I have been using this as a clean DI for the last couple of years, so it could be ideal for anybody requiring a top-level DI box but don't use floor pedals with EQs and overdrives, just to give that option. I've always used phantom power and it's always been noiseless. It works great with an electro acoustic bass too. Hi - can the Sadowsky DI be powered by phantom? Their website is currently down so I couldn't find any info. Also, how is it for battery life? Cheers

'79 Stingray Fretless basses are so rare and so special, so even with the strange mod at the top of the fingerboard, I think this is an incredibly reasonable asking price! Good luck with the sale/trade

[/quote] In terms of power, I've never had to think about it because they both have an incredible headroom threshold. So unlike previous amps I've owned where I've adapted the eq to 'push' certain notes out, whilst compromising others, on both 800 models I can set any tone combination at any volume. Tonally, they're both very different. The LM Tube 800 has a low-mid immediacy, whereas the TTE 800 has a softer vintage vibe. I've used the TTE with the 4x8, but also two 1x12s and lately the big MB 4x10. I thought the 1x12s would be the best compatibility being a vintage vibe like a Bassman or old SVT, but I found that I couldn't get the tightest low notes. The 4x8 was the better combination because my 4x10 is 4ohm so I barely get the master volume past 10 o'clock without front of house telling me to reduce my stage volume! It's very quick to get a tone together. Fantastic with flatwounds too
