1. Apparently so, although I've heard both and can't tell much difference
2. Stick some clips on YouTube
3. And it was set up a bit wrong too!
4.
The Natural ones just don't seem to reach the higher values, at the moment - sounds and feels the same. Hey Ho.
I've noticed that too - odd really!
5.
Personally I played one of these, bloody heavy but a savage tone. They play really nice too.
That was my T-40, wasn't it? Sounded marvellous through your rig
6. Nostalgia (with some good riffs)...
7.
If you use an unmarked board, get one where the side markers are where the frets would be, not between the fret positions. Or you can move the markers or get a luthier to do it.
But bear in mind that that set-up is a matter of preference. I prefer my fretlesses to have side markers in the same positions as a fretted bass. Either way, whichever sort you get Citymarnier, if it's unlined or unlined it isn't hard to get the hang of. Just a bit of time and patience as your brain, ears and fingers get used to things. As for tone, it depends on what you want to play - also whether you want to use a plectrum (as I occasionally do). They're like any other bass really, there's no mystique about it - just a bit more care
8. Argh! Don't tempt me Eric! Must resist...
9. I bought some D'Addario Chromes from Mart. Everything arrived spick and span - proper job
10. I've just bought a whole bunch of spare Pyramid flatwounds from Loweringthetone, all of which arrived nice and safe despite the crappy weather!
11. Bloody hell - it went for 600 quid....!
12. You're lucky - all I got on JMB was various wannabes who think 'goth' = Evanescence, and 'punk' = Green Day...
13. I was at Donnington when they were there - funny as f*ck! Still got the t-shirt somewhere...
14. Aha - cheers for that. Shame it's local pick-up only, as I'm quite tempted!
15. Or don't read your ad' and ask if you want to be in a band that's nothing like what you're interested in!
16. Yep, I've had no luck with them either
17. ''Ello Spider...'
18. Ebay link Not heard of this make before but I like the looks of it. Anyone heard of them?
19.
an unlined board is really in the midst of higher end basses...
Hmm - is that really true? I wouldn't say so. My first unlined fretless was a Kay back in 1989. Unlined boards don't have to equate with an expensive fretless bass.
20. I haven't had problems with the Hercules and my Jazz. The trick seems to be with the rotating arms that you rest the bass on. I keep one straight and the other out to an angle of 45 degrees or so. Seems to work okay.
