1.
I agree, I keep looking at videos that are 2 minutes of fingerstyle then 7 minutes of slapping and most people just don't play that way. Even fewer demos are done with a plectrum.
Yep, that's true. Very few demos show slapping, and playing with fingers and with a plectrum. In fact I can't think of seeing one!
2. Interesting! Similar in various details to my BB414, but with some nice extras! Is the bridge standard?
3.
Putting a Gibson logo on a bass that looks nothing like a Gibson is a good idea. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Matsumoku-Westone-Sp...709543184181872
And adding the word 'rare' - are Spectrum's actually rare?
4. How much for the fretless is they were reinstalled? I'm assuming the new stuff has added to it's value.
5. Do you still have the original bridge and pups for the fretless?
6. They're nice basses. I especially like that translucent green finish!
7. I like black basses - always have. I've tried red, white and sunburst but just don't like the look of any of those. I like green basses if the finish is translucent, but not if the grain underneath is rippled, etc. Wood finishes are also nice but not of they're burled - fine for a table, but not for a bass IMHO
8. If it's more than 5 years old it's 'vintage'...
9. My three black basses - Peavey T-40, MIJ Fender Jazz, and a Yamaha BB414.
10. I think the Peavey T-40 has a few bits of design which are inspired. For example, the way the pups work, and how the neck was created and constructed. Just don't ask me to explain how the pups work - I get them in a practical sense, but writing that all down would end up sounding wrong. If pushed, ask FlatEric or maybe I can copy and paste the relevant text from somewhere
11. It's in very good nick too!

A dub remix

Very very nice! I'd bring the bass a bit more to the fore in the mix, but that's just me
13. With my fretless I aim for somewhere between David J and Glen Campling, just because both of them nailed a variety of fretless tones that I really like. With my other bass there's too many influences to narrow it to one or two.
14.
Wesley FTW!!!
True. I was given one a year or so ago, and it's a nice bass. I just don't like the pointy headstock - and the fact that it was originally pink
15. I keep falling asleep after 5 seconds - is the rest any better...?
16. This isn't anything to do with the Tron remake is it...?
17. MIJ ones are definitely a cheaper - and very nicely built - option. Solidly put together too, if mine's anything to go by after all the abuse it'd been put through by the previous owner
18. Nice! Shame it's a short scale tho'...
