1. I know Daz is more interested in a sale, but I fully agree on every point with The groovy-plucker. Interesting point to be aware of when shipping TC Electronic RS cabs. The tweeter is screwed to the back of one of the speakers. Once I had a cab sent back to me with the guy saying one of the speakers is distorting. Could not understand why for ages. What had happened was that the cab had been abused in transit. The weight of the 'piggy back tweeter had been jolted somehow and developed a hairline bend in the rim of the speaker frame. I always take pics of my packaging, stage by stage and it did help me get compensation from Interparcel.
2. I have a similar problem with the E string sounding a bit dull on both my JV and 72 Precisions and I've concluded its the size of the slot in the nut. On my old Encore Precision what I use for home practice, the E string 'rings' like the other three strings, no matter what E string is put on. That includes swapping over the strings that sounded dull on the other two. The E' slot in the nut is slightly bigger on the Encore, so that the string seats in slightly better. However, I'm a bit hesitant to start filing! Perhaps the nuts were NOT made to accept the 105's because they were patterned on original models when strings weren't as thick..don't know about that one.
3. Doesn't help with the sale but I've also got the shallower trace cabs. I found the Ashdown cabs seem constipated in comparison to the cels.
4. Excellent working order. Additional £10 to post
5. Very powerful. 250watts. Valve preamp. Made in UK. etc etc. Truly great classic bass amp made by purely a bass amp manufacturer at the time. The amp was part of a Trace combo but I struggled to carry the combo. So, I cut the woodwork and made a new bottom for the new head. The amp is all original with no issues whatsoever (the valve must be worth a few bob) The amp is easily manageable now and the sale is for the amp head as in the picture. 6. Just found a few example pics of those JV' neck dates I had and sold some time ago
7. Some of you know more than me lads and I've been at it 50 years.
8. No, the neck plate hasn't been changed as far as I'm concerned. Totally original. That's a fantastic bit of detection work. Why should the decal be correct and where did you get this info from? Always understood the JVs were between 82 & 84.
9. I think it was heat treatment. I don't know physically it's done. The truss rod has not been replaced or anything like that. Mike told me at JD you can tension it slightly convex now ( the other way) so it's fully adjusting again.
10. Truss rod now corrected by JD B'ham. I'm now putting the bass and case for sale at £575. It's still far below what other people ask for these superb replicas. I'm passing this recent cost on to the potential buyer.
11. Blxxdy hell! That was mine. Wished I'd been browsing at the time the ad went in. Would love to have bought it back, especially with the sexy lady scratchplate that cost a bomb from USA
12. The same place as the cab Alex
13. Nice. From the man with three ears. One right ear, one left ear and one final frontier.
14. Thanks for your suggestion Wal, Before I started playing bass about 20 years ago, I played lead for about 30 years (pre CBS Strats and all that). In those days we'd use a piece of Woodbine packet for the shimmy. No, I don't think it's enough in this case that's why I've taken it to the experts in Brum - and I'm assured it's gonna be fine!
15. You're right about the unusual pencilled date. I've had and enjoyed many JV's. You'll probably go back and find a couple on the site. Never seen a date like this. Love to hear from someone who's got dating similar. Attached was my once upon a time small collection. I keep going round and round with basses, I'm nuts.
16. The sale of the bass is on hold at the moment. I'm having the truss rod adjustment checked out professionally.

18. Quiet, fully working with the exception of the Graphic and Cut switches. These still operate but not manually, so a home made switch is included for the purpose of switching - I've always left it in Graphic mode anyway so no jack would be necessary. Heavy, but worth it!
19. Ok Mike, I'm still here. If you tried it you'd love it. Geoff
