Into the lion's mouth...
-
To be fair, any 12 year olds hanging around the TOTP studios back in the day probably didn't get much chance to discuss pop music either, due to too much porn on a whole nother level
-
These look great and I can't wait to upgrade from my V3 500 combo. I'm all about convenience these days & if I can ditch my B3 & a cable or two I'll be very happy. Do wish they'd kept the silver grille tho

No way! Some of us spectators are just cracking the popcorn out here

Agh! National Express have cancelled my service from Cardiff, all the trains are cancelled & me car's off the road so no way I'm making it. Gutted. Have a good one tho folks!
-
4 hour odd trip from Cardiff. I'll give em a ring to clarify I think.

They've got stuff about charging for luggage over 85cm in length & paying an extra tenner...I need to read their T&C's properly but there's no way it's going in the hold, even hard cased. Gonna turn up nice & early & sort something out with the driver.

I know, when the I pulled the tickets out of the envelope I was proper confused for a minute, thought we were off to a gay pride march! Then the penny dropped & everything made sense. Cheers Ped, that's great info. I shall bring both old girls along (my bass & my missus who got me the tickets as a birthday prezzie).

...like for the setup classes or anything else? Wondering if it's worth paying the extra luggage charge with National Express. It's me first LGBS.

Gold star if you managed to get your drummer to chip in too... With ours it's plonk your gear all over the stage > set up kit > play annoyingly & incessantly while everyone else sets everything else up > zoom to the bar immediately after sound check while everyone else clears up cases etc > moan on the rare occasion he's paid to take the PA home & no one seems to want to help strip it down.
-
Yup, get there slightly earlier than you're meant to & do the best you can in the time you've got. If your desk is digital & someone's got wireless to go out & check levels, you're golden. Leave someone to work the mics if you get asked to put speeches thru em. & if the speeches start going on too long, chuck a sneaky ring mod on the vocal channel to give everyone a good laugh & bring things to a close so you can get playing & get finished.

Was it good?

Cheers G-Dog! Dunno if this actually fixes the master vol affecting the DI vol tho. Be good to see schematics when they're available.

Ooh that looks interesting. Anyone found any news other than the shop sites? Nothing on the (rubbish) Fender site If the fx are good quality i.e. at least equal to my B3 I'll have probably have one. With a bit of luck they'll have sorted the stupid DI volume change issue which the V3's suffer from as well. Wish they'd kept the silver grilles mind.

Softening your opinion towards the nice blokes

Iggy Pop forever struck me as a total Richard. Watched a bio on him recently & got the impression he's been having a laugh for the last 40 odd years & he's enjoyed it. He looked happy & you couldn't help warming to him. Top guy. -
+1 for these So good, neat form factor and great sound. We've got three. Job done.

Let's hear all your own Basschat Rig Rundowns.

Gigging basses - Fender MIA Deluxe Jazz V & Squier VM J5 with East J-Tone & Fender USA pups Strings - D'addario Nickel EXL165s on the Fender, Labella 760FS flats on the Squier Effects - Zoom B3 powered by Harley Benton Power Bank Amps - Fender Rumble 500 V3 or Genz ShuttleMax 12.2 into Genz FCS210T (customised with silver grille cloth as shown below) Stands - Double guitar stand by K&M, Stagg folding job for the Genz to raise it up. I've stuck a pair of AmpLegs Screwless Tilt Backs on the Rumble, great product https://reverb.com/uk/item/2256372-amplegs-screwless-tilt-back-legs-fits-all-combo-amps. Leads - always used to be Planet Waves but after going through a load (despite careful handling) I'm now using two no-namers I've acquired from god knows where & have to say they're rock solid. -
Eh? Missed that, links?

Really?? Is there a sliding scale the younger the victim is? Wow.

A couple of people have mentioned Lost Prophets being beyond the pale...genuinely wonder what the difference is. Without going into case details too much of course.

It's a toughie...I always enjoyed Michael Jackson's stuff (the big 3 albums anyway, Off the Wall, Thriller, Bad) not to mention playing it. PYT is one of his best tracks IMO, but when I hear it these days, it's soured. It's pretty overt, just the title alone. So much so that I probably wouldn't actively put it on to listen to myself. It's not a contrived reaction or anything, more of a natural repugnance that has developed unconsciously. To his music I mean, not to what he almost definitely got up to, cos it goes without saying that that's just above-ground repulsion. But I wouldn't castigate anyone for listening to him, I don't see it as a reflection on them in the slightest.
