the idea by this point. But I just saw that fretless stingray with the status neck in the for sale section, and it has made me debate sticking on a clear scratchplate. I know I poo-pooed the idea on the first page of the thread, but I'm coming round to it. Can't quite decide though It is the main link to the Stingray design for me, but I won't know if it needs it until after I've seen it all strung up and everything. The clear one wouldn't obscure anything, and wouldn't necessarily be really in your face, but it would be a definite reminder of the stingray 5 design. Might look something like this. Excuse my Paint skills What do y'all think? :/ Anyway, regardless of scratchplate, there's a possibility I could be picking this up as early as Monday D:
18. I was admiring that glowy blue pedalboard the other day It does look ace, but I couldn't lay down that much money on one of those. Even if it isn't an expensive glowy blue one, it is still expensive! If I have problems outgrowing my Diago, I don't know what I'm going to do. I don't think I'm skilled enough to make my own board, as much as I want to. The Spider ones aren't as big as the Diago, and I don't think the Pedaltrain Pro is either.
19. Really depends what you'd want to trade, but I'd be 95% sure I'd rather have cash :/ Like I say - amp fund!
20. And chrome wouldn't draw the eyes from the finish? Luls. Meh, chrome is garish and tacky IMO. I don't really like it on hardware in general. I think it is way too much for a full on large scratchplate.
21. If a job's worth doing, it's worth doing well. Fill the holes and repaint over the areas it leaves. Though for me, to be honest, that would be a white scratchplate. Leave chrome alone ;p
22. You guys have pretty much confirmed what I reckoned. I'd rather get a better, smaller amp than get something like an attenuator. I just need to shift my amp and basses onto people now to afford it!
23. BUMP for new pics (though I'm a rubbish photographer )
