Just bought a TH500 from Nicolas. He lives in France. Comms all the way, delivered in 2 1/2 days. Packed well. I'm very pleased. You've got no problems with this guy. Thanks Nic.

I have been asked a few times if I could take the pickups out of the black JV Precision of the same era that needs a refret and swap them with the White one. I suppose I could if someone was serious about this but 1. I don't like messing with them unnecessarily 2. I think the original USA vintage 62 pickup has more clout.

I've added a sub folder in the photoshop link called JV family of 4. Again, I don't know how to display it on this page. I've previously sold two of them. I'm left with the White and black Precisions. The White Precision is the one up for sale now. The black one is back in the pantry because it needs a refret.

Please see http://s1355.photobu...3?sort=3&page=1 You don't see many in this colour, rather classy. This bass has been with me for the last 15 years or so. At one point, while I had this white JV, I bought two further Precisions from a guy who used to run what is now PMT in Birmingham - a pre CBS and an early 70's. After bum, bum and comparing, this bass came out on top. Every time I've tried something else (we're all looking for the chalice) I always fell back onto this bass. However, it's time to sell. I owe my mom a lot of money since purchasing a pre Ernie recently. Now, as most of you know this is the early series Fender Squier, nothing like Squier guitars today, made generally anywhere. There's plenty of info on the web about the original JV Squier range. Also some of you know that a pristine condition guitar is generally one that is picked up, played for a short while and then put back under the bed because it sounds crap. This bass has been used on many gigs. The marks are rock n'roll, theres no splits it the wood etc. All original except the replaced pickups which are now Fender Original Precision bass 62 USA vintage reissue. The neck has a great feel. Truss rod, tuners, frets and controls are fine. The bass has a thick sound more rocky than Micky Mouse. It's warm with string volume balanced across the four strings no toppy G & D. Weight - a nice 8lbs + 1oz. Reluctant sale and comes with hard case as shown. PS Could somebody kindly open up the main overall picture please, I can't show it? Geoff

The bass was made only around a year into the production of these Japanese Fender/Squiers. Two tone sunburst finish with a maple neck and fingerboard. Vintage style reverse tuners. Fitted with Seymour Duncan SPB1 pickups suited to the original Fender model with cloth wirings. Controls are Fender 250k pots with correct value cap and are in good working order. Sometime during its 32 years, it has had the incorrect pick-guard fitted i.e.13 hole fitting as opposed to the 57’ 10 screw hole guard. I have photographed underneath the plate to show this. There are no other holes or cavity mods (further pics sent if requested). The truss rod works correctly, the neck and headstock are clean and the frets are in good shape. Overall the bass is very clean with only a few bumps & scrapes. It has a big round warm sound with a hint of extra top end due to the Maple board in keeping with the vintage vibe. Weight is just above 8 lbs and the overall volume balance across the strings is even. Please see link to pictures. http://s1355.photobucket.com/user/geoff90guitar/library/Fender%20Squier%20JV%20Precision%20Bass?sort=3&page=1 Cheers Geoff PS If anybody could open the pics on this page I'd appreciate. It says I've used 31.35MB of my 30MB whatever that is.

Black/maple neck. 2005 model. With factory fitted S1 switch which when depressed, the two traditional sounding pickups effectively become one and the sound is a thumping Precision bass. It's in excellent original working condition, electrics, finish, truss rod with the exception of belt marks on the rear of the body caused by performing. Fender case and original scratchplate included. Please follow link: (could one of the editors display pics please, I can't do it?) http://s1355.photobucket.com/user/geoff90guitar/library/Fender%20USA%20Standard%20Jazz%20bass?sort=3&page=1 Cheers Geoff

Excellent. There's plenty of info on the early Squier JV range so I'm not going to attempt to bull. Fender's first year of assembly in Japan. Superb quality and sound. Original electrics and fully working. Truss rod fine. Strings balanced in volume. I've struggled to display the pictures so please click on the link (if the editors could put the main one on for me, ..please?) You're welcome to try the bass out here in Coseley - between Dudley and Wolverhampton before you purchase or I can post/ship. I was once told the neck had been re-fretted but I can't tell, I don't think anyone could, - so what, the action is nice and the feel is very smooth. Other than that totally original. Please email if you want further pics. Weight fraction above 8lbs. Comes with hard case. http://s1355.photobucket.com/user/geoff90guitar/library/82%2083%20Squier%20JV%20Jazz%20Bass?sort=3&page=1 Geoff

I agree, depends on what's in the pocket, but the wiring matl could have changed at such a late model. I'd say it was original but I think the sound quality lost it about post JV6**...
