    I was watching a similar repair to the truss rod 'escaping' from the back of a guitar on YouTube the other day where the repairer used fibreglass resin and silk sheets (because they are so thin and strong) to stop it happening again. The only issue there though is that it had to be painted to cover all the patches. Watching this with interest.

    I've got two Maru's at just over 3kg so already know the website. Absolutely wonderful basses, but lightweight is the way to go for me nowadays.

    There's a Maruszczyk Elwood 5 on eBay for £499 at the moment. About 1/4 of what it was new. I'd have it if I didn't have two already.

    Bought a couple of years ago, then I swapped over to 5 string basses, so it never got used live. Comes with power supply.     Just bought my youngest daughter a new short scale SX precision for £150 including gigbag. Cannot fault it in any way whatsoever, so cannot see why their long scale would be any different.

    Deep Purple - Brighton Centre mid 1980's. Absolutely no (positive) chemistry going on at all. Ritchie Blackmore and Ian Gillan going through the motions and loathing every minute. I lasted about 5 songs. Joe Bonamassa - Hammersmith Odeon (or whatever it's called nowadays) about 8 years ago. The bass drum was so loud that my friend and I felt physically sick and left after 3 songs.

    My youngest daughter is starting to play bass so I'm looking for a good quality, passive bass for her to learn on, but as she's of a 'slight' build can I ask how much it weighs?

    I bought this a few months ago, and love it (it's my third Starbass) but I've come to the end of my GAS. I just don't need it, and it's not going to be played as much as my other basses, even though I think it's absolutely stunning, so I'm of the opinion that it should go to someone who will play it regularly. Since buying it I've had the 'f' holes professionally stripped and sealed to match the binding (at a cost of £150) and changed the knobs to official Warwick metal ones instead of the plastic ones it came with (I'll include those too). It still has the Warwick strap locks and comes with a Hiscox hard case.

    I've the biggest roof box Halfords sell and my db fits perfectly, except I can't shut it as the bridge is an inch too high (and I'm not cutting a hole in a £250 roof box just for that).

    I forgot, I had a Bubinga German one too. Apart from the fancy woodwork I couldn't tell any difference from the Korean versions (and I was afraid to take it out in case I dented it and knocked a couple of £k off the price).

    You could be right. I’m not even sure why I’m looking. I’ve got two gorgeous Maruszcyck Jake V’s (a P/J and a P/MM) and a Warwick Starbass Pro V, plus a double bass. I think it’s wanting to have that ‘Rawk’ look whilst I can still stand without a Zimmer frame.

    And if that didn't work i.e. an onboard preamp was needed, I'd need a new set of passive T bird pickups (which would be £460 from Bass Direct - more than the bass costs).
