2001 Fender USA Standard Jazz V 5 string with Fender hard case. In almost perfect condition - only a few minor superficial marks that can't be picked up on camera. Looks like almost new. One of the catches on the Fender hard case has been broken off but the rest work perfectly. Weighs only about 8 1/2 lbs It's had new DR Sunbeams which have only been gigged once

It does - I’ve emailed Phil Jones and they say the 8 ohm C8 goes with a BG400. I just wondered if it was worth the extra £300 to get the C8 over a C4. By the sound of it, it is.
-
Thanks for that, though the C8 can be had as an 8 ohm or 4 ohm, so it’s the 8 I’d have to get to run with a BG400

I've just gone and got myself a Phil Jones Compact Suitcase BG-400 and am so impressed I've just sold all my Markbass stuff, so the PJ setup will cover both my electric band and my double bass band. My question here is, which cab? The C4 will take me up to 500w. The C8 will go to 575w. Both are small in size, but the C4 1/2 the size and the price of the C8, and what's the Piranha version of the C8? Is there a dramatic difference in volume/sound between the cabs? I'm not always in a situation where decent FOH is available, and our drummer is quite loud. Do the extra 75w really make a difference? and apart from price, what's the difference between the C8 standard and C8 Piranha (I've looked online and am none the wiser) Help.

400w at 8ohm. Used but not abused. I'd prefer pickup but I can post (but obviously would rather not). I'm doing the university checkout with my daughter over the next couple of months so may be able to meet up if we are visiting your part of the world, otherwise we could meet up somewhere mutually convenient or post at cost.

Ok, I play my electric bass (function band) through a MB LM3 with 121 and 151 cabs. I have also just got a PJ Compact suitcase BG400, that is 300w internal or 500w with a C4 cab or 575w with a C8 cab, for my instrumental double bass band. I love the compactness of the Phil Jones stuff so was wondering whether I could get rid of the MB amp/cabs totally, get myself a PJ extension cab and that would cover both bands. Has anyone used the Phil Jones setup in an electric situation? Even though we are a function band we can get quite loud and rocky in certain situations, so it’s got to be able to rock as well as pop.

When Joe B was playing the Hammersmith Apollo (or whatever it's called nowadays) a few years ago, my drummer friend and I looked at one another (we couldn't speak and hear as it was too loud) and left after two songs. It was so loud we were almost physically sick. I wont go and see him again.

My problem is that I've just bought a 1989 Fender Japan HM Bass V (HM stands for Heavy Metal) - sort of a 5 string super Jazz with 3 Jazz pickups and slightly Strat shaped - so even though I love this Jazz I might be selling it soon as it looks so staid and boring next to my bright green AV basses PJV and the Fender HM bass V (which has been stripped but will be repainted Ferrari red). Ignore that - It was coming from the USA and the CITES laws are stopping it being posted

My wife and daughters make Christmas bunting out of sheet music they buy in charity shops. They cut it into hearts and holly shapes and hang them on a piece of string. Looks lovely.

I meant the bass version like these https://www.drstrings.com/bass-ddt

Try these: https://www.drstrings.com/electric-ddt Don't know if they do 6 strings but they definitely do 5'ers

Watching as I love a semi hollow.

The only problem is that everyone will ask you why you have a tennis ball stuffed there Actually, I might just stain mine dark brown or black so I don't keep getting asked that.
-
I've wedged a tennis ball between the tailpiece and the body. Cuts down the vibration and feedback from the the top of the body beautifully. Cost nothing and totally reversible.

I’ve only seen 10 or 11 lb ones too so this one was a real find. I wouldn’t have bought it if it had weighed any more

I was never a massive fan of Motorhead but Lemmy dying absolutely hit me. It was one of those things that after a nuclear war, the only things surviving would be cockroaches, Keith Richards and Lemmy. He wasn't supposed to go. -
I thought that for over 40 years but have succumbed.

Totally agree - I bought the AV Basses PJ5 because of its bright bright bright green paintwork. Nahhhh. Don't like anything with batteries onboard (and definitely not LED's - urggggghhhhhhh) I was thinking that, but then the whole bass will become invisible. Think I'll leave it 'stock' (the first time ever I've ever not 'improved' a design that people far more knowledgable than me had missed out doing when designing it).
