1. They make it in Somerset , which is where I originally hail from, so... er... ah, what the hell - no And at least if you lot aren't any good and I start throwing bottles, Babysham ones won't hurt much
2. David J, Sooyoung Park, Dave Riley, Klaus Fluoride, John Nowlin. For starters anyway...
3. It also depends on the music the band is playing, and whether your playing is given any chance to be heard on it's own.
4. You'll have to buy me at least one pint before I put out though...
5.
That's true, I guess when you're passionate about a particular piece of music you like to think someone else out there ( even in a pub crowd) will be the same and come and say so. But usually not!
Well, there still may be many reasons for that. Put it down to them being too wowed by your playing In general though, people won't always spot nods you make to your musical inspirations. Also take into account that some people aren't even aware of music from the same genre of music that they profess to like!
6. I'm planning on being in the audience, perhaps bringing a few mates too.
7. To be honest, even with me being a bass player I wouldn't have recognised any of the things you played - well, perhaps some of the Iron Maiden stuff, depending on the songs. People's taste is many and varied, which colours what they know or can reference to. And, like others have pointed out, the audience may have not have been able to hear it.
8. Yep - 'Dusk' is also another classic The The album.
9. Yeah, the neck pup looks very similar to the DX's - just a different colour and and angled edge down from the face of the pup to where the screws are. Either way, a very good pup indeed!
10. This MIJ PJ-70 would suit me just fine - if I had the money...
11. Very very nice! Mind if I'm a bit cheeky and ask how much the whole thing cost?
12. I guess you may not be able to see what the original colour was until you take it apart. There may be traces in the electronics wells. If you can't get it back to the original, then I'd agree with Beedster and go for stripping it back to the wood and go for a wax/oil finish.

Hello

Nah - first it was a serialised comic in 'Warrior'. Then it was a colourised graphic novel. Then it was one of the worst films ever made I'll get me anorak...
14.
Love that Thor sound, Oh boy !!
Did the Thor have a similar pup to the Westone Spectrum DX? I ask as I have the latter and it's pup looks very similar to the former's...
15. Satin pewter metallic Squier P bass Specials seem to be more rare than the other varieties in that range - I guess this is due to that fact that only that colour has a matching headstock.

Hello

Math pop and math rock has been around for quite a while now, so those of you feeling old aren't prey to not knowing some 'new' thing HollyDTVGE - have you heard of a math-rock band called V For Vendetta...? Might be your cup of tea.
17. I agree. If the tuners still do the job, keep 'em. If they have a bit of a patina from use, so much the better
18. If you want Fender parts then this site might have what you're looking for: http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/middle_bass.htm
19. After reading all this I'm wondering what particular type of pointy Pro II I bought in 1988. I don't have it any more but a mate of mine may still have it somewhere.
20. You can get complete wiring kits (including pots) for P basses - I think Fender kits would be fine with your Squier. And they don't cost very much at all.

22.
Haha, I have the same view. Some great basslines on the SR stuff though
In the '80s when I went to parties it would be with my goth/punk mates. The shindigs were usually at the houses of mates we had who were more 'trendy'. Undoubtedly banter would start about 'turning off that bloody Huey Lewis crap' etc. until sort of compromise was reached. That compromise was usually - and for some strange reason - OMD. Never figured that one out...
23. What with all the Huey Lewis, Simply Red etc. stuff here I think I may have ended up in some rather bad parties with you lot in the '80s...
24. Bass face...
