Can you do anything with the pickups - maybe spray them white? I think the gold might better without the "bulk" of the black pickups right next to it. Though I know that's only a render and it's hard to picture it correctly.

I think the OP was talking about the Combo 450. As far as I understnad, the amp can slide out of the combo, so you lose nothing in the flexibility stakes.

I imagine this is a valve amp we're talking about.

Synth access jobbie fitted with the roland undersaddle pickups, as well as the usual piezo thingys. Now strung with Galli black tapewounds Pretty much immaculate bar a tiny 1/8" blemish that I'll take a pic of at some point. Comes with original fitted Godin gig bag plus case candy and original strings (should you like cheesgrating your fingers). It's pretty much as new (and a new one'll set you back £1100). £675 + shipping. [SOLD 19th July 2010] Also available is a Roland GR20 with cable and manual, £250 + shipping. I'll do both of them for £900 shipped (with insurance) in the UK.

Plenty of sources for grill cloth US http://www.torresamps.com/grill_cloth.htm http://www.mojotone.com/amp-parts/Grillcloth Europe http://www.tubeampdoctor.com/index.php?cPath=25 http://www.tube-town.net/ttstore/index.php...Grillcloth.html

Nifty little fold flat velcro chappy you can keep in your gig bag, and use to angle your cab up for improved monitoring. Markbass page Brilliant idea - unless of course you've never owned a bass cab either A - covered in carpet rather than gold lame or tolex. or B - possessing the ability to keep the head on top so it doesn't slide off as soon as it's tilted back. This lovingly crafted accessory will IMMEDIATELY endow you with a range of wonderous "life enhancements", including:

A rich and benevolent uncle
All your bass cabinets will halve in weight, while also playing AT LEAST one octave lower
An invitation for you and your band to headline the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury 2011 with your choice of a: Kylie or b: Johnny Depp performing naked as part of your backing group*
Cheapest I can find this is £25 + delivery, so shall we say £20 delivered in the UK? * Please note that effects may vary, and you in fact just end up with terminal flatulence. Or worse.
If you really need a 4ohm / 8 ohm option, you'd could go with switchable option of one one speaker out of circuit (8 ohms) and both speakers in circuit (4 ohms). OTOH, if your amp has two speaker outputs and supports 4/8 ohms, you could always wire the speakers in 'stereo' - ie two jack sockets on the cab. All sounds a bit fiddly to me, but hey, let's push the envelope.
Whacky alternative wiring - I put three switched jacks on the back of my 2x12, and wired them so if you use the centre jack is runs both drivers in parallel for 4 ohms, and each of the other two sockets just connect to a single driver, so it can be sued by two people if needed.

Are you talking active speakers here, or do you have power amps etc? Do you already have a mixing desk?
-
To be perfectly honest I'd be very tempted to buy one of these A 2x12 cab made from 16mm ply, loaded with a pair of Celestion Vintage 30s. The two speakers on their own are going to set you back £158, and Thomann sell the whole thing for £152. Back to the DIY route, I built a 2x12 open back cab with Eminence Private Jack (aka Greenback) and Govenor (aka V30). Our guitarist uses it with a Crate Powerblock - works very well.

SORTED! Where's a good place to get a custom body in the UK?
RichardH replied to xilddx's topic in Bass Guitars
Mike Walsh of Iceni/Purple Chili could be worth chatting to - best to give him a ring and see what he suggests. No idea of what sort of cost you're talking though, but I'm sure he'd be happy to do an unfinished body. -
P.S. Here's my L2K.

Lovley L1K there Outshined. I'm still kicking myself I didn't stock up when they were going for $500 and it was $2 to the £
What do the toggles do then anyway?
Darn! I was all out to send you to this link (now defunct) that had a nice interactive flash thing where you could flick the switches and hear the differences in sound.
1991 G & L L2000 in excellent condition. Last year of the Made in USA models i think?
No, they are still made in the US - it's just that the Tribute range was introduced that are made in the Far East as the "Squier" equivalent - but they are fantastic quality as well - same pickups as the US models. Nice black crinkle bridge on yours!
Then again, you're almost in the proximity of an Iceni Funkmeister. Just got a fretless one with the aero pickups & it's a serious super jazz.
I know that Mike Walsh has a few pre built bodies and necks "in stock" at the moment, and was offering some good deals on basses built using these stock parts. I'm not sure he has any Aero pickups at present though. Cool pic of Sir Norman of Watt-Roy playing a Funky However, I can only agree with the comments above - go out and play some!

Sounds like some DNS related problems that only affects some DNS servers.

I got mine from ProAudioStar too - is fine. However, if there were any warranty issues TC won't cover it over here - you would have to send it back to the US.
