  1. That's looking great!
  2. Yes, that's right - just a way to create a rebate for the connectors to be fitted to, but one of these http://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?id=TUFF8708BLK or similar will remove the need for it.
  3. What @Chienmortbb and @Phil Starr said!
  4. Blimey!
  5. No, it's actually a non-neo driver - I don't know the exact driver - though he did say it's a discontinued driver (it's not a Beyma) so it's kind of academic. 4" voice coil on it though - a real beast.
  6. At the moment I am borrowing a cab From Stevie - it is a tweaked version of the Basschat 112 - the driver in it is stupendous. I used to have a GK NEOX 212. I reckon this 1x12 could keep up with it. Played a pub gig with it a couple of weeks ago and had my amp (Genzler Magellan 800) on about 9 o'clock - PA was only for vox and guitars. It has made me realise that I very much doubt I need more than a similarly potent 1x12!
  7. ....I should also say it handled a bottom A# with ease (I was tuned in C drop A# for one song)
  8. Well, the loaner cab turned out to be a total stonker! @stevie sent me a spare BC112 "development" cab and it did a fantastic job. I'll let Stevie comment further on it if he chooses to, but I can't imagine needing more than one of these little beasties, particularly with the fitted driver. Here's a bit of video of it in action.... Creep https://www.facebook.com/HighStreetNewhaven/videos/752244816220218 Alive https://www.facebook.com/HighStreetNewhaven/videos/5103234413125732 ...note me spotting I was still in Drop D 🙄 proves I could hear myself OK 🤣
  9. Ahh - found it now - blimey, Marketplace is strange to search. I think I am sorted though, a certain person of this parish has offered me a loaner cab - all will be revealed shortly!
  10. Hmmm - can't find either of those - found a WCA 211 pro for £120 but that will weigh a ton! There's a chap in Burgess Hill selling what was a Warwick CCL but without the amp (has a pitchblack pro in it at the moment), tarted up with fender grillcloth etc. He's actually sold the korg, but not sure whether £120 or so for an unknown 1x12 is sensible....
  11. Cheers - my daughter lives in Lytham, and in fact is visiting us at the moment, but not sure she would have appreciated dragging that down on the train as well as the baby 😄
  12. On eBay there's a 102P for sale in Lancing, but it's up for £350 + £15 shipping (would cost a bit to drive over to collect!) - and Andertons have them new for £389!
  13. Yes, I did the sound for a gig using one of those, and I seem to remember it needed a lot of PA support.
  14. Cheap options needed really, as I will be selling it on in a couple of months time. Been looking for secondhand stuff, but the Markbass 102Ps etc all seem to go for £350+ - not that far off new price. Other secondhand stuff is miles away from me (Lewes, East Sussex) - so not too many options. Only ones being an Ampeg SVT210AV and a little 150W Ashdown vs112 - both of which are probably a bit underpowered maybe? Only need it to cover a couple of gigs until my "proper" cabs are ready.... So, new options that I might not lose too much money one that come to mind are: Ashdown RM-112T-EVO II GK NEO 112-II Markbass Traveler 121H? Markbass Traveler 102P? Any other ideas? Or could I get away with that Ampeg.... I'm wondering if it could with a bit of PA support...
  15. If I may share some experience of my garden "studio" build.... We took a solidly constructed garage style outbuilding, and used "acoustic" grade rockwool (RW3 or RWA45, can't remember which) - it is heavier than the standard stuff. We then built a room within a room using 4"x2" and used the same rockwool within that (1" air gap between walls), then lined with double layers of plasterboard with green glue between. We also used acoustic double glazed units - but I suspect adding secondary glazing would be beneficial. I would try at least to pay attention to preventing air leakage - good door seals etc, as it is surprising how even small gaps let noise out - cymbals cut through the smallest gaps! We took care to include airflow, with air in and out via a "silwnt" fan through a long wiggly insulation lined hose to cut noise egress. Anything you can do at this stage to improve things - even if you don't go nuts with double walls etc - will be worthwhile. So do consider hefty insulation etc....
  16. Hi, thanks for that - I have adjusted the drawings to take account of this - I'll pop Stevie a revised version he can upload to the thread - does this look better?
  17. I'm sure he could, but I happen to know he is very busy with custom builds at the moment, so the turnaround time is likely to be pretty long.
  18. Yes, I think it is a good idea to try and have "clean" threads with the drawings, parts lists and pics etc, as the current ones have got very lengthy, and are interwoven with various builds etc.
  19. Although not the same as this build, there is a 1x10 build thread with drawings etc here The drawings can be found here
  20. Yes, the Fender style cloths shrink when heated (be careful to not get too excited with a heat gun though, as they will melt!). Key is to fit it as tightly as you can then heat gently and evenly so the weave stays aligned nicely.
  21. Bought a Magellan 800 from Dave - excellent to deal with, very helpul.
  22. ....and given the size of the cab, I can't see the battens adding much more than a few ounces....
  23. All done, finally. Kept going with the oil, then finished with a few coats of renaissance wax. I added indicators to the wooden knobs with a bit of cocktail stick. The guitarist had given me some Seymour Duncans to install in place of the original PRS pickups, so had to re-jig the wiring, but that went OK - the single coil settings on the push/pull knob sound decent, and the volume is pretty even whichever pickup(s) are selected, so job done!
  24. ....so faux pickups that can't be seen - genius! 🤣
